Lirath - Ground Battle
After dropping off some of the crew at Balisair, it was time for the crew to set course for Lirath. The situation greeting them wasn't the most promising.
The cracked surface of the moon called Lirath was one of its most unmistakeable features. One of the three moons of the planet Kehoe, it had been terraformed and served as a settlement for a hundreds of different species, some humanoid, some not. Despite occasional class struggles, environmental issues, and speciesism blocking their way, the darker parts of Lirath's past were largely left behind, and an era of peace and tolerance had reigned for quite some time. The only problems they'd had recently were with a terrorist group whose cause for their actions had been a mystery, but they weren't tied to any particular species or social group and had been likened to a cult and had largely gone quiet in recent years.
Now the peace on the moon of Lirath had been shattered by the invasion of the Ohm.
The capital city had been destroyed. Now, all that was left of the peoples of Lirath was evacuating from one of its smaller cities, one known as Smyteval. A desert city, existing in a valley in between a rocky range of canyons and mountains, even though it was in the low ground, the natural channels of rock served as bottlenecks for any Ohm attacking from the ground.
GIA squadrons patrolled in space, locked in explosive warfare, protecting the Bleed-gate that had been activated to see the evacuated ships to the refugee world, and a shield created by massively-powerful shield generators extended around the city and up into the atmosphere, creating a shielded tunnel so ships could escape.
Word had come that there was a vital weapon to be deployed on Lirath, one that needed to be destroyed, hence why the Transmigration 9 had been called in. Given the diverse crew, and the ships that were in its hangar, there was at least someone or something on board that could blow the weapon up if it did show.
There was no sign of it yet. Right now, there was just chaos, streams of evacuees boarding ships, armies of Ohm engaged with GIA soldiers outside the shields, and forcefields that everyone hoped would hold out just a little bit longer.
The crew would be following Leon's orders but finding themselves fighting side-by-side with GIA platoons, full of various species that were currently all getting their asses kicked severely.

Once high enough to make a jump, he kicked as hard as he could off the edge of it, leaping into the air and landing into the large mechanical hand waiting for him.

The Tank chasing after him missed by meters, slamming its heavily armored body into one of the abandoned buildings nearby as Zouichi bought the Nightmare into a steep vertical climb, the force from its thrusters shattering empty windows and sending glass skittering to the ground. He brought the craft to the roof of the building, hovering slightly above its surface and opening the fighter's hand to allow Jr. a flat platform.
The Shrikes that had been following in the Tank's wake swooped upwards, banking around for an attack pass. A blast of the GERWALK's particle cannon took out several of them, but that still left several more heading straight towards them...

And when the moment was right, Jr. aimed at the incoming enemies, sending the huge balls of energy flying at them at the speed of a bullet. Two of them hit two of the targets, and the moment the dark energy hit them, they expanded until they combined and formed one, huge sphere around the remainder of them who hadn't been aimed at. A surge, and an explosion, and the number of them fell freely to the ground below.

Was the Tank, who apparently was much, much better at jumping than it looked. It launched itself high in the air with sudden speed, forcing Zouichi to bat at it with the GERWALK's unoccupied arm, shaking the frame of the fighter. The Tank flew backwards into another of the buildings, but found its feet quickly to leap at them again.
You know, said Zouichi. I think we might have to relocate in a moment.

Once he had his balance back, he looked around almost desperately. "But..." Weren't they just going to follow them? Retreating to another area might be a good idea, but with the quickly growing number of Ohm in the area, would they even make it that far?

A gruff voice spoke to them. On the ground, a small group of GIA Assault troopers also appeared from the rubble, staying clear of the Assault Walker as they went after the Grunts and the Assassins that tried to stop their attack on the Tank.

As the swarm of additional airborne Ohm bore down upon them, Zouichi fired the Nightmare's anti-Vajra cannon once more, lighting up the sky in a brilliant burst of energy.

Jr. next idea wouldn't be his greatest moment, however. Being on the outside of the GERWALK gave him some extra shielding, that much was true. But he didn't have a lot of room to move himself, either. Not that on the ground was much different when you had swarms of Grunts and Assassins and other Ohm. So clearly the sky was the next best thing.
When one of the few Bombardiers that managed to swoop out of the way of the Nightmare's cannon got close enough, Jr. jumped on top of it, steering clear of where he watched to see where its acid attacks came from.

Zouichi lifted off from the roof, firing into the crowd of Bombardiers (though not the one Jr. had mounted, of course), drawing some of their attention and hopefully their acid fire.

Maybe you should ride rodeo.

And even the best grip couldn't hold on against forces that powerful. Jr. went flying off of it.

"That didn't go exactly as planned" he breathed.

And it was right back to the fighting.

Looks like we've earned a bit of a break. You okay here?

With that, Zouichi brought the fighter into a flashy roll before taking off in search of more targets.
