Despite not requiring much in the way of food, Zouichi did know how to cook. But with friends and acquaintances from wildly different backgrounds, he figured he could stand to expand his repertoire. So today he was trying out desserts. The inside of one of the Sensoriums had been transformed into a brightly-lit kitchen, its counters covered with baking pans, bowls, fruit, flour, and a multitude of other ingredients.

Zouichi, wearing a dark blue apron, was just taking a batch of chilled dough out of the refrigerator, rolling it carefully out between waxed paper sheets. It was looking pretty good, or so he thought. Nothing had even exploded yet!

From somewhere within the kitchen, the smell of cake wafted up into the air. Caaake.

"Not stock, exactly. But the individuals the ship picks up have their possessions stored away here. And Weapons and Possessions is one such storage area."

Zouichi observes with some interest as Alendian sets the pastry to cool. What, no comment about inferior mon-keigh oven mitts?

"I no longer possess the weapon and equipment I used. That would make a difference, I believe."

"Then perhaps you might gain something from a visit." Most of Zouichi's possessions had been included in his locker... but that wasn't always the case.

"So, do Rangers and Aspect Warriors always follow the orders of a Farseer?"

Under her breath, she clicked a tongue. He really was persistent with questions, wasn't he? "Farseers have visions of the future so following the orders of one is the intelligent thing to do. They are what would be termed a superior officer but they are not a military commander. That position belongs to the Autarch."

Jeez, Alendian, it was called making conversation. Someone asks you a question, you answer, you ask them a question...

Also, he tended to be very curious. Just ask Ildraniath.

"Of course. But you seem to defer to her judgment even outside of military concerns."

"Farseers are well known for their wisdom. I believe that is enough reason for me to do what one says."

"She does bring up quite a few good points," Zouichi agreed. "Though in doing so, she often comes into conflict with the rest of the crew. Is it adequately cooled yet?"

"The rest of the crew are wrong then." That was quick out of her mouth. But she pulls out a knife. "If you are not weak, then yes, it is."

Zouichi wondered if she thought Ildraniath was right about everything, or just when the the opposing side wasn't Eldar.

"I'll take my chances." He wasn't totally sure what being weak had to do with eating pastries, but...

It means that if Zouichi complains about how hot it is, he is weak. To Alendian, at least. "Enjoy."

That sounded more like a command than a request, but Zouichi broke off a piece of the 'cookie', anyway, giving it a taste.

Hmm. Sweet, but not too sweet. The strawberries didn't overpower the taste of the dough, but rather worked in conjunction with it, creating an interesting contrast with the mild, flaky taste of the outer layers. If it had been made with too much fruit, the pastry would have been heavier. Too much dough and it would have been monotonous and dry.

"It's quite good," he said thoughtfully. "Perhaps I should ask you to show me more dishes in the future."

A smirk crosses her face. Of course it would be good tasting but for an Aspect Warrior, everything was a battle and this was one victory. "There could be a small possibility of that."

Wait, getting someone to say he liked your cooking was a victory? What was even going on

"Well, let me know how small a possibility by the time the next supply leave happens, or I won't be able to collect the appropriate ingredients." After all, real ingredients were better than Sensorium ones.

"Get the supplies and perhaps fate will move in your favor."

It was difficult to shop for ingredients when you didn't know what you were going to make. But he supposed it didn't really matter; he'd just acquire whatever he needed for the others. There was something he'd been meaning to make for Howard, too...

"Perhaps I'll ask someone to divine fate's intentions for me," he said. "Or just freeze what I don't need right away."
