"Kaylee." Billy wasn't happy about much lately, but seeing her was one of those things that could improve his mood. He held her as firmly as he could around the injuries, then gestured for them to settle down in two of the stools in the back of the room. "I'm glad someone's escaped and in good health, at least."
There was a distressing shortage of that in the area lately. He took a deep breath before beginning with the explanation.
"Well...it must've been a short while after you disappeared. We were called down to a planet called Lirath to help the GIA defend against an invading force of Ohm. It was a full scale assault---we had to fight them on the ground and in the air, and there were rogue groups complicating things too. At one point, they set off a cold bomb. I've heard that Kang was in the Med Bay for a while."
He gave her a second to make plans to see him if she hadn't known, then continued on. "The ship was being assaulted the entire time too. It's sustained extensive damage, and that's why the Daligig and their allies are on board. They're helping us rebuild before we leave. We were lucky, though---it could have been much worse."
How much worse? Well, that's for now. "In the end, the radiation level from the attacks was reaching critical levels. Everyone in the atmosphere would have died if we hadn't been saved---by Superman, who took on the last enemy himself. He succeeded in stopping the attacks, but he didn't make it. I don't believe there were any other crew member deaths, though."
Billy still regretted never getting to know him, but he was starting to see the cold reality of being grateful for those who survived. "Jamie and I were in combat with the Rangers. We fought on the ground and in our zords. Neither of us are too injured, but we're both aching."
