Sumeragi glared at the console, and instructed the computer to bring up the simulation once more. It was a fairly simple one - just dodging an oncoming asteroid field - but she'd run it three times now, and each had ended with her ship as an asteroid bug-splatter not too far in. She could drive a car just fine, but the finer controls of the ship eluded her. She had imported the Ptolemy's basic design and control scheme into the program, so at least it was a ship she was vaguely familiar with.
Nonetheless, ten minutes into this fourth run, a fairly loud stream of curses - in more than one language - could be heard outside the door to the sensorium she was using.

"Anytime! Now jus' load it up and feel out how it runs. And don't sweat it none, practice is practice and it's meant to make ya better, not frustrate ya. Keepin' a focused mind is key in battle."

She instructed the computer to pull up the new simulation, though she didn't dive straight in.

His standard response would have been mentioning what he had been trained for so many years, he had no name, only a number. But it had seemed the crew had taken a liking to calling him by his code name and it seemed to have stuck, "Name's Splicer. Pleasure meetin' ya Sumeragi."

With a short wave, he left the sensoriums and made his way down to the tavern.
