Forcellia, or at least the part of it that contained the clearing in which the group now found themselves, wasn't exactly welcoming. The ground was little more than rocky soil, the sky violet-grey and overcast. Here, it was evidently late afternoon, edging into evening. It was slightly humid, as if from a recent rain; faint clouds of steamy mist seemed to curl off the ground, partially obscuring their view of their surroundings. Scraggly trees rose up out of this mist here and there, as if grasping towards fresher air.

The villagers in the area had supposedly been contacted ahead of time, and this had been the place they’d agreed to meet the crew. Whether or not they knew anything about this supposed Scepter of Domination, however, was not yet clear. What the Scepter even did or how it might contribute to their struggle was even less clear.

In the distance, they might hear the occasional whinny of a horse, or the lowing of a cow carrying up to them from the distance, though it was difficult, if not impossible, to tell from which direction the sound was coming from.

Ronnae wasn't all too fazed, this was another mission, and one that had already started looking like her first venture into the Outlands. So she was already on alert as she moved down the ramp, armored up in her usual black and dark red regalia, sporting one of her many enhancement goggles atop her head.

She didn't draw her two massive weapons yet as she surveyed the area before nodding at Ellyn, "It isn't too bad. Maybe they are jus' late. The place doesn't seem to friendly to begin with, they might have encountered unfriendly company along the way."

Sakura had been spat out by GLaDOS and immediately put on mission.

Man, this felt just like home, if home had had a semi-psychotic computer running her through pointless tests in the name of science to keep her soul from taking leave and joining the greater intergalactic energy pool (or something).

"I prefer the optimistic possibility," she said, nodding to Ronnae. "But just in case they're all dead and we're possibly heading into a trap or any other generally unknown situation because the ship once again failed to give us complete mission information, what's the plan?"

Soren frowned; he'd never actually been on a mission before (well, not counting Lirath). "Ah, so we regularly operate on missing intelligence. And here I was thinking this time must be a unique occurrence. If they are dead, however, there is little we can do but attempt to locate another who might apprise us of the situation."

"Of course. Do we have any maps for settlements on this planet?" She looked over the area with a frown. "We're a war effort fought on missing intelligence. Is it really that surprising you see it on the small scale too?"

And she didn't even know two licks about Lirath yet. Or the Daligig coming onboard, and what could be learned from them.

Drat you, GLaDOS!

"I suppose small excursions like this one are slightly more pleasant than the big war from not long ago... But I generally distrust smaller missions such as these, they have a potential to be more shady than large scale ones."

She moved to the group and surveyed the area, keeping alert to the surroundings.

"Jus' keep on the lookout. The last thing we want is an ambush."

"Not that I was made aware of," said Soren of the possibility of a map. "Though I was under the impression that vital information is not missing so much as withheld for nebulous reasons."

He cast his gaze about in the mist, picking up a spear that had apparently been left on the ground. "If our welcoming party did leave, they did so with some haste."
