Tavern log. Yep.

Most of the recently-awakened people had probably heard of the Drunken Dragon tavern within a few days of getting accustomed to the ship. Some had already visited it, and a few had probably even become regulars already.

As usual, the door was open, and Kang and his helpers were there, refilling drinks and being sociable.

The stage was free for anyone that wanted to share a story, sing a song, or play an instrument, and it was more than welcomed, for what's a tavern without some form of entertainment?

[OOC: If your character wants to speak to a tavern person in particular (Kang, Kaylee, Nima or Kali), just make a note of it in your tag. Threads here can pretty much cover any time from the most recent podpop to just after Happy Happy Fun World; backtagging is our friend in T9. :D

Newbies, please make sure to read the tavern link! It's got all the info on the setting, available drinks, etc.]

Visiting Kang

Linsha and Lord Bight entered the tavern.

"Thank you for showing me the way here," Linsha smiled to Lord Bight. "I'm sure I'll learn to find interesting places myself soon, but so far I'm not too familiar with the landscape."

She noticed Kang and went straight to him.

"Glad to see you Lord... sorry, Kang", she smiled, a bit embarrassed, "Lord Bight was so nice as to show me the way to your wonderful Tavern, so here I am to talk about weapons training. But first of all, could I have a mug of apple cider?"

Open to anyone!

Well. One podpop, one definitely new pal! But no Gundam Fighters. Still on a spaceship that had no problem lurking inside her head and owned by people who definitely saw her and everyone else as too. On the other hand... great shore leave!

She was looking for a good time and hanging out more than a drink just now, but she'd probably head to the bar soon enough. She'd never been allowed booze as Ensign Beardsley of Neo-Sweden, after all. Nobody'd stop her now.

Kang.

A hawk glides in through the open front door at an opportune moment and settles with a clatter on the bartop. It pauses there, preening under one wing for a moment. He'd heard about Kang (mostly bad stuff) from Marco, and now was curious to get a feel for the man himself. He peered up at Kang, cocked his head to one side.

< I'll have a Big Mac, chocolate shake, and an apple pie, please. > A pause.

< Oh yeah. And a Happy Meal with extra Happy. >

[identity profile] kungfu-sexnun.livejournal.com 2011-10-23 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people might even help her with that!

"Hi! Can I get you anything?"

Nima drops from the rafter over the bar, where she'd been carefully dusting around the very few spiders (and other beneficial space insects) that had managed to settle into the inn.

[identity profile] skyboundmisfit.livejournal.com 2011-10-23 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
< No thanks. I only eat at high class establishments like McDonalds. > He clatters along the bar, back and forth in front of Kang.

< In that case do you just have some raw meat? That'd be good. > He tilts his head to one side, examining Kang.

< You're Kang, I assume? >

[identity profile] skyboundmisfit.livejournal.com 2011-10-23 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
< Tobias. I've heard a bit about you. > He launches himself off the bar and flaps upwards to perch on a rafter instead, still peering down at the Draconian.

There was a pub. On a spaceship. Now Ian had seen everything. The pub even looked like a proper old fashioned pub. Well, mostly, but he was on a spaceship filled with all sorts of species after all.

It was hard, sometimes to remember that the world had been destroyed. The spaceship was amazing, shore leave had been fun and no one had tried to kill or capture him. It felt like a holiday after life on the TARDIS.

He'd got himself an ale and took it over to the mural to look at it more closely.

Somehow, in her neverending quest to avoid overbearing robot babysitters, Chell had managed to get herself a little lost in the City. It wasn't a place she frequented often--sure, she'd done her fair share of exploring, but this part of Stacy was big, and it was very easy to get turned around if one didn't know where they were going.

Which she did not. That was often the problem with aimless wandering, after all.

Chell would not be daunted, however, and being of the curious type, took to sticking her nose into places it probably shouldn't have been. She had no idea what kind of establishment this "Drunken Dragon" was, but that was all the more reason to peek her head in the door and find out.

Hello handsome. A young woman with some very visible tattoos drops down from the rafters to Ian's side, accompanied by a strong breeze.

"How do you like it?"

She could mean the mural, or the ale. Or both.

With the notable exception of the trip to Happy Happy Fun World - an experience that she wouldn't be forgetting any time soon - Elisa had spent the time since her podpop trying to learn everything that she could about the ship and the war that they were fighting. The media library had filled in the gaps in what Goliath had told her, but there were still too many holes in her knowledge - in everyone's knowledge - for Elisa's liking.

