Hey, what's not to like about a planet called 'Happy Happy Fun World'?

[[ooc: Time for Shore Leave! Post reactions to the announcement here]]

She almost blurts out that he should ask if he doesn't understand something, then remembers that...he's not Miyuki. And it's not the Elsa or any of the other ships she was more familiar with.

"We might find out before this shore leave is over," she said, almost off-handedly. Generally, there was always one person who had to do the one thing they shouldn't. Or who just didn't pay attention. "The pink sky, though.. It's the first time I've ever heard of a planet having it naturally."

To be honest, quite often he's been known to ask the odd question or two or five about things he doesn't understand. But, sometimes, it's simply easier to go along with whatever it is that's being explained. It doesn't seem to bother him much either way.

"I was on one once that had this lemon-yellow sort of sky," he muses. "Very pale, too. You'd not even realize it wasn't clouds until someone pointed it out to ye, then ye could see it. I've not seen pink, though." Nor, he realizes, has he actually seen this particular member of the crew around, and he offers out his hand. "I don't think we've met before. Jamie McCrimmon."

She shakes his proffered hand. "Shion Uzuki. Nice to meet you." Even though it's said in such a way that suggests it's more an automatic response than really genuine.

"Lemon-yellow sky? Do clouds normally seem to be that color to you?" She doesn't say that to be mean, but she's actually curious. Because he did say it was hard to tell it wasn't clouds...

"Oh, not normally," he replies, unperturbed by the question. "Usually they're white, or grey, depending on if it's raining or not. But if you've ever looked at them when the sun's rising, there's this point where the light hits them just so. They'll look that color, then."

At least, they are for him, back home in Scotland. For all he knows, however, she's not from there and has no idea what he's talking about. "I'd not been on that other planet before, ye see. So the first time I saw them, I thought maybe it was early enough in the morning they looked that way. But the Doctor said the skies were always that color there."

He can't really think of any good reason why the Doctor would lie about what color something was supposed to be, and he gives her a small shrug. "He'd know better than I would about that sort of thing, anyway."

Shion hasn't really seen a sunrise in a while and when she was planet-side, she never paid much attention to it. She was always busy. But she'll nod along. Clouds and sunrises are, or were, more Jin's thing than hers.

"I was just checking. For a moment it sounded like yellow clouds were normal for you. Though why would a doctor know about such things?"

Now that he thinks about it, he supposes she does have a point. "Aye, I can see where ye might have thought so. I probably should have mentioned I was from Earth. That might have helped things a bit there."

He does feel somewhat badly over having confused her, even inadvertently, and gives her a slightly apologetic look for it. Still, he's quick enough to correct her when it comes to her question. "Not a doctor. The Doctor. He's a friend of mine, and, well, to be honest with ye, he knows a lot about a lot of things. Not just medicine. I guess my point was just that there's some other planets out there that are different, that's all. Have ye been on many yourself?"

[identity profile] animus-vessel.livejournal.com 2011-11-02 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I've been on quite a few," she says. Yet she omits that most of them were destroyed or attacked in some way. She much prefers spaceships. "This Doctor sounds like a good person to know--"

And then she realizes that he said Earth. The place she's looking for with her friends on their ship.

"But... From Lost--Earth? You're actually from there?" She knows Jr. said people were on this ship from said planet, but actually meeting someone from Earth is entirely different.
bonnypiperlad: (Hey?)

"Lost...?" It's not the first time that he's heard something like that from another crew member - or a similar concept, at any rate, with 'Earth-That-Was'. So he's not as surprised as he once might have been. Still, there's a faint look of dismay that crosses his face at the idea of Earth being gone.

"Of course I am. I'm from Scotland." He hesitates for a moment, giving her a considering sort of look, then decides to go ahead and just ask her what he's thinking anyway. "I take it that by 'lost' you're not exactly referring to what the Ohm've done to our worlds?"

[identity profile] animus-vessel.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
"No. Earth and its coordinates have been missing for centuries for me. We're trying to find it," she said. Such was space travel and time loops, things like Earth went missing after far too much of either.

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-11-09 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I see." He can understand that, as well. For quite a long time, he thought that he'd never see Scotland again - and for much the same reason. Traveling through space and time in a machine that has a mind of it's own really does seem to make that sort of thing happen.

Jamie thinks about it for a moment, then comes to a decision. "Aye, well. I'll not say it'll be quite the same, but if ye like sometime, I can think up Scotland for ye in the Sensoriums. That is, if ye think it'd help."

[identity profile] animus-vessel.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course it would be helpful," she says. "Anything about Lost Jerusalem is helpful." And she means that. Even knowing a specific place on the planet would be more than nearly everyone else with her knows.

"When would you like to do it?"
bonnypiperlad: (hmm)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2011-11-18 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
Even if he's not entirely sure what she means by 'Lost Jerusalem', he's certainly willing to show her what he's familiar with - although he'll have to remember to keep it to memories of his home and not any of his adventures after he left.

But when to do it? That's a fair question, actually, and he taps a finger on his lips while he considers. "Well, I'm not sure how long any of us will have here, and I've a friend that I think may want to spend some time down on the planet. But if you'd like, we could see about getting in touch when we get back?"
