Best Day Ever [CLOSED]

The setting: an amusement park, with the worlds biggest, most exciting rollercoaster ride. Hank and Janet sat in the car as it slowly ascended upward. Despite having fought countless super villains and faced life threatening situations, Hank held onto the part tight as he started to perspire.

"I hope this is fun enough for you Janet..." Hank says and swallows nervously.

Janet laid a hand over his and squeezed it gently. "How can I have fun if you're not?" She gave him a slight sad face.

"Oh no no! I'm having fun, see!" Hank said as he smiled widely at her. "I mean, it's just a roller coaster right? We're perfectly safe." They neared the top of the track and Hank put his hand over Janet's.

"Really Janet, I'm fine, don't worry. If you're having fun, then I'm happy. It's only natural to be a little scared when you're on a roller coaster."

Jan couldn't help but smile at his slightly goofy antics and leaned back against the chair. "Alright, we at the top. Here we go!!!!!" She shrieked as the roller coaster took a dip and the wind rushed past her face.

"Okay, okay, whaaaaaaaaah!" Hank yelled as the car sped downward at ludicrous speed. They rode the track through twists and turns and loops. Hank's adrenaline shot up, and he had to admit, it felt pretty good.

"Whoo-hoo!!!" Jan screamed out loud. She was having the time of her life as the roller coaster kept going for a few more loops and dips. "This is awesome, Hank!"

"Yeah! Hahaha!" Hank cheers with her and holds Janet's hand. The rollercoaster begins to slow down and soon reaches a stop. The bars go up and Hank catches his breath.

"Okay, that was fun. Really fun. Phew. So what do you want to do next?"

"Bumper cars! My adrenaline rush has not worn off yet." Jan dragged him along by the hand as they weaved around the amusement park. Why didn't they do this back in their world?

She saw the attraction and ran up, jumping into a bright yellow car, very eager to go. "Come on, Hank!"

"Okay, hang on," Hank said as he climbed into a car. The cars turned on and Hank began to drive around.

"Hmm, she handles turns pretty well."

Janet had an evil grin on her face as Hank got distracted by the beauty of his bumper car. She sped up and hit the back of his car with a nice bump.

"Ow! Hey..." Hank says with a frown as he looked back at Janet. "That wasn't very nice Janet." He sped up and moved around Janet before adopting her evil grin and bumping her from the side.

Jan traded some more bumps with Hank and she was smiling with glee. "You're not supposed to be nice when you're driving bumper cars, Hank."

"Yes, I figured that part out." Hank replied and attempted to avoid her. They rode around and bumped their cars for a while, having fun together, the most fun Hank had in a long time.

"Hey Janet, can we go on a different ride? This car is starting to feel kind of cramped."

"Alright. How about a shooting gallery?" Janet replied as the cars stopped moving and she hopped out to head to the shooting game.

"Sounds good to me." Hank climbed out of his car, his knees a little shaky from all the bumping, and followed after Janet. They both arrived at the shooting gallery and two air rifles waited to be used.

"After you Janet."

Jan took a rifle and aimed it at a target before pulling the trigger. The cork missed the moving duck by a hair. "Argh!"

"Just keep at it, I know you can hit it." Hank says reassuringly and places a hand on her shoulder.

Janet blushes a little bit at his touch and calms down before taking aim and waiting. She counts how fast the ducks move by and when she is ready, she fires and hits a duck.

"Yes! See Janet, you've got the hang of it." Hank says cheerfully and more ducks begin to pop up for Janet to shoot.

Janet times the movement of the ducks and fires off her shots on at a time. She got all the targets and was given the opportunity to choose a prize.

"What's your favourite animal, Hank?"

"Oh, an ant - er, I mean, a wasp, of course." Hank replied, quickly correcting himself and smiling at Janet.

Jan raised an eyebrow and took a cute adorable toy wasp from the shelf and handed it to Hank. "It's an insect, not really an animal but I hope this toy brings you joy."

