Sneakery

Zam Tolen hadn't been seen a whole lot around the ship. She had disappeared during Lirath and generally wasn't the most available though she was still hitting her Security patrols.

It was late at what passed for night on the ship, as she went to several places. Special Weapons was one place, where she was...building something. With no plans or references, just from her head.

The hangar was another place, where she was gutting a spaceship of certain pieces, shoulder deep in starship.

[ooc: She can be found at either place, just specify where she is.]

Special Weapons

She wasn't the only one doing some sneaking around.

It wasn't a completely abnormal site for Lash to be found in Special Weapon, tampering around with some of the equipment or just to look at, and take personal notes for her own weapon building. This was one of those nights, and she was mostly busy with a few sheets of paper taken from her deskwork for Leon, a pencil in her left hand as she redrew some of the designs and was busy modifying them on the fly.

Lash gave a tiny wave back, trying to remember where she'd seen this lady before. Hadn't she seen her talking to Leon at times? Security maybe? Or if she was knew and had missed her during the poddrop...hmmm.

She went back to sketching, but curiosity eventually got the better of her, and she kept looking over her shoulder in what was possibly the least subtle manner possible.

The wunderkind had invented and made a lot of very incredibly complicated things without schematics during her life in Black Hole, but they were in no way this amazingly complicated. As the project grew she became even less subtle in looking over until she had slowly stopped coping notes made her way over to what the lady was building and stared at it with a wide, appreciating grin.

She had no idea what it was supposed to do, but damn, did it look awesome. Yet, she amazingly didn't utter a word even if she had the annoying tendancy to ask a million questions. She just couldn't. Lash hadn't met that many people who could do such skill this flawlessly and perfectly, and she was honestly awed by it all.

Well that brought her down back into reality fast.

"Sorry," she said, stepping a little bit farther away. "I didn't know you could build stuff that cool." She meant it, too. "But I know how it is to have people over your shoulders messing up concentration. I used to shoot people back at home--wait I should be telling that to a security guard. Uh just pretend I didn't say that part."

Quick as a flash, she went back to her doodling, but it was very obvious to see that she was completed distracted by this shining new toy being assembled now.

I wonder what it does?

Yeap, Lash had just caught a case of the totally fangirl mode. Building stuff out or spare parts while undercover? That sounded a lot more exciting than she had given the lady for. But you know, can't have her say that out loud, that would somehow lower her street cred. Lash was very weird.

"That's really neat!" She could only imagine that terrible mayhem she could do with something like that. "I've made a few for fortresses in my world, but they were much, much bigger than those and not as tiny and compact!"

"Really? Considering you made one with spare parts and then built this one without..well I don't see plans around you, you seem to have a natural talent for it" A pause. "Name's Lash, by the way." She shoved away one of the other pieces of equipment, stretched her arms and yawned.

"Anyway, while I'd like to stay here until that machine of yours is ready and operational, I've gotta go to Zett--Outsider's Hotel." Yes. Excellent save. "But I do wanna see that machine work once it's done sometime!"

[ HANGAR ]

Stacy was an active place at all hours, really, but a little more quiet during the span of time the crew tended to begin heading in for sleep. On the indigo bipedal mech that stood alongside others much like it, Jr. sat comfortably with his legs crossed on what was the chest and cockpit area of the machine. Omnicomm in hand, he had it wired to the inside of his Asher and scanned over a few things. Every once in a while he'd shrug to himself or smile - he was trying to figure out the best way to attach some sort of shield to the unit. He supposed in short it could work much like its other weapons, able to be summoned and replaced depending on what needed to be done. But during the speed of battle, sometimes it was worth it to have the shield on hand because as fast as the transfer device worked, even it was sometime too slow to keep up. So some sort of temporary attachment or placement on the arms might do the trick, he thought. But he had to figure out just how it would work out best.

He yawned eventually, leaning back and stretching as he tapped the omnicomm off and stood, unhooking it from his mech. Grabbing hold of a cable he began to lower himself down, and that was when he heard the sound of rummaging and metal nearby. Blinking once, he figured it was just another pilot or a mechanic getting in some late night work. But he was heading in that direction anyway, so Jr. figured he'd stop by briefly to see who it was and what was up.

At least he semi-knew Zam from Security. "Hey," he said with a second stretch of the arms.

"Good. Same as you just a couple of minutes ago - getting some work finished up."

He took a step toward the spaceship and leaned forward to get a better look at it. "Repairs, or something else?"

That sounded useful enough. And it caught his interest some - especially with the whole good with dealing thing. "What kind of equipment is it?" he asked curiously.

[identity profile] carrieswar.livejournal.com 2011-09-27 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Power nullifying restraint? Huh, that sounds pretty useful!"

And dangerous in the wrong hands, but that really applied to anything. He gave Zam a smirk. "'Course, let's hope we don't have to use it too much."

"How's the scavenging going so far? Think we've got the right stuff on the ship for that sort of thing?"

He kept his eyes on her and the ship, though when it came to the ship he was just looking to see how many parts had gotten cleaned out for the endeavor so far.

"Ah..." He put his hands on his waist, looking off to the side. "I'd offer to help out, but I'm not very part-savvy with this kind of thing, lack of knowledge on the tech you're trying to make itself."

Jr. gave her a quick, semi-mischievous smile. "I can never say no to keeping a lady company!" Of course, talking about Lirath and GLaDOS weren't so charming, so he let out a small sigh after that. "Well, we won, obviously, or else we wouldn't be here right now," he said to give her the shortest description of how it ended. "But man was it tough, even with the GIA helping us out."
