Lirath - Ground Battle

After dropping off some of the crew at Balisair, it was time for the crew to set course for Lirath. The situation greeting them wasn't the most promising.

The cracked surface of the moon called Lirath was one of its most unmistakeable features. One of the three moons of the planet Kehoe, it had been terraformed and served as a settlement for a hundreds of different species, some humanoid, some not. Despite occasional class struggles, environmental issues, and speciesism blocking their way, the darker parts of Lirath's past were largely left behind, and an era of peace and tolerance had reigned for quite some time. The only problems they'd had recently were with a terrorist group whose cause for their actions had been a mystery, but they weren't tied to any particular species or social group and had been likened to a cult and had largely gone quiet in recent years.

Now the peace on the moon of Lirath had been shattered by the invasion of the Ohm.

The capital city had been destroyed. Now, all that was left of the peoples of Lirath was evacuating from one of its smaller cities, one known as Smyteval. A desert city, existing in a valley in between a rocky range of canyons and mountains, even though it was in the low ground, the natural channels of rock served as bottlenecks for any Ohm attacking from the ground.

GIA squadrons patrolled in space, locked in explosive warfare, protecting the Bleed-gate that had been activated to see the evacuated ships to the refugee world, and a shield created by massively-powerful shield generators extended around the city and up into the atmosphere, creating a shielded tunnel so ships could escape.

Word had come that there was a vital weapon to be deployed on Lirath, one that needed to be destroyed, hence why the Transmigration 9 had been called in. Given the diverse crew, and the ships that were in its hangar, there was at least someone or something on board that could blow the weapon up if it did show.

There was no sign of it yet. Right now, there was just chaos, streams of evacuees boarding ships, armies of Ohm engaged with GIA soldiers outside the shields, and forcefields that everyone hoped would hold out just a little bit longer.

The crew would be following Leon's orders but finding themselves fighting side-by-side with GIA platoons, full of various species that were currently all getting their asses kicked severely.

Zouichi wasn't dead. Phew. Jr. let out a relieved huff of air, that added weight swept from his shoulders as quickly as it had dropped onto them. But the danger still loomed above them all, and Jr. rolled his shoulders to try and counter that growing cold from the bomb. The ground wouldn't be safe for any of those on-foot soon enough - he wondered quickly if the Ohm were balanced enough to hold their own on an icy ground. But right now he had to worry about making sure the Asher stayed up for just those reasons.

Aibghalien seemed to have a good counter to that, as Jr. turned to see the huge wall rise up from the ground. Definitely not as strange as the triceratops, which made Jr. let out a quick scoff of a laugh. "Nice," he spoke through the external communication line as his mech prepared its pile bunker to once again charge in toward one of the Titans.

The Titan was quick to realize that it had more to deal with aside from Aibghalien himself. After lending its partner the extra power, it moved again, backing away from the magical creature. It seemed to know this wasn't its intended target, not the one it should be going after. The Ohm circled around it, building speed and sending a few psychic blasts toward the triceratops and turning back to Aibghalien, saving the heavier attack from him. Its arm changed, materializing into a huge blade as it dived toward him, swinging the huge weapon wildly.

The second Titan didn't fare so well. It moved, but not fast enough from the EX-GEAR. Its clawed arm was blown clear off, leaving it with only its defensive one and its psychic energy. And the Ohm's side where the arm had just been was charred. But it didn't retreat or hesitate. It simply lifted its shield-arm, ready to protect itself as it mirrored its partner, a psychic blade materializing over it, huge and powerful and quick. It made a bee-like to the EX-GEAR, stabbing its blade straight forward to, just as Zouichi had just done, aim for his chest.

"Storm of Fire and Ice!" Aibghalien snapped, both arms descending. On magical cue, massive bursts of hail and fireballs burst out of the ground and the sky to form a cylinder around the Titan. The spell served a dual purpose -- not only damage, but in blinding the creature and leaving it unable to adequately target the wizard.

If it were a conventional blade, Zouichi might have very well just allowed himself to be stabbed so he could get a good bead on the thing without it trying to dodge on him. But psychic swords were just bad news. He hit a single button on the device at his wrist before veering off, attempting to get Aibghalien's spell column between him and his pursuer. He wheeled about sharply, firing a second shot directly at the Titan Aibghalien was aiming at. Might as well take the shot while he had it.
