Sisters by Title, not by Blood

It had been quite a while since Hay Lin had spent quality time with Sasami, the younger girl usually off with her boyfriend on some adventure or another. As for the older girl, she'd been on the bus except for those times which she'd found herself in a particular maze of sorts.

Now that she had signed up to take a martial arts class at the behest of a new friend, that's what Hay Lin had requested the sensoriums to look like for the day she arrived with Sasami in tow.

"So, mei-mei...what'd you think of Happy Happy Fun World~?"

"Really? It was a lot of fun!" Sasami admitted. "I feel sorry for that video game world, but..."

"...What happened to the video game world?" Hay Lin asked, a mixture of concern and giggles fighting inside the Guardian at that moment.

"Looked like it was falling apart." Sasami admitted. "Like no one cared for it after so long... kinda sad, but..."

"Aww..." Hay Lin ruffled Sasami's hair, feeling a sense of relief at that moment. "You wanted to help fix the place up, didn't you?"

Sasami giggled as her hair was ruffled. "Well...!" she trailed off, suggesting that, yeah, she did.

Hay Lin giggled while pulling the girl close, kissing her lightly on the forehead as she bent down and smiled broadly.

"That's a good trait to have. I'm sure they wouldn't like it if just 2 people tried to fix it up, but..." She trailed off herself, suggesting that Sasami wouldn't be alone in her efforts.

"You wouldn't of minded helping?" Sasami asked, blushing slightly at Hay Lin kissing her forehead.

"Hehe, nope! You're my mei-mei after all, and I gotta do whatever's necessary to watch out for you. If you wanted to fix up a part of a world that's battered and broken, I'll be right there by your side!" Hay Lin's smile turned into a confident one.

Hay Lin hugged Sasami back just as tight, holding her sister close before pulling back and ruffling her hair once more.

"I love you, mei-mei. I'll do whatever it takes to protect you; you know that, right?" She motioned at the classroom around them with one hand.

Sasami nodded at Hay Lin's comment, knowing the sentiment was the same from her other sisters as well. Though, curiosity got the better of her at where they were.

"So, ah... why are we here?"

"Well...it's one of the things I'm gonna improve myself on." Hay Lin replied, getting into a stance.

"Right now, I've got my powers as the Guardian of Air to use when I get into a bind; thanks to Matt, I can activate them without the Heart, but...what if that's not enough?"

"Hand-to-hand can work, but I'm thinking maybe..." Hay Lin's hand moved to a panel behind Sasami and produced a wooden quarterstaff.

"Picking a weapon and learning how best to utilize it in conjunction with my powers; I bought this down at the Medieval section of Happy Happy Fun World before teasing Ren for a while~"

A big smile formed on Sasami's face as Hay Lin produced the quarterstaff. A few moments later, Hay Lin would see Sasami brandishing her own staff, formed by the remaining hairtie she had. Her hair, once in its twin tails, were not tied up as a long ponytail, held up by Reimi's ribbon.

"If I had known sooner, I could have taught you a bit earlier!"

Hay Lin giggled lightly, shrugging before responding back. "It just came to me a while ago, so you're forgiven! I've already signed myself up for a martial arts class on board but if you're willing to teach me a few things..."
