downtime. honest. [open]

In light of his injuries, Tim hadn't been doing as much work as he honestly would have liked to-- he was supposed to be taking it easy while he finished healing, and thus had spent more time around as himself, as opposed to as Red Robin.

Of course, he still had a lot of on his mind. Even without that taken into consideration, he wasn't a fan of idling. He'd spent a fair amount of time as 'Tim', at least, but beyond that-- well, if his work was being limited (though he could work on his own private things, as well), at least he still had training. He considered it physical therapy.

He had to be careful of course-- he was already probably moving himself too much-- but exercising was still important, after all. Even if it was lighter than he would normally allow himself. At least he was being sensible about it.

((ooc: Because of his injuries, Tim Drake is going to be around more than usual! While Red Robin is still in his usual haunts-- working with Engineering, Programming, Neuropathy, Security...--and with a decent amount of training mixed in. So feel free to run into him anywhere, as either, though those are the most likely places. c: ))

The last thing that Hit Girl was going to do be pissed off at anyone for following her and succeeding in surprising her: if anything, they deserved props for the feat to begin with. Besides, it was DRAKE. She liked Nightwing fine, Jason Todd was probably more like her, but she had always had a special place for Tim, especially after the last fight she had on Earth (they had called it "Robin's Revenge" for a reason, after all).

"Yeah well, you just tell yourself its not the REAL place or whatever, but then you think 'what the hell IS real anymore,' you know? So you just sorta chase pieces of it, even in all this rubble. And now, I guess, I'm trying to make something out of it."

She shrugged. It was oddly introspective, for her anyway.

"But whatever. You look kinda banged up. What are you doing?"

[I'd say she'd know before Jason Todd came back, so she doesn't know about Red Robin yet. She could guess though).

"In a way, it doesn't matter," Hit girl replied. "You can feel your world beating in all of this mess: why else would you be here? You were called, like everyone else here, because we have strengths and powers, and we know how to use them. So I'm not exactly belating myself knowing some shmuck's version: mine is here, and I intend to make it mine."

She shrugged. "Well, if you say so. You look like it could have been pretty bad, whatever. but relaxing is always good, if you need it. Me? I do all right. Minor cuts, some stupid random shots, nothing big. Im lucky: I'm much faster than i ever was on Earth, you know?"

It took a lot for Mindy not to say oh I KNOW who you are, but since coming to the ship, Mindy had made an effort not to tell people who's comics she read why she knew them. for all she knew, SHE could be a comic in someone's world, and she sure as hell wouldn't like the idea of someone rolling up on her and calling her experiences fiction.

"Well speed is just one of the things I'm getting good at: with the Ohm as a threat, threre's always more anybody can be doing, you know? I'm a little kid, but at least I can learn the basics, in case I need to help. Maybe I can help people load their weapons, or assist them in battle."

It was such a steaming load of shit, of course, that she would be doing anything like that, but she never knew hwo many people she could trust with knowing who Mindy Macready really was.

"I'm Mindy," she said. "So what kind of world do you come from?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
"You better believe it," Mindy said, playing into the voice. "I mean, helping out on the ship and being productive is a lot better than just lying around and being useless, you know? I get why the ship brings alot of these heroes and technical guys and all, by why bring kids at all? I don't think its because they believe we're the future and we'll be leading the way anytime soon."

A joke, and not a great one, but it at least might throw someone off the track. "So not so normal by people who are considered civilians, am I right?" She didn't have to be Hit Girl to show she was observant. "But normal by the standards of someone who's a little extraordinary, right? As for me, I'm a cop's little girl. You could say my upbringing wasn't all that normal either."

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-09-21 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well that would actually make sense," Mindy observed, "and from what I've seen, the ship isn't exactly big on doing things that make sense. Not that I really understand any of this: as far as I can grasp, aliens bad, living good, so we fight. But the more I listen to people, the more I realize we're kinda disorganized."

Not to mention probably lied to and messed with on a constant basis, Mindy thought additionally, but kept that to herself. "From what I've heard, there've been plenty of different kind of troubles on the ship, enough that it keeps people on their toes. Me, I dunno why I'm here, unless I'm supposed to analyze things and come up with plans, like Penny from Inspector gadget?"

She sure looked the part.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-09-23 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
"You think?" Mindy said, shaking her head. "If I were completely honest with myself, I should be dead along with plenty of other people in my world. Why am I here? Blah blah, feelings of sadness and stuff. So no point in feeling sorry for myself when aliens are coming, right? I have to be sensible."

Yup, play up the cop's daughter thing. It's not like it was even a lie, right? She was just specifically not getting into what a cop's daughter could actually DO.

"Oh c'mon, that's BORING," she declared. Robin, doing business and diplomacy? Man, he was half lying just as much as her! "You gotta have some other stuff up your sleeve, like, firepowers or something! Maybe you're a latent mutant!"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-09-24 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh he was good: he was very, VERY good, and he'd even have her fooled if she didn't know who he was. But then, wasn't that why she was able to lie so well to begin with? Heroes weren't supposed to put themselves out there, they were supposed to lead you away from the secrets about them. "Yeah, it won't. We have to find ways to be useful."

She could do it too, Robin. "Well, you don't know. You could be a mutant or something. Maybe I could be too! Though I hope I'm not, like, Jubilee, or that lame version of Rogue from the movie..."

Oops?

He was definitely trying to place her: it was Tim Drake after all, probably the smartest Robin that Batman had. Of course, she was from a place where his story was just a comic book, so it was better that she keep this information to herself.

And she had to be careful not to give Hit Girl away either.

"Eh, it doesn't matter: there are still plenty of ways to make yourself useful without having to be super powered. We are on a living ship of meat: we have access to all this training, whether to fight or to operate stuff. Knowing me, I might be able to pilot a ship or something."

Ha! That would be the day! Of course, she did know how to drive a car and a tank, so that was a start.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well look at me: if I was all about fighting, I wouldn't be here right now, digging around for things. I'd be, I dunno, training under a waterfall of something, like they do in the movies. The best I can do is find something I'm really good at and do it to the best of my ability. Piloting would take awhile."

Ah, truth sprinkled in with the lies. The best kind.

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Fake warmth. Ha. She knew all about that stuff: hell, she'd done it herself just to get what she wanted. Tim was good, and he would be amazing if she wasn't who she was (and knowing who he was helped, really).

"I know I will. I won't ever just sit back and let the adults do everything. The kids here have just as much to lose as anyone else!"

Ha. When was the last time she considered herself one of the kids here?

"It seems like such a simple thing to come to terms with, but people fight and backer all the time, and then there's so many factions on the ship, with a council and captain and such. So how do you get all these people to look out for each other when they don't even trust each other?"

[identity profile] hit-girl-mindy.livejournal.com 2011-10-01 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Well now, no, but its only a matter of time, right? All you need is just the right issue. If I were a villain, it'd be pretty easy. All you'd really have to do is play the characters morals against each other in just the right situation. The easiest way to do it would be the killing issue. We have a bleeding heart on the council: how easy do you think it'd be to manipulate her? Its weird, being on the ship and knowing at any time, someone will slip and then we'll be played against each other, or similarly not care."

Hints, Robin. She knows even YOU would see something like this coming. The clone planet and recovering the kidnapped was enough for that.
