Lirath - Ground Battle

After dropping off some of the crew at Balisair, it was time for the crew to set course for Lirath. The situation greeting them wasn't the most promising.

The cracked surface of the moon called Lirath was one of its most unmistakeable features. One of the three moons of the planet Kehoe, it had been terraformed and served as a settlement for a hundreds of different species, some humanoid, some not. Despite occasional class struggles, environmental issues, and speciesism blocking their way, the darker parts of Lirath's past were largely left behind, and an era of peace and tolerance had reigned for quite some time. The only problems they'd had recently were with a terrorist group whose cause for their actions had been a mystery, but they weren't tied to any particular species or social group and had been likened to a cult and had largely gone quiet in recent years.

Now the peace on the moon of Lirath had been shattered by the invasion of the Ohm.

The capital city had been destroyed. Now, all that was left of the peoples of Lirath was evacuating from one of its smaller cities, one known as Smyteval. A desert city, existing in a valley in between a rocky range of canyons and mountains, even though it was in the low ground, the natural channels of rock served as bottlenecks for any Ohm attacking from the ground.

GIA squadrons patrolled in space, locked in explosive warfare, protecting the Bleed-gate that had been activated to see the evacuated ships to the refugee world, and a shield created by massively-powerful shield generators extended around the city and up into the atmosphere, creating a shielded tunnel so ships could escape.

Word had come that there was a vital weapon to be deployed on Lirath, one that needed to be destroyed, hence why the Transmigration 9 had been called in. Given the diverse crew, and the ships that were in its hangar, there was at least someone or something on board that could blow the weapon up if it did show.

There was no sign of it yet. Right now, there was just chaos, streams of evacuees boarding ships, armies of Ohm engaged with GIA soldiers outside the shields, and forcefields that everyone hoped would hold out just a little bit longer.

The crew would be following Leon's orders but finding themselves fighting side-by-side with GIA platoons, full of various species that were currently all getting their asses kicked severely.

Things were getting hectic. And seeing as everyone else was doing the same, she'd follow suit with the lightning blast.

"Uh... W-Will-neesan! Please stay close and watch out! THUNDARA!"

A split second later, both Sasami and Will would be surrounded by bolts of lightning, striking a ring of Ohm around them.

Cutting into a few more, he shoved his fist into the carapace of one and fired, a tornado ripping into it and plowing into several dozen more behind it. He looked over his shoulder at Sasami and the others and nodded to himself. Good, they were doing fine.

Phantom lights floated around Aqua as she darted faster than the Ohm could see, short-range teleporting around them as she attacked, forcing several into a tight circle. Once she'd managed to get them there, she struck from all sides, leaving streaks of light in her wake to surround them. She then teleported into the air as the light streaks converged to destroy the Ohm trapped within them.

The Ghost Drive faded away as she held her Keyblade against the rest of the Ohm.

"Let Sasami or me know if anyone needs healing. Between the two of us, we can handle it."

Will nodded. "Got it!" She shouted, flying up into the air a bit higher, looking for more Ohm to blast when they started getting closer.

The Ohm were starting to swarm closer, forcing Sasami to fight back a bit more defensively. As a group of Grunts got closer, Sasami swung her staff in an arc, knocking them back.

Right now, she wish she had an edge, a blade, something...!

Making sure not to stray too far away from the others, Negi flickered back, leaving a crackling wave of ozone as the Ohm filled in gaps. "We need to make an opening," said Negi, falling back. "Hitting them from all sides isn't going to work, so let's make some breathing room."

Chanting, he slammed his hand to the ground as a tornado erupted around the four, spreading outwards and hurling Ohm everywhere away from them. "This'll hold for a moment. We should hit them hard in one shot to give the GIA members more chance to push them back."

"Got it," Aqua answered, gathering her power and beginning to twirl.

As she spun, light gathered around her. The more graceful and intricate the dance, the more orbs of light were thrown off of her to hit the Ohm. The attacks wore down a few Grunts until they were destroyed, but most of them were forced away.

Will landed on the ground as that tornado appeared, already moving to channel her energy to throw her lightning over in the same direction of Aqua's magic to hit more of the Ohm.

Sasami followed suit, launching another Blizarra attack. However, another Grunt escaped her attack and made a lunge at her.

Before anyone could react to the scream, the three would see a frozen Grunt close to Sasami, a claw snagging the rope belt around her skirting.

