We Are Xros Heart (no not really but OPEN LIKE WHOA)

The setting was a familiar cafe in the middle of the Digital World, one populated with digimon of all kinds. It was here that Taichi lead his new team towards it. "Here we go, order whatever you want. Which means dreaming up whatever you want. The sensoriums'll do the rest."

"Once we're settled in, I'll explain everything but I think we've got hungry digimon with us," said Taichi as an afterthought. "Sensoriums create food so you can eat here, but there's no taking it outside it so you have to eat here to taste it."

"I'm leaving the door open, in case anyone else comes in. Let's greet everyone we can too."

"Wow, there's actually something that does that sort of thing?" Miyako said, looking at the recreated cafe. "I wouldn't mind getting the whole story, though - a one day trip isn't the best way to find out what's going on."

Hikari giggled, walking up next to Miyako with Plotmon in her arms. "Yep! It makes eating that food... well, actually tolerable. I'm rarely in the mess hall."

Izumi blushed as her stomach growled.

"Sorry. I think it's been a while since I last ate."

"Foods up," said Taichi then, materializing several stacks of food on the closest table. "Let's eat before anything else happens."

Hikari couldn't help but smile over at Izumi, before moving over to the table. "Thanks Oniichan!" she said, letting Plotmon out of her arms so she could go devour one of the few stacks.

Hikari quickly moved over to grab some food for herself before the rest of the digimon got to it.

As Miyako gathered some food for herself before Hawkmon digged in, she noticed that Izumi was with them, but no partner.

"...ah, do you have a Digimon?" she asked.

"Well, it's a long story," Izumi said as she took a plate of risotto with peas, "but basically, I'm able to evolve into a digimon myself."

"Can I say for the record that is really cool and I wanna do it too?" said Taichi, his mouth full of noodles.

"...Guilmon and I can too, but only when he goes to his Ultimate form." Takato smiled sheepishly while heading toward the table himself - mainly to keep Guilmon from eating it all.

Hikari blinked, looking over at Takato. "How does that work?"

"Well, it's called Matrix Evolution and it's when Guilmon and I share the same desires and determination to protect the ones we care about," Takato explained while holding up his D-Arc.

"I first pulled this off in the Digital World...shortly after almost destroying it." Takato's expression became sheepish again while getting some food for himself and a lot for Guilmon.

"...you destroyed your Digital World?" Miyako uttered, letting her glasses slip from her nose.

"...that's something you don't wanna hear..." Hawkmon said.

Taichi looked at Guilmon and then at Takato. "What are you feeding him to do that?"

"We actually did lose our Digital World, along with our real world," Izumi confessed, looking down at her food in shame. "We were able to save both, but it was a hard battle. Lucemon was so strong..."

Hikari's eyes widened as she heard both that from Takato and then from Izumi. "You... your Digital World was destroyed? And the... how'd you get it back?"

Yeah, she was going to ignore Takato for the moment.

Plotmon, however, wasn't. "How the heck did you mess up badly enough to almost destroy the world?" she said, glaring over at Takato to make it clear that she was talking about him and NOT Izumi.

Aw, nuts...! "I said I almost destroyed it!"

This wasn't a part of his past that Takato liked to talk about; matter-of-fact, he hadn't talked about it to anyone since it had happened!

"I...a precious friend of ours died, and...I got really angry and forced Guilmon to Evolve to the Ultimate level!" Holding up his D-Arc, Megidramon's picture and information appeared within seconds.

"Ah it happens," replied Taichi. "I once Dark Evolved Agumon. That wasn't a shining moment."

"Lucemon had absorbed both worlds' Digi Code," Izumi explained to Hikari. "I don't know how he managed it with the real world, but he did. Once we destroyed him, we were able to free the Code and restore the worlds."

And at the admissions of the dark evolutions, she confessed, "That sounds similar to what happened to Kouichi. Cherubimon had corrupted his Spirit, so he was forced to evolve into two evil and out-of-control forms."

"Wow, I think the worst I had to deal with was Hawkmon having to kill as Silphymon." Miyako admitted.

"There wasn't much of a choice, but we agreed that it had to be done." Hawkmon said.

"Though, there was Ken back when he was the Digimon Kaiser. Him and that Chimeramon."

Hikari blinked, nodding. "Yeah. Both of those sound worse than the worse thing I went through. When Vamdemon invaded Earth just to kill me." She frowned. "But well, we've never lost like that before..."

Takato nodded solemnly, recalling all of their adventures - save Izumi's experience; that was completely new for him.

"Our major threat turned out to be a computer program that was originally meant to protect the Digital World, but got warped somehow and started destroying it before coming with us to the real world!

"We called it...D-Reaper."

"... boy that doesn't sound friendly," deadpanned Taichi. "Kind of sounds horrible to experience."

"It does, doesn't it...?" Miyako said, surprised.

Izumi shivered. "Sometimes I forget that the Digital World is, well, digital. We're constantly dealing with legends and myths that it's easy to forget. But a program going wild like that?"

Hikari frowned as she heard that. "I... wait, someone programmed something to defend the Digital World, but it got messed up? Does that mean in your world that the Digital World didn't just appear by accident, but was designed that way to begin with?"

Plotmon blinked, looking up from her food again. "That'd be really weird," she said. "I mean, that would mean that there was someone in his world that could actually be called... well, God, right?"

"Right!" Takato doubted any of the 'monsters makers' would go that far, but he went on with his tale.

"If I remember how Jen explained it -oh, Li Jenrya, one of my best friends is also a Tamer- his Dad and a few of his friends actually created Digimon, but they evolved beyond their regular programming and after a while the Digimon sovereigns appeared.

