Basking in the Sunlight [completely open, backdated before Vilgax Attacks]

Hoshi was starting to feel a lot better than she did previously and she decided to continue her relaxation by taking a small walk to Hydroponics. She hadn't been here too much, but it never hurt to go to somewhere new here. Following right behind her was Seraphiel, who was in his eagle form for right now.

When she entered it, she took in a breath of air and slowly exhaled it. Why hadn't she come to this place before? It was gorgeous! With a wide smile, she took a run around before deciding to stop and just relax on the grass. She laid back, using her good arm to use as a pillow and her other one at her side.

"I have to come back here more often," she muttered to herself, content to just lay back and bask in the sunlight that was washing over her.

Well, that was something she didn't exactly want to know, but, to be polite, she nodded at Howard.

"A lot of things! I've found different recipes to try, exercise regimens, and a few things to work on with the class I teach at Youth Services. I've also researched things to help out in Engineering, too."

"Wait, you teach youth services? How old are you?" He didn't think she was all that much older than he is.

"Yeah. I'm the Practical Combat teacher," Hoshi replied before smiling somewhat. "I'm sixteen years old, too."

"Fifteen. Probably," he says, gesturing to himself. And not keen on finding out what happens when he turns sixteen. "Practical combat like self defense?"

She nodded at Howard and then shook her head. "Kinda, yeah! I teach others how to think and apply tactics on the battlefield, whether it's attacking, defending, or going on stealth. But, I don't just teach that. I help others out with English or Japanese, maths, stuff like that."

He nods. "Zouichi mentioned I should look at taking classes like that. I think he was embarrassed I didn't know who Adam Turing was. I don't know. I always hated school." Although maybe it would be more tolerable with fewer people and actually learning interesting things.

Hoshi thought about something for a couple of moments before turning around to face Howard. "Want me to see about who would teach you? I could take care of practical combat along with some other things, if you'd like."

"Did you, um, miss the part where I said that I always hated school?"

"It's not exactly school," she replied quickly. "I won't assign homework."

"You're not my teacher and I'm not taking your class. I'm not signing up for anything, so let's just get that straight right now."

"All right, all right. Sorry," Hoshi said, waving her hands a little bit before she bit back a wince. Her hand went to cradle her wrist, rubbing it tenderly to try to soothe the pain.

Okay, maybe not the smartest thing I've done...

He glances at her posture. "What's up with your arm? Wrist? I'm a Medic."

"I broke it during the fight not too long ago," Hoshi admitted. "I was trying to save someone's life and got hit with something in the process. I went to med bay to get a cast on it and have done my best to follow their instructions."

"Ah, so you already got it looked at. Want me to check up on it?" Heroics. Go figure. He can't help but roll his eyes at her reasons.

"Sure, if you wouldn't mind." She held out her wrist for him to check up on it. Though, she did notice him rolling his eyes and chuckled a little bit. Okay, there were times she did stupid stuff, but when someone's life was in the balance, it was their safety over her own.

He sits on the grass next to her and motions for her to hold out her wrist. He's actually got very gentle hands - skilled hands, from medic work and the finer-detailed points of lockpicking and theft. "Whoever did this set it pretty good. You haven't put too much pressure on it or anything, right?"

She did as instructed, keeping her good arm wrapped around her legs, and unable to help but continue to smile. "I've been trying to keep as much off of it as possible. I've been strengthening my other hand so that I'm not just sitting by and waiting for it to heal."

"You do that too much and you'll get some serious Popeye action on that side," he says. "Can you flex your fingers without it hurting?"

All right, Hoshi couldn't help but snicker a bit at the Popeye reference. "I should be able to."

She went to flex her fingers, one by one, starting with her thumb and working upward.

"Yeah, it looks like you're recovering fine, but I'd keep it straightened with something solid. A brace, or something. We've got to have some of those lying around somewhere."

"I wouldn't mind accompanying you to the medbay to find one."

"Sure." He guesses asking her to stay put would be rude. "Follow me."

"All right." Hoshi stood up the best she could and she dusted herself off with her free hand. When he began to walk, so did she.

"So, Crazy Stacy beaten the optimism out of you yet?"

"Nope, it's still there. Sure, we've gone through some bad times, but that's no reason to act all mopey forever."
