(Open) Coordinators 101

Dawn had enjoyed her time at Happy Happy Fun World, but being down there reminded the girl of her dream, and even though she was the only Coordinator on board -who wasn't podded, now that she thought about it- she still had to keep her Pokemon in tip-top shape.

That was why she was in the Sensoriums, which currently looked like a stage - 3 podiums were set up in the far back, and a screen was near the ceiling above the girl's head. As for Dawn, she was wearing a simple pink dress with white mixed in and her hair in a ponytail.

"Ready? Come on out~!"

All of Dawn's Pokemon emerged from their Pokeballs, aside from Piplup who'd already been waiting: Mamoswine, Togekiss, Quilava, Pachirisu and Buneary. Her plan for the day? To train with her Pokemon and show off their unique skills to anyone who decided to arrive.

"Hey!" Waving at Dawn, Taichi entered with Agumon in tow. "looks like you've found the rest of your friends, Dawn."

"Hi!" Dawn waved back with her Pokemon calling out as well. "If you mean my Pokemon, they were always with me. What brings you over, Taichi?"

"Aw just wandering today," said Taichi, grinning. "There isn't much to do between researching bouts so I figured I'd give the sensoriums a try. Saw you come here and all."

"Aww, thanks~" Dawn blushed a bit while gesturing to the stage behind her. "This is how the stage looked during my very first Pokemon Contest, back in Jubilife City! I fought one of my best friends, and fiercest rivals, Zoey in the Semi-finals...and lost."

Though her tone had grown quiet, a smile was clearly evident on Dawn's face.

"It holds a lot of memories for you, huh?" said Taichi, grinning. "That's a good thing to have."

"Yeah, it does..." Dawn replied, pulling out her case and showing Taichi her 5 Ribbons. "These are proof that I was able to show off my Pokemon's skills, and I went onto the Grand Festival, made it to the Finals and faced Zoey again...and did my best."

Dawn was sugarcoating the fact that Zoey had beat her by only a few points. Still, she was in contention for Top Coordinator status even if she hadn't won her first Grand Festival.

"That's great. It sounds like you've got some amazing memories," said Taichi, grinning.

"I do!" Dawn smiled happily as well. "You've already met Piplup up close and personal..."

"Lup!" The Penguin Pokemon stood tall and proud by Dawn's left leg.

"...But, did you wanna meet the rest of my family of friends? No battles today unless it's part of training; promise~!"

"Hey sure, that'll be great!" exclaimed Taichi and Agumon nodded.

"Let's meet them," laughed Agumon.

"C'mon over, everyone!" Dawn waved the other Pokemon over toward Taichi and Agumon.

"I'd like you to meet Buneary, Quilava, Pachirisu, Mamoswine and Togekiss~" Each Pokemon responded with saying 'hello' in turn. "Everyone, this is Taichi and his Digimon partner Agumon."

"Nice to meet all of you," replied Taichi and Agumon in stereo. "Wow you've got a lot of partners." added Taichi.

"Mmn!" Dawn nodded in agreement. "You've gotta have a lot of Pokemon whether you're a Trainer or a Coordinator. Agumon's got more than just his Greymon level, right?"

"Yeah, two more levels than just Greymon. There's Metal Greymon and War Greymon," explained Taichi. "And a higher level if Yamato wakes up."

Zouichi blinked, looking around at the strange setup. It looked like a stadium of some sort, though for what sport he wasn't entirely sure. He'd seen an arena or two on Earth, but none that were actually in use by the time he'd been awakened. There was a young woman with some strange-looking animals here, though -- she seemed the most likely person to have created the Simulation.

"Hi. Is there some kind of sporting event going on?"

"Huh?" Dawn blinked a few times while turning to face the other person who'd walked in, shaking her head and smiling sheepishly. "Ohh, not really! I'm just training with my Pokemon in a place that reminds me of home."

"Your Pokemon? You mean these animals?" Yeah, they didn't have Pokemon where Zouichi came from.

"What are you training them for? Performances?" After all, they were in a stadium.

"Yes, my Pokemon!" Dawn introduced each of them in turn: from Piplup to Togekiss.

"Yeah, I'm a Pokemon Coordinator and I train them for Contests. I know one's not gonna be held on board, but..."

"Contests? Ah, like animal shows? Holding them to specific standards?" Well, that Quilava did look like a handsome example of (his?) species.

"Many of them look rather young... it must be difficult to get them to behave."

"Uhh...yeah, I guess so!" Dawn's expression became sheepish once again while recalling that she had had difficulty when it came to Mamoswine and Pachirisu.

"It was quite the journey, but I knew I could earn my Pokemon's trust and respect. And actually, Mamoswine and Togekiss are fully evolved. Quilava's almost there."

He smiled. "That's a rather admirable goal. I'm glad you could all get along; not all animal handlers are as conscientious with their charges. But what exactly do you mean by 'evolved'?"

"Oh, what's going on here?" Maxine asked, cheerfully and curious as she looked in on the Sensoriums. She was genuinely interested, and they were awfully cute. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything."

"Oh no, not at all!" Dawn turned toward the other girl, smiling eagerly while waving her over. "I was just training with my Pokemon at...a Contest stage! Did you wanna meet them?"

"Pokemon?" Maxine echoed. She was fairly sure that sounded familiar, but she thought it would be rude to say anything about it. She all but sprang into the Sensoriums, though, with a big smile on her face, at that offer. "I'd love to meet them!"

"Okay~!" Dawn quickly called her Pokemon over, and they all lined up for Maxine to see. "I'd like you to meet my Pokemon: Mamoswine, Togekiss, Buneary, Quilava, Pachirisu and my first-ever partner Piplup!"

"Oh, they're adorable!" Maxine said cheerfully, leaning down to look closer at the Pokémon. She held her hand out to them, with a smile plastered on her face all the while. "They all look so sweet. It must be nice, to have so many of your friends here."

Allenby loathed and despised the Sensoriums, and under normal circumstances she stayed as far away from them as she could. But she had something she wanted to test--a setting modification to Nobel Gundam--and dammit, she did need to test it before trying to make it work in the Gundam itself.

But it looked like the one she'd picked was already occupied. "Whoops! Sorry, didn't realize--wow." Allenby hesitated before ducking out, because while she'd seen a lot of weird stuff, all the animals arrayed on the stage were still enough to keep her attention.

"Huh? It's okay; come on in!" Dawn waved the other girl back, worried that she'd chased someone away over a simple misunderstanding. "If you need to use the stage, I wouldn't mind sharing."

"Well, I don't like butting in to someone's Sensorium time," Allenby said, coming in kind of hesitantly. But she was more interested in the kid and her critters than being uncomfortable. "Who are all these guys? Are they real or just in here?"

"They're my Pokemon!" Dawn replied, laughing lightly at the other girl's latter question. "Of course they're real; wanna meet them?"

Allenby perked up. "Yeah, you bet! Heh, I can sort of recognize a few of 'em, but I don't think we got any animals like this on my Earth," she said, looking from the little blue penguin to the... ferret... thing... with its head on fire.

Was that normal? It didn't seem to pay any attention to it. Maybe it was normal. "So uh. They're all your pets?"