She headed to the tavern for both recreation and research. A conversation with the right person could provide her with facts that hadn't made it into the archives or rumours that would be useful to keep in mind. And, even if that hadn't been the case, there were plenty of unfamiliar faces on the ship. She'd like to put a name to as many of them as possible.

In Manhattan, she'd had contacts and shortcuts and everything else that a diligent detective accumulated over the years. She was starting from scratch on Stacy and the tavern was the sort of social hub that any cop worth their salt would be drawn to.

When she'd collected a mug of ale of her own from the bar, Elisa joined Ian next to the mural. She still found it difficult, at times, to wrap her head around the enormity of what had brought them to Stacy, but she'd settled in well, thanks to Goliath's steady presence and her own ability to take the seemingly impossible in her stride. She hoped that Ian - who she hadn't actually seen since the day of they'd left the pods - could say the same.

"Hey," she said, giving him a warm smile, "How are you settling in?"

Bight nodded to Linsha with his usual confident smile, "Welcome, of course, I am sure you'll know your way around in no time,"

With his usual almost trademark confidence in his stride he followed Linsha on over to the draconian, dipping his head everso slightly in greetings, "Good evening Kang,"

"A mug of ale will do nicely," he replied in turn before giving a gesture to table by one of the walls not too far away, looking to Linsha with a smile "That should suit well,"

Aerith had managed to also get herself a bit lost, and at the sight of the 'Drunken Dragon' she paused. She wasn't a drinker really, but she didn't really mind any kind of drinking establishment. They couldn't be any worse than the places from where she grew up.

It seemed like there were quite a few people inside, and she certainly was curious enough to go in.

However, she almost ran into a woman on her way in, jerking to a stop moments before making contact. Taking a few steps back, she laughed. "Oh I'm sorry! I guess I got distracted, I didn't mean to almost plow you down."

[identity profile] skyboundmisfit.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
< That's one way of putting it, I guess. > He eyes Kang with that disconcerting raptor's stare, unblinking.

< Well met to you too. Nice place you've got here. > Be a shame if anything would happen to it. The cliche old line from a dozen different mob movies ran through his head. He wasn't exactly here to shake the Draconian down, though, so he just mentally smiled at the image of a hawk trying to set fire to a large building.

Hey, stranger things had happened.

Aya already had found herself seated at one of the stools at the side of the bar, nursing what was deemed the "house special." She didn't like getting drunk - on the contrary, besides the odd glass of wine with a meal she rarely drunk the stuff. That isn't to say that she didn't enjoy it, and the alcohol in a strange way, reminder her back of home. It definitely was a lot more human than Stacy's slop anyway.

Though she seemed relaxed, Aya was diligently taking down notes or looking something up on her omnicomm in between sips. Looks like someone else was doing some information gathering in the tavern.

"Fine, thank you." He smiled in greeting. "It's been fun," he said. "I was expecting more things trying to kill us." Although there was plenty of time for that to happen yet, which was why he was enjoying himself while he had the chance.

The breeze made Ian look over, just in time to see the woman drop to the floor. Which was odd, but not as odd as some things he'd seen, so his only reaction was a raised eyebrow.

"It's interesting," he said, turning back to the mural. "Does it depict a real event?"

[identity profile] skyboundmisfit.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
< Yeah, yeah it would. Though I don't know if my tree showing up would be the same as your tavern, > Tobias quipped.

< You're on the council, too, right? What do you guys actually do? >

[identity profile] linsha-majere.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Linsha took the mug from Kang. "Thank you Kang."

With the mug in hand, she followed Lord Bight's gesture to the empty table and took a seat. "Aaah now that's what I like. After all these wonders of technology a good, old-style Krynnish tavern is just a gods' gift! Kang, I think we're really lucky to have you and your business here."

Well, this tavern was a bit different, being a draconian tavern, but all in all, it really was unmistakably Krynnish.

Linsha smiled to Lord Bight and to Kang, expecting them to take seats too.

[identity profile] newyorkbynight.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's plenty of time for that," Elisa pointed out with a shake of her head. She'd yet to experience the reality of the war that she'd heard so much about, but she wasn't in a hurry for that to change. And it would change.

"I didn't see you during shore leave," she added, "Were you busy exploring?"
