It was a nice, fluffy planet with a nice, fluffy name. Bound to be as nice as Happy Happy Fun World, right?

"Of course! Magic may not affect them directly, but... Colloshoo!"

Lupin gestured dramatically with his wand. From its tip a ball of viscous goo erupted, arcing dramatically to splash against the ground where one of the Pain Posse's legs rested. The Stickfast Charm was generally intended to work on people with shoes, but nevertheless.

"Earthbind Totem! Yes, it will slow them down! And then I can send the Fire Elemental totem as a distraction! And my spirit wolves as well! They will harry them, until we can get away!"

"Akil! Kurii!" the shaman cried, calling to the ghostly wolves, who coalesced into eerie appearance at her call. And considering they were spirits, Lupin's charm likely wouldn't affect them.

Alastirra made a gesture, and the totems she had already dropped disappeared, replaced by the pulsating yellow-green Earthbind totem, the flaming Fire Elemental totem, its namesake already flickering towards the Pain Posse, and, further back, a Mana Stream and Grounding totem. She wasn't sure the Posse members actually had any spells or ranged attacks, but insurance couldn't hurt, could it?

Starfire struggled throughout, and with her teammates' help she found herself free once more. Her poor ankle wouldn't be thanking her, though.

"We will build a cage!"

She worked on trapping them as best she could, zooming over to the cement barriers along the road and ripping them up, dropping them on the creatures' heads one by one. One was squished flat...success, yes?

No. The crew was making a strong effort, but the Pain Posse would not be deterred. They resisted each attempt---their spidery legs stuck to the ground for mere seconds, the spells used by Alastirra had only slightly longer effects, the swords bounced, and the one Starfire squished?

Black ooze was now seeping through the cement, reforming into a creature that somehow looked twice as menacing as before. it lashed out, strikes aimed at the nearest crew members.

As this assault began, oddly enough, they might notice that the color began fading from their surroundings...and was the light from one of the hospital windows brightening?

Well, damn. All of that wasn't working. And things were just getting worse.

Sayaka jumped back, and blinked as she stared up. Everything seemed to be getting different.

But she didn't have time to worry about that, as one of the creatures stabbed at her and she was forced to block it with her sword.

At least it was stopping it's attack, even if her sword wasn't hurting it.

Lightning didn't work on the giant spiders, so Clef was sort of out of ideas. Electrocution worked on most things. As he was heading towards the back of the group to work on some kind of barrier that would keep the Pain Posse in, he noticed the color fading from their surroundings.

"What now...?" he muttered, looking up only to see the light from one of the hospital windows brightening strangely.

"Um, that looks important!" he exclaimed a little more loudly, pointing up at the window in question.

That lashing out struck Shoutarou's armor, sending a shower of sparks out as he skidded backwards on his heels. He clutched his chest for a moment, then turned to Clef, and looked to where he pointed. "A light...?"

That hospital window opened with a bang, a small form hurtling out of it. The body hurtled toward the ground at an alarming speed, shimmering with the light collected from the area the entire way. It all seemed to collect in a little glass ball.

Then? The light exploded. It rocketed out in three quick blasts---violet, causing the targeted Pain Posse member to stumble. Yellow, burning them up. Then, as the power grew and all color drained into the ball, the finale: a rainbow beam, slamming into every attacker. In seconds, they were withering away, fading into smoke.

The attacker, a small curly-haired girl in a rainbow-colored dress, coughed. "Sorry it took so long! I wanted to be here sooner, but I had to get past the nurse ladies."

"The... Melody Militia, I presume?" asked Zouichi. Man, that was once fancy dress. But at least someone around here could dispatch these monsters.

Doc took a second to scrape his jaw off the ground, along with the rest of himself, before managing a response. Rainbows tended to give him Sparklelord flashbacks...

"Well, better late than never."

Sayaka blinked, looking over at the girl. So... Melody Militia were magical girls? That wasn't surprising at all. And they were the girls who were sick with food poisoning, obviously.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah," the girl nodded, dusting herself off. "I'm Agent Rainbow! Yes, I'm part of the Melody Militia." She struck a cute little pose, followed by a salute.

"We'd have fought off those slimeballs sooner, but we're not doing so well right now. And..." she shuddered, suddenly leaning against a building for support. "I don't know if we can fight today. It'll get worse this afternoon, just like every week."

Which meant they were in trouble.

Starfire looked very worried. Their attacks had been ineffective, only the girl's had worked. And the girl didn't seem to be able to fight for a long time. "...Is there a way to fight them, if you cannot?"

Shoutarou steps up after Starfire asks her question. "If things are going to get worse, considering the fat lot of good we just did right there, I'd say our chances of being useful don't even register..." He sighed, breaking his transformation. "I'm not usually one to give up like that, but none of us did any damage to those things."

Uh please excuse Jiraiya who had managed to sneak close to them and was totally not, like...checking out the goods.

Agent Rainbow thinks for a moment. "I'm afraid that only our powers have any effect on the Pain Posse. We can't use them. so...hey, mister, is there something on the lady's shirt?" she asked innocently.

"Then we should be devoting our attention to curing your ailments instead of attempting to fight them," Lupin said.

Dr. McNinja lifted a hand.

"I've got extensive experience with treating strange diseases and countering poisons and I'd be glad to try take a look at you and the rest of the militia, but I can't guarantee you'd be back on your feet by this afternoon.

Are there any backup members or are you the last line of defense?"

"No, nothing's wrong," he answered back with a grin. "You all look young. How old are you exactly?"

Sayaka blinked, ignoring Jiraya as she listened to what was going on. "Where exactly do your powers come from anyway?"

Rainbow bit her lip. This wasn't good, not at all. "Thanks for the help. It means a lot! But you can't go ahead and heal us, not now. They're coming this afternoon, they always do."

She glanced back up at the window, where another small voice called out. "Hey Rainbow, what's taking so long? Don't make me---don't make me---"

And the voice faded into a coughing fit.

"The other girls are sicker than I am, and we're all we've got. But somebody's gotta use the prism sphere," she whispered, turning the little device over in her hands.

"Okay, so maybe we can come up with some temporary replacements for you," said Zouichi, frowning a little. "What are the requirements? Will any girls of about your age do?"

"Yes, we will find warriors for you!" Starfire nodded, already looking around....

...but it seemed that they would have no luck. The frightened citizens had already retreated inside their buildings, waiting for the oncoming disaster.

Rainbow saw this too. "I don't see anyone healthy enough out here."

Except...the people right in front of her. She suddenly brightened up. "Except you! Yes, you! All of you! Come on!"

She's decided on this plan and already scampering off to the hospital, where they will pick up their items. Ready?

Zouichi started after her, planning to argue that he had no idea how to be a magical girl or how to use rainbow powers. "Hold on! Where are you going?"
