Doing the Dirty Work [Open!]

How did Applejack stand working so hard around the farm? Her secret was simple: combining work and play. She'd brought the same styl to Hydroponics, where she'd sectioned off a small patch of the ground to be a place for some of the animals to play. The grass was dug up and seeds were planted elsewhere, water was poured, and Applejack herself was pounding her legs into the dirt. Making mud! Her bright orange coat was now coated in brown, and the longer she worked, the further she sank.

But this wasn't very fun. Back home, she'd done---yeah, that was what was missing! She hopped out of her little mud pit, tracked dirt across the grass, and set off at a fast trot. "Yee-haw!"

If anypony happened to be hanging about, they'd be splattered when the large pony came crashing down, rolling in her little pit of dirt. Her hat sat some distance to the side, miraculously untouched by the splattering of mud. Surely most would know to stay away from such a display.

Most would know how to stay away from such a sight. Unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately as the case may be) Dustin had a habit of getting involved with stuff he really shouldn't. With a small grin after he got splattered, he turned to the pony. "Someone's having fun."

"It's the only way to work!" Applejack answers him cheerfully. "Who'd stick around a farm all day otherwise? It ain't all a lark, of course, but I help where I can."

And she was sticking to that! "What can I do you for?"

Dustin had to agree with the small pony. If you're not having fun while working, you are doing something wrong.

"I was just checking out this part of the ship. I'm Dustin." He greeted warmly.

[appletastic]

"And I'm Applejack! Pleasure making your acquaintance!" she said all too happily, stepping back from the mudpit and wiping herself on the grass as best she could. It wasn't going too well, but that didn't really bother her.

"Looks like you've come on mudpit day. It's a bit of a mess."

Dustin appreciated the sentiment though. "Nice to meet you, Applejack." The dirt didn't really bother Dustin that much as well.

"It's no problem. I've gotten much dirtier in some of my races back home." While Dustin had vaguely heard of the talking ponies, this was his first timne talking to one. And because it was Dustin talking, he didn't think anything strange about it.

"Races? What kind of races?" Applejack ran plenty of them, but she got the impression that humans weren't always the type. They had their fancy-schmancy vehicle things.

"Both kinds, actually." Applejack was the direct sort, but that really didn't bother Dustin at all. He was similar to her in that regard. "I have a motorcross bike, which should be on the ship somewhere... And I also use my own two legs to keep in shape."

[appletastic]

"Wonder if it's any easier than four," she thought. Probably not! But those other things...

"Motor-whatsits? I don't think we've got those," she had to admit.