Negi's heart skipped a beat when he heard Sasami yell like that, but when he looked, he breathed a sigh of relief. "Okay, bunch up. We'll need to hit this hard and fast."

He raised a hand as magic gathered around it. "Lightning Element." And he casually decapitated the grunt holding onto Sasami with the dark energy sword.

Terror struck Aqua when she heard Sasami's scream, and she only just had the chance to breathe a sigh of relief when she saw that Sasami had frozen it. It had been a good idea to set up the D-Link.

But that was it. Aqua gripped her Keyblade tightly and began a Time Splicer attack--stopping time on several Grunts while teleporting around to attack them wildly. When she was through, most of the Grunts had fallen dead while others were still caught by a Slow spell and were easy enough for her to finish off.

Will moved forward, launching more of her Quintessence over towards those grunts that had survived Aqua and Negi's assaults.

While she had frozen the Ohm, she had realized that her skirting nearly killed her. Negi had stepped on it during their training and now an Ohm nearly used it to kill her.

Pulling away from the Ohm's frozen carcass, she let the rope belt be torn and the skirting drop to the ground, showing what hid underneath - short shorts, shin plates similar to what Reimi had...

And bladed anklets, which an advancing Ohm was greeted with, cutting into it.

"No... you're not getting me! I won't let you!"

Aqua continued attacking the Ohm, finally raising her Keyblade in the air and creating magic circles. Teleporting into the air, she struck each circle with her Keyblade, slamming them into the Ohm beyond her.

Negi smirked at that, continuing his chanting. Power was building and the Ohm could sense it as they attacked, but a shield of energy was building around him, courtesy of Chamo who held his Pactio card below.

Targeting glyphs appeared everywhere and the crackle of ozone grew sharp in the air.

... Okay, Will REALLY needed to look into figuring out how to make new ways of having her lightning do stuff. Or learn how to use a sword. Or a rocket launcher. Or power armor.

Because really, all she had was flinging lightning around. Which she did. Again.

Part of Sasami right now was thinking the same thing, Will - it was only so far that a staff could do in fighting these beasts. Smacking a few of them, she followed it up with Finish, a set of magic orbs spiraling around the girl and sending Ohm flying as she did.

Magic spiraled around Aqua as she leapt and spun, striking several surrounding Ohm.

Seeing how Will seemed to be frustrated, she called out, "Will! I'm going to try something. Be ready with your lightning!"

Moving closer to Will, she made sure her attack wouldn't hurt her while she cast Magnega, drawing several Ohm closer to them. Next, she cast Transcendence (http://kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Transcendence), generating an antigravity field around them. As the Ohm went flying into the walls of the field, Aqua shouted, "Now, Will!"

Will couldn't help but grin as she noticed what Aqua had in mind. "Got it!" she shouted, thrusting her arms forward to send out a stronger blast of lightning over towards the Ohm that were flying into the energy walls, frying them alive.

Now.

Lightning crackled as Negi unleashed the spell on the battlefield, mixing with the others attacks. A raw anti-army spell blazed forth, scarring the landscape and destroying many Ohm in the process.

Sasami wasn't going to miss out on this. With the added mobility granted by discarding her skirting, she quickly joined the three, adding her Thundara spell to the mix.

It was probably gonna be a big explosion with all of this...

Even with lightning exploding all over the place, Aqua wasn't done yet. She pointed her Keyblade at a few Grunts and ordered, "Freeze!" summoning spires of ice from below to spear right through them. Sticking to ice spells for the time being, she hurled her Keyblade at a Grenadier, freezing it before she caught her blade again.

Ice magic surrounded her as she reached her Diamond Dust form, and she raced toward the Grenadier, slashing at it with freezing blows. She released a blast of ice crystals around her, destroying it and injuring several surrounding Ohm.

Well, damn. Aqua was pretty amazing, wasn't she?

Not that Will could really afford to standby and just watch Aqua, so there she was, blasting a few more of the Ohm with another blast of lightning.

Negi had to whistle at that. Hot damn.

Floating down, he grinned. "That put a lot of dents in it."

Cracking his knuckles, Negi began to wind up into another lightning spell, striking down a couple that Aqua missed.

Deep down, Sasami was depressed. Negi, Will and Aqua were holding their own fairly well. And while she was still striking down others, she was way out of her league. Part of her wanted to fall back, give Aqua and the others a chance to not worry about her, but what about the others? What would they say if she fell back because she thought was useless?

Thus, she kept fighting, going easy on her magic for the time being, trying to figure out what to do...
