Who Says The Best Ideas Come From Movies? [Open]

Despite having traveled with the Doctor and having been awake on Stacy for however long now, there's still certain aspects of 'modern' life that Jamie often finds himself fascinated by - even if it's something he's experienced before. Watching the moving pictures in the media library is definitely one of those things. There's so many to choose from, he often doesn't know where to begin. Usually, he winds up picking something at random. This time around, it happens to be something called 'Back to the Future II'. During the movie, he can't help but wonder about what he's seeing. For instance, what would the Doctor or any of his other companions think of a time traveling DeLorean? Or a flux cap...capic...that 'y' shaped thing with the glowing lights? But what catches his interest the most is the hoverboard chase. Stacy's a big ship. Something like that would come in very handy, if they could figure out how to build it. The main problem, of course, is how to get started.

However, there's an easy solution for that, at least to Jamie's mind. All he needs to do is go down to the Sensoriums and imagine up one of those boards to test it out. Once he's done that, he can maybe see what would be needed to turn it into something more real. It doesn't really occur to him that a fictional technology might not translate so well - especially since he never really got a good look at the inside of the thing. All he knows is that it won't work over the water, so he's going to avoid that.

A short time after the movie ends, he can be found down in the Sensoriums, ready to try out his idea. Something that resembles a skateboard without wheels appears, floating slightly above the ground. It's pink. Very pink. Jamie quickly switches it to a much nicer red color before hopping up onto the board, fully expecting it to start right up. It wavers a bit but doesn't otherwise move. Frowning, he takes one foot off and pushes it against the air, like he saw in the picture. It continues to sit there, not doing much of everything, and Jamie scowls down at it. "Och, why isn't it working?"

"Yes, I know Ax well." Cassie answered easily enough, although she refrained from sharing much more. She liked Jamie a lot, but that didn't erase the three years of learning just how dangerous it could be to share too many personal details. Curious, she asked, "You know Ax then? May I ask how?" Even though she'd made the suggestion, she hadn't realized that the two were acquainted, although it wasn't a total shock either. Ax had been here longer than she had and he was more involved in the workings of the ship. Jamie seemed to be much the same from what she could tell.

"Which one?" To be fair though, even finding out the title might not help much. She had watched TV and movies some while on her homeworld, but it had never been much of a focus for her unless there had been something about the program that held some particular appeal for her. Besides, given how things seemed to work on Stacy, it was likely to not be one from her world, but that didn't change the fact that she was still curious.

"There are a lot of people on board with a good grasp on technology. I'm sure one of them might be able to help," she said cheerfully with a smile and a nod. "I've been just fine. How about you? You're right that it's been far too long. I'm really happy to see you again."

Cassie nodded, lifting her hand to her mouth in an attempt to cover her smile. That sounded like them, especially Ax. "I see. That sounds like fun."

Her eyes turned on the board at Jamie's comment and she watched curiously as it floated a short distance above the ground, but she had no answers on the situation. "That would probably be for the best. There are a lot of people on board who could probably figure it out."

The name rung a bell for Cassie, but she couldn't remember much about it. Had she seen it at some point or at least heard of it? Or was the memory a false one? It was hard to know sometimes. "Interesting... thank you for telling me."

"Don't worry about it," she said reassuringly. "I've been meaning to come check in on you for a while now, but I kept not getting to it so I'm sorry too." Shooting him a curious look, she added, "So, what have you been up to since that last mission?"

Cassie returned his grin with one of her own, joining him in the joke. "Technically if it was invisible, then you wouldn't see it. I think that we proved that on the last mission." Then she shook her head. "Mostly I've been trying to keep myself busy. I spend a fair amount of time in Hydroponics watching the animals that live there." Even as different as the animals were from the ones that she was used to, it was comfortable for her to be there, learning more about the incredible creatures that inhabited the area.

"Where's your new home? Assuming that you don't mind telling me. It would be easier to keep up with one another if I knew were to look for you." Cassie then paused as she further considered the part of the statement that had confused her. "We? Do you have a roommate?"

Cassie smiled and shrugged. "I find that it often doesn't seem wise to assume things like that without reason." Some people were more private then others after all and she hadn't wanted to risk offending him by assuming too much. Nodding, she added, "I've passed by that way before and I think that I know where you're talking about. It's a beautiful house." The park itself was one that she enjoyed flying around when she felt the urge to take to the air and an osprey's eyes gave her a good view of pretty much everything in range.

"I'm glad that you have a friend from home here with you," she told him, obviously happy for him. "You two sound close. I hope that I'll have the chance to meet her at some point."

"That's good to hear. Can I ask who? I'm just curious if I've met any of them," Cassie smiled. "You both must have been excited to be reunited."

She nodded enthusiastically. "Maybe we can try to arrange a get together at some point. I like to meet new people." Cassie bit back a smile. She didn't know how close their relationship might really be, but she could hear the affection in Jamie's voice and she at least had some suspicions about his feelings. "How has it been sharing a house?"