"Somewhere along the way, the Digital World was formed long before my friends and I showed up."

"Well that seems about right. I mean, Digimon are made from both data and a lot are based on human myths and such, right? If both worlds evolved closely together, then there's no telling what could trigger the creation of one," said Taichi, folding his arms.

"Taichi you've been reading Gennai's notes again, haven't you?" inquired Agumon in between bites of hamburger.

"It's not like I have anything ELSE to do on this ship."

"If that's true, then it's very possible that this very ship might have a Digital World." Miyako said, nodding.

"It's very possible. But, then again, do we have a way to find that out?" Hawkmon said.

Hikari blinked, looking over at the others. "The ship having it's own Digital World? Don't you think that might be, well, a bit odd? I mean, the ship definitely isn't as big as a world."

"Of course not, but didn't I see a bus on our way here?" Takato asked while Guilmon was busy on his fifth plate of food. "That shouldn't fit inside a ship! That was a bus I saw, wasn't it?"

"The city's bigger than it should be," said Taichi, pointing to the western style roast in front of him. "Picture the roast as the bus. And then look at the building we're in and then double it. Or maybe even triple it. That's Stacy. In a single floor."

"Besides," added Taichi thoughtfully. "Gennai often wrote that anything that provides data can support digital life. And Hikari, we went into the ships computer too."

"And I thought moving to another country was culture shock," Izumi deadpanned. "I don't know if I'm ever going to understand these other Digital Worlds, let alone one on this ship." To her, the Digital World was its entire universe, complete with planet, moons, and outer space. Containing that on a ship was a lot harder than a bus.

Hikari nodded. "Right, I remember that, but that was a bit different. It was only one computer. How big would a Digital World for the ship be anyway?"

Ken had been quiet so far, except for a small wince when his time as the Digimon Kaiser was mentioned. Not the proudest moment in his personal history, either.

"That's a good question. The ship itself is pretty big, isn't it? I mean, from what I've heard it's a lot bigger than even, I don't know, Tokyo. Maybe even a country."

Once hearing what Ken suggested, Takato came to a semi-startling revelation of sorts. It was shown when Guilmon had slipped in, sniffed at what Takato had left on his plate and ate it - without his Tamer none the wiser.

"...Could it be big enough to hold a Sovereign-type Digimon? Like Qinglongmon, or even Zhuqiaomon?"

"If it is? I don't think they'd be of any help here." Miyako said, a little disenchanted. "I got looking at those Omnicomms. Apparently, our "rescuers" have seen fit to weaken some people out of fear."

"Which means if Qinglongmon was here, he might be a strong as an Adult now. Or even worse." Hawkmon said. "Of course, I'm not sure of that."

"Which is weird," said Taichi. "Because from what I can tell, and a few potshots at a recreation of Armagedemon, Agumon's just as strong as he used to be."

Hikari shook her head, looking over at Taichi. "Well, Qinglongmon is a lot stronger than War Greymon is. Or Holy Dramon," she said. "I can see why they could consider something like him a threat and not us."

Plotmon let out a sigh. "I can't see how not having all of our power is good for us if we want to beat the Ohm though. It doesn't make sense. At least when we gave up most of our powers that time it was supposed to make it so that we didn't have to fight anymore. Even if it didn't work."

Izumi's sense that she was being vastly outclassed by the others was back, and she had to think hard to find something to contribute to the discussion.

"Maybe there's a way around it," she suggested. "Like in my Digital World--when Seraphimon gave Takuya and Kouji some of his energy, they were able to create a Double Spirit Evolution. And then Ophanimon helped them fuse ten Spirits each with Hyper Spirit Evolution, and Kouichi helped us fuse them all to create Susanoomon. If there's an outside power they don't know about, maybe it could help us?"

"That could work!" Takato agreed wholeheartedly with Izumi's suggestion.

"Back home Guilmon and I had to fuse together with Grani, who used to be the ship we had to take to get back to the real world but was modified into a glider-like Digimon machine that Dukemon rides, and we activated a Mode Change - like Daisuke and Ken have with ImperialDramon!

"Outside help really can help out! Maybe...we can get them to see that somehow?"

Wait--how did this other kid know about him and Daisuke?

"You know about ImperialDramon?" He blushed a little. He wasn't really the type to draw too much attention to his own accomplishments. That was Daisuke's job.

". . .I didn't think we were that famous." He smiled slightly, feeling a little awkward.

"Without Daisuke here, I'm not sure how to test this sort of thing out. . .Minomon can't really jogress without V-mon, after all."

"We'll have to make due," said Taichi, looking over at Ken. "Don't worry, we'll all figure out how this is going to go down. I mean, we're all connected under the same sky so to speak."

"Exactly! I mean, we've done some crazy stuff before and I'm certain something will happen along the line that'll help us!" Miyako said, also turning her attention to Ken.

Hikari nodded. "I guess. I mean, whatever made it possible for Tailmon to evolve to Ultimate last time had to have been something like that..."

Actually, the only thing like that would've been her pactio with Negi... but how could that grant her the ability to evolve Tailmon to Ultimate, and why did it take them that long to find it?

"But we all have such different forms of evolution," Izumi pointed out. "That's the one thing. Is there anything that'd be able to help all of us?"

"...Like some kind of joint Evolution for all of us?" Takato offered. "If there's anything that connects all of us, I'd say it's the bond we have with our Digimon. Even if you don't have actual Digimon Izumi-san, you do have bonds with them."
