It's strange, how they almost seem reversed at this point. Mami was always the one smiling, always the one that has a positive, warm air around her. But now she looks sick; her skin is somewhere between pale and ashen, and not in a healthy way. The circles under her eyes almost seem purple now, and - like her tainted Soul Gem - most of the light was gone from her eyes.

Normally, such enthusiasm would be infectious. And if this had been a few weeks earlier, Mami would have been happy. But too much had happened. Mami had been left to her thoughts for too long, and her hope dwindled with every witch they defeated.

But she still had some life left in her. So she looked up, genuinely curious at Homura's sudden change.
