Lirath - Ground Battle

After dropping off some of the crew at Balisair, it was time for the crew to set course for Lirath. The situation greeting them wasn't the most promising.

The cracked surface of the moon called Lirath was one of its most unmistakeable features. One of the three moons of the planet Kehoe, it had been terraformed and served as a settlement for a hundreds of different species, some humanoid, some not. Despite occasional class struggles, environmental issues, and speciesism blocking their way, the darker parts of Lirath's past were largely left behind, and an era of peace and tolerance had reigned for quite some time. The only problems they'd had recently were with a terrorist group whose cause for their actions had been a mystery, but they weren't tied to any particular species or social group and had been likened to a cult and had largely gone quiet in recent years.

Now the peace on the moon of Lirath had been shattered by the invasion of the Ohm.

The capital city had been destroyed. Now, all that was left of the peoples of Lirath was evacuating from one of its smaller cities, one known as Smyteval. A desert city, existing in a valley in between a rocky range of canyons and mountains, even though it was in the low ground, the natural channels of rock served as bottlenecks for any Ohm attacking from the ground.

GIA squadrons patrolled in space, locked in explosive warfare, protecting the Bleed-gate that had been activated to see the evacuated ships to the refugee world, and a shield created by massively-powerful shield generators extended around the city and up into the atmosphere, creating a shielded tunnel so ships could escape.

Word had come that there was a vital weapon to be deployed on Lirath, one that needed to be destroyed, hence why the Transmigration 9 had been called in. Given the diverse crew, and the ships that were in its hangar, there was at least someone or something on board that could blow the weapon up if it did show.

There was no sign of it yet. Right now, there was just chaos, streams of evacuees boarding ships, armies of Ohm engaged with GIA soldiers outside the shields, and forcefields that everyone hoped would hold out just a little bit longer.

The crew would be following Leon's orders but finding themselves fighting side-by-side with GIA platoons, full of various species that were currently all getting their asses kicked severely.

With a mighty flex of his muscles, Clark tossed off his attackers, sending them flying. His costume was already showing some signs of wear, but he didn't have time to worry about that. Between the Tank and the Devourer Worm, he had to make his choices count.

For the moment, it had to be the Tank. Rushing headlong, the Kryptonian met the Tank head on, a shockwave of sorts erupting as the two collided.

Jr. focused on saving them at least a few moment's time from more of the semi-distance incomings. The added air support was a great help as well-- and didn't he meet that dragon once before? A focused, earth-based Ether attack raised the ground, knocking a Tank upward and backward, hopefully barreling into the other Ohm-forms that trailed behind it.

The Ohm didn't take time to focus, they simply struck. The worm Kaya aimed for had luckily not seen her, but two Assassins did. And cloaked, shrouded against the background, they moved toward her with great speed, dangerous claws prepared to strike. Still a problem on their own, but the Bombardiers that chased her from the sky now changed targets, turning themselves around to bombard Hiccup and Toothless with claws when they were close and balls of acid when they weren't.

Some Guards rolled in to give more protection to the worms and other units Cargn and Clark aimed for. As well a line of Firebugs that shot distanced plasma blasts to the two of them. The closer enemies behind their protection attacked when they saw openings. Trying to confuse and catch the fighters off guard.

There was no time, not even to try and check to see if the blood bending would work. There were just too many enemies swarming them, and one false move would take her out of this. She could already sense approaching Assassins even if she couldn't see them, and blindly attacking the air wasn't going to get the trick done. So she decided to try a tactic they'd least expect, which would give HER some time: she took the water whip, dropped to her knees and solidified enough of the whip around her so anyone approaching would trip up.

It was a temporary solution to one Kaya knew she would now have to solve with her strength, as bending was no longer an option that would stay. She rolled out of her hiding place now, grabbing at the guns she'd previously discarded and fired several blasts. Any assassin coming forward would now get the brunt of her Bene Gesserit training, which aimed to incapacitate an opponent by hitting its weakest points and rendering it weakened to pick off. She went at the assassins at full gusto, using every ounce of speed she could muster, pausing only to catch her breath when she attacked again, shooting, then bending when necessary. She was getting hit all right, but she made sure to stay just out of reach of those poisoned claws.

Jalith noted the effects of his previous shots, one down, one stunned for a moment. A moment that he would use to his advantage as his sights locked on the Devourer worm that had erupted in the midst of the party. The guards rolling in to divert fire were no protection from a Vindicare's bullet. One trained to kill with but a single shot from afar. After but a moment of training his sights on the Worm he saw his chance and fired, his silenced rifle giving but a cough as it spat a high-caliber cogitator guided round, capable of piercing even Astartes power armour as if it were butter.

Shouting out devotional prayers in High Gothic, Cargn advanced forward, knocking aside the Guards gathering near him like they were toys with his staff, occasionally letting out a burst of fire from his Storm Bolter to make sure some of them stayed down. It wasn't long before he made his way closer to the Devourer Worm.

With a yell, he raised his staff, slamming it down against the massive creature's skin. Focusing his psychic powers through the staff, he sent a massive jolt of psychic energy surging through the beast's nervous system. Against a lesser enemy, it would have simply caused their brain to explode, but against a larger creature like the Worm, it could still cause it a massive amount of pain, throwing it off enough for someone else to strike a telling blow.

The Guards approaching Clark wouldn't have much to worry about, his fists taking them out before they got close. They were tiring him out. That's probably what they were gunning for.

With the Tank charging in once more, Clark charged at it once more, stopping it in its tracks. This time, however, he added in his heat vision, hoping to pierce the beast's hide and give others a spot to attack it.

The Assassins did leap back from Kaya's attack, but now knowing an obstruction was entirely possible, they'd just try to leap at her within the last few feet, limbs long and strong enough to spring them at her. Some fell to the ground, struck where she'd aim to shoot them, but more were making their way through the rubble. And quick on their legs, some of them spotted Cargn taking care of the worm, choosing to go after him as he focused.

The Tank fought against Clark's strength, pushing back against him even as his heat-vision seared it. But it didn't give in that easily, pushing its weight as hard as it could.

Kaya had to think fast: they were already coming at them pretty quickly, and they were making their way toward her too. At this moment she was forgetting that she was hindered by lack of water on this moon, or the fact that there wasn't even time to see if she could blood bend. She DID at least have her water satchel, and so long as she had water there, she would use t to her advantage.

She used the water whip like a flail again, only this time she solidified the water upon impact, making it more like a stream of ice, and aiming now at vulnerable parts of them. Speed drove her to gather what water broke back to her hands again, and reuse the whip again and again, beating her attackers back. When there was enough distance she brought out the plasma rifle and shot at them again, trying to drive them farther away from the others.

The bombadiers would find their moving target was moving a little too fast for them to catch. Several small adjustments with the foot pedal of Toothless's rig allowed for several hairpin turns that allowed the pair to dodge the blasts and then they were gone, streaking away to strike somewhere else on the battlefield.
