Even as early as his "birth", Cazali had been all about quickness over strength. The assassain; the retrieval unit sent in to gather evidence, or eliminate it. Speedy legs to get him in, light to blind the enemy's defenses, and wind to cover his escape. His technique was finely-tuned to a science, almost to the level of instinct. None of the other Greeed could top Caz's usefulness in affairs pertaining to hit and runs, and that was how it would always be.

He'd been distracted by the ship. It had been fun, and what felt like three months of solitude and "peace" was downright miraculous for any Greeed. He'd been plagued with foreign sensations, and some stupider part of his sentience had debated if some of it was due to "emotion". It was only natural that jitters had set in, and the cat doubted it was just him. Ankh had to have been feeling it too- the paranoia, feeling eyes on you, gritting your hands and teeth and insides, feeling the emptiness within. They could cover it up, but the emptiness was- and would always -be there. But it could be lessened. Ankh had some of his medals, Cazali was sure of it.

He'd genuinely not wanted his medals back for most of the time. The Greeed wasn't sure why, it just hadn't been...as strong a desire as it once had been. Sure, he'd always intended to get his medals back, and he'd shot himself in the foot by discussing his "feelings" with Zou, but it would come later, it could wait. But, that discussion had put the seed of a plan in his head- why had he assumed he'd need to get stronger to get his medals back? Had he completely forgotten his purpose, his chief skill? Speed was what Cazali was- all he needed to do, really, was get his medals. Defeating Ankh could come later, and would be much easier with more than one core medal inside him. Swipe the entire set- Ankh surely carried them with him. Hole up somewhere, slowly feed on the more useful ones (Mezul's? Maybe he would finally get to try Uva's...?) and lie in wait. The bird would come for him, right in to his den, and then...that was it. No more running.

The sudden realization had been too much. The desire had flushed through his system, driving him to standing in the same hallway day after day, waiting. Even as he went over his plan for the thirtieth time, his hands were shaking. Most of the crew was busy with some body snatching nonsense- it was the perfect time. He'd waited long enough. All he needed to do...was to steal the medals...and run...

Wow. Cazali sucks. I hate him so much. I'm just looking for any excuse to kick his ass right now. Western Europa, where I was born and raised, during the crusade's where I spent most of my days.

k so like ankh's walking down the hallway and it's fucking aces because cazali wasn't there and neither was maki

but then cazali was there and he was like

"fuk u"

your spirit animal sucks

As luck would have it--or perhaps as misfortune would have it-- Ankh was walking right down that hallway. He wasn't so crazy about saving the world, he didn't have to deal with that body-swapping nonsense (or whatever it was) and he didn't have any sort of job or mission. Most of his days were spent idling about, watching the rest of the crew, and Stacy, and a bit of space.

And among that watching was wandering (the hawk candroid could go everywhere, but without the hopper can, he couldn't see it for himself), and so here he was, and with a slack of his shoulders and an aggreavted "tch," he noticed Cazali. It was probably too much to ask to try and pass peacefully, so he lulled his neck ever so slightly and turned an aggrevated stare on the yellow Greeed.

"Fancy seeing you here. Found any good fishing spots to waste your time at?"

Zouichi, as it turned out, wasn't looking for either of them. In fact, he was off-duty and rather enjoying his time not breaking up any fights or fighting space bugs or anything else. Alan was perched on his shoulder, chattering about turkey (he had not been allowed any, no matter how he had eyed it) and space as the both of them moved along one of the ship's many fleshy corridors.

A quirk of an eyebrow; there was something about Cazali's behavior that was a bit off. He seemed stiff and he was backing up? He was off-kilter. The dumb cat actually seemed like a scaredy cat. Wow.

Ankh's eyes narrowed; this was just making him more suspicious than entertained at this point. Although there was no doubt there was a glint of amusement. He swung his legs a little as he walked, slouching a bit and taking a few step towards Caz. "Nope; sorry to disappoint you, but I'm over that."

Of course he was kind of interrupted by some bird squawking, which had him roll his eyes just a little as he lulled his head towards Zouichi. "The hell is with that stupid bird?"

Excuse you Ankh, Alan was the best bird. That's right, better than you.

Anyway, wow, that looked like a problem in progress if Zouichi had ever seen one. He let Alan loose, sending the parrot to flutter off on his own, out of harm's way. "Cazali," he said, walking toward the both of them. Hadn't Cazali said he didn't want those medals back?

"If you wanted to get your medals back on a permanent basis, this is about the worst way to do it."

No Alan is a stupid bird. Stupid stupid bird.

He probably could have reacted better, but really he hadn't seen it coming. Usually Cazali wasn't this...hasty? Regardless, the most Ankh had a chance to do was form his Greeed arm on his right arm, falling back against one of those disgusting flesh walls, and wincing. A medal or two fell out of his arm, while his shoulder draw just a bit of blood.

He craned his neck slightly around Cazali to glance at Zouichi (so much for security, huh?), scoffing a bit before focusing back on Cazali.

"I don't have them," He said with a shrug, smirking and raising his left hand with another small wince, as if in a gesture to prove he was medal-less.

Well, that was not a good sign at all. Zouichi reached the both of them, placing his hand on the arm Cazali was using to, uh... grope Ankh's medals. If there was a way he could settle this without a fight, that would be ideal.

"Cazali."

[identity profile] handpuppeeet.livejournal.com 2011-12-09 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
On the plus side, his Greeed arm was free, though for now he simply let that hang at his side. Retaliating now would probably get Zouichi on his case too. His shoulder on the other hand, was leaking even more nice red blood, causing Ankh to wince yet again.

"Like I care," he spat out; the medals case was tucked into his jacket like it usually was, though the minute Cazali got close, Ankh would harshly bat his hand away like scolding a child over a cookie jar.

Zouichi was thrown backwards, but that wasn't enough to take him down for good -- he was back up in a flash, and increasingly annoyed. Okay, buddy, you didn't want to talk here? Then you could do it at the Station. From one of his pockets, he removed a small taser gun, leveling it at Cazali's back. Generally, it wasn't great to actually shoot your crewmates, so maybe this would calm him down a little.

"I'm going to have to ask you to come with me to the Brig." And that was Cazali's only warning before Zouichi pressed the trigger, firing the devices twin electrodes at the Greeed.

And then Zouichi went home and played with his parrot