"Insects are animals too..." Hank said and pouted a bit. "Alright, let me win you something."

He placed the wasp down and took an air rifle. The ducks popped up and began to move across the range. Hank wasn't quite as good a shot as Janet, but he managed to get them all.

"What prize do you want?"

"Here you go Janet." Hank said as he handed her the ant toy. He looks around and spots the ferris wheel. That would be perfect for what he had in mind.

"Why don't we ride the ferris wheel next? The experience wouldn't be complete without it, right?"

"Sure thing." Jan cuddled the purple ant toy closed to her and linked arms with Hank as they walked towards the ferris wheel. It was spinning slowly and the cabins showed multiple colours every few seconds.

As if by magic, the wheel stopped when they got close. Hank lets Janet get in first before getting in himself. Once they were secure, the wheel started turning again.

"So, I guess you've enjoyed your day Janet?"

Janet laid back against the comfortable chair and looked out of the window to enjoy the scenery of the fair grounds. "Yes, I did. Even if I have to go back to the pods after today..."

"Yeah..." Hank said sadly, looking down at his feet. He set his wasp toy aside and cleared his throat.

"I'm really happy knowing that you're alive and safe though. I can't wait until you get to be out permanently. I'm just afraid I might never get to see that day..."

Janet heard the sadness in his voice and looked at him reassuringly. "Hey now, don't be sad. If you don't wait, who's going to welcome Tony or Hulk or Thor and the others?"

Hank smiled a bit and looked back at her. "I know, I know. I want to welcome them too. It's just that..." Hank sighed and rubbed his head. "This ship is part of a war Janet. These Ohm we're up against are the most dangerous things I've ever seen. What if I get killed before I get to see you..."

Janet frowned and looked at her lap sadly. "Then you have to promise me to stay safe..." She whispered softly and grabbed his hand tightly.

"I promise." hank said as he clasped her hand in his. He stared into her eyes for a long moment, unsure of what to say next.

"Janet, there's something I've wanted to tell you for a long time, something I should have said sooner, something I should tell you now before it's too late. I've risked it too many times before."

"What is it?" Janet replied as they continued to stare into each other's eyes.

Hank feels his heart racing again, even worse than when he was on the roller coaster. He began to tremble a bit, so nervous and afraid of being rejected. But he steeled himself. Hank knew he might never have another chance after today.

"Janet, I love you!" And without another thought, Hank pressed his lips against hers, something he had only dreamed of doing until now.

Janet was surprised by the sudden kiss but was happy nonetheless. Her hands went around his back into a loving hug as she returned the kiss.

"I love you too, Hank." She whispered after pulling away.

Hank let out a long relieved sigh. "Thank you Janet." He wrapped his arms around her too, and they both cuddled at the top of the ferris wheel.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I was afraid you would reject me."

"Reject you? All those times I was seeking your attention! I would not be doing that if I didn't like you."

Janet admonished him but still leaned closer into the hug. "I don't want to ever leave..."

"Eheh, well, I know you find the work I do boring...I guess really should have seen it sooner." Hank said and blushed while he held her.

"You're just so amazing, I never thought you would fall for someone like me. I never want to let you go now..."

"You're so sappy, Hank." Janet teased as she gave him another kiss. "And I love you the way you are."

Hank smiled and squeezed a little tighter, kissing the top of Janet's head.

"Thanks Janet. I'll miss you."

Janet cuddled under his chin and sighed. "This isn't goodbye, Hank. We'll see each other again..."

Hank nodded slowly and gently nuzzled Janet's hair. "I really hope so, and I hope the wait isn't too long. Then things can go back to normal, except this time we'll be together."

"Mmm hmm... And promise me that you won't get too caught up with your scientific experiments." Jan replied as she gently nudged him in the chest with a finger.

"Okay Janet, I promise." Hank replied, and he really meant it. He stroked her back and stared out into the virtual sunset from atop the ferris wheel.
