Happy reunions [Closed]

It hadn't taken long for the transport tube to deposit the pair of them to the center of the city at the base of the spire that the transport tube made from floor to the ceiling far over head. The trip reminding him very much of the very same trip he had taken with Smoke not a few days past, though of course without the constant barrage of questions that came with a brass dragonlet, though of course he answered any and all questions Linsha had on the way as he took her to the train stop. Passing the multitude of different buildings once the train had arrived and gotten underway in the right direction.

That she was here, not just temporarily, but properly released, safe and sound filled him with utter relief and joy. After a short trip on the train he led her past the last bend in the river near where he had led Smoke previously, leading her just that little bit further until the walls of the palace came into view, the pair of them walking straight through the open gates and into the inner courtyard, the palace itself looking as it had last she'd likely seen it, apart from the lack any of the Guards that so regularly filled their assigned posts and filled the Barracks of the Palace, "Home again at last," He smiled warmly across to her as he opened the main door for her.

"And only two of us", Linsha sighed. No guards, no servants, no flying and meddling dragonlets... Ah well. That's for she's going to fight now - to return Krynn into begin and with it, to return life to the palace. So far, it would serve as home just for the two of them. "Thank you." She squeezed Crucible's hand a bit and entered the palace with him.

"Well, first things first. I suppose the Lady of Sanction just can't run around in such improper clothes," Linsha said. "I must find something more appropriate."

Looking through her wardrobes and chests revealed most of them empty, but still she managed to find a worn but presentable tunic, matching pants and boots. She quickly put it all on.

"Is that a proper clothing for a Councellor's wife?" she asked. "But still it's better than nothing. I'd prefer my red gown, but I guess so far I'll have to settle with these." Linsha added her belt with her sword and dagger, looked at her engagement ring on her finger, matching Crucible's, and smiled. "I suppose I look more as your bodyguard than your wife, but the ring still says otherwise."

Satisfied with her outlook, Linsha looked at her husband:

"Now please tell me what to do with these devices they've given to me. They've said I must read something important that is in this device," she showed him the omnicomm and the comm ring. "How is it, I wonder, that they all here speak and understand Krynnish language?"

Linsha was somewhat comforted by his words. Not that she was in for beautiful clothes, in fact she felt much better in pants than in dresses, but back in Sanction everyone had been used to the fact that Lady Linsha ran around in breeches, and after all, she had had her formal gowns and had worn them on occasions. Crucible himself had often appeared in public in simple tunics, reserving his formal robes for formal occasions. But now it was definitely something like a formal occasion, introductions were expected, Crucible - ahh he was Lord Bight here again - was a Councellor, was wearing his Governor's robes (Linsha knew that these were simply transformed scales, but it didn't change anything for her), and next to him, she wanted to look presentable. That's why the sudden wish for a gown. But there weren't any, so the normal, everyday tunic and pants were already an improvement over the improper plantsuit, though far from the splendid outlook of her husband.

"Ahh the ship herself is responsible, I see," Linsha had already learned that this ship was sentient and that it was a she, "it's like magic of her own. Now let's have a bit of calm time while I'll be reading all these necessary texts. Let's sit here."

She led Lord Bight to a comfortable sofa next to the window and there they sat down together, while Linsha read the 'soul survival guide'.

"Hmm that's strange... but makes sense... the Daligig... Gia... captain..." she repeated the key words of the text. "War missions, all right... I hope they need good swordsmen here... alter our memories, what the heck? I don't want it to be... A crystal ball, great, need to see it, where's that Sensorium 7? Need to know, but later. The government and command structure, good... Could join some department or group, I suppose... but where's the general military structire? I suppose I should present myself to someone who's in charge of military affairs here... Who are these 'AIs', I wonder? Hmm, here are the rules about what we mustn't do, all right... quite sensible... BUT WHAT THE HECK IS THIS???"

Linsha's finger was indicating the last line in the list of rule-breaking action.

"So, being your wife in my own right and being in our own home, I can't embrace you without some meddling doc with a drug, as if I were some registered whore under Dark Knights' reign? What does this Stacy think of herself???"

Linsha's face was red with anger, she was trembling with indignation. For her, a married medieval woman, it was an insult worse than many others.

(OOC: Sorry, but I've warned that it would be a scandal.)

It was so nice just to sit next to him, to touch his shoulder with her own, while reading these really principal guidelines. But that shocking line immediately destroyed her peaceful mood.

Making two deep sighs, Linsha caught herself. Crucible wasn't responsible for this Stacy's idiocy - or something worse than idiocy. No need to shout now. It's better to think logically.

"Wait a little," she said in a more calm tone. "Let's call things their names. As far as I understand, people in this ship are all brought here to fight some bad guys. So, in essence, the ship is a war camp. Of course, pregnancies in a war camp are nonsense, without any Avia, Bleed and whatever terms one would call it. You fight or you bear children. All right, no question on that. But any woman with brains knows how to evade pregnancy, otherwise all these female hired swords and knights would simply always go with swelling bellies. Oh gods, I have been with many human men myself and I've never been pregnant, since I simply know how to do it - as every normal woman does. So this is all shit with this contraceptive shots - why are they called "shots", by the way? Ah, doesn't matter. No one needs to be poisoned with these. But! There's another idea. I wonder if this Stacy has a way to control everything that people do behind their doors? How else would she learn who does this terrible rule-breaking action 'in their own quarters'?"

"Right." Linsha sighed. "All right, rules are to follow, not to break", she said, reminding herself that she was first and foremost a warrior and a Knight, and only then an insulted lady. "Though I wouldn't like you to be poisoned with these drugs either. But it's not for me now to reshape local rules, so for now, I think, I'll just take it into consideration, and so far, let's turn to other things at hand." Linsha stroked his hair, temple, cheek. "Crucible, you're definitely the most marvellous dragon in all the universe," she said just wishing to thank him for his patience and benevolence. "Shouldn't we return to the observation deck now? We could continue discussing things there."

"I wouldn't wish you any trouble too," Linsha said, accepting his compliment with a smile and a light touch of lips on his cheek. She was a bit baffled that she wouldn't be able to be with her beloved at nights here. But ah well, she would find herself some place to sleep, perhaps there were some barracks or an inn. She wouldn't bother him with this now, he had a job to do, and she had a job to find. "Let's go back to the Observation Deck then. And while we're going there, please answer me just two more questions. First, what is this comm ring for, and second, who is in charge of military affairs here, so that I could present myself and join the military force?"

"So, with this comm ring, I can always send a message to you, and you to me?" Linsha smiled. "A really useful thing, for I see that this ship is huge, and it would be difficult just to run searching for someone. With this ring, it saves the efforts."

"Oh thank you! Perhaps I'll be able to find any of these military officers on the Observation deck", Linsha said, standing up and going after Crucible to the palace doors. "I would prefer to join the military forces of the ship as soon as possible."
