Encounter in two Parts

Early that day, one might find Philip in the Narumi, sleeping on his things. He held a marker in his hands and from it, there was a single line scrawled over the whole of his whiteboards:

"The Cake is a Lie."

He hadn't been GlaDOSed recently. So the point of it was puzzling.


Later on, someone might find him sitting at the river, throwing sticks into it from the loose gravel. Come bother him?

"All right," said Philip, rubbing his eyes and yawning. "Sorry I haven't gotten much sleep in a while."

Shoutarou frowned at that, pondering over it for a moment. "Just can't sleep, or pushing yourself too much?"

"I've been having interrupted sleeping cycles," admitted Philip. "A couple of hours a night and then waking up between them."

That frown turned into a scowl. "Anything changed recently that could have caused this?"

"The doctors are saying the blow to the head might have caused some irregularities. I'm going in for a sleep apneia test tomorrow." said Philip.

That eased his mind a bit, and he nodded. "Good, good. Let me know how it turns out."
