It had been a while since Hay Lin had made her way to the sensoriums, but at a time like this she felt it was necessary. Matt and Irma had both left, and she hadn't spent as much time with Will as she could've. As she flew through the simulated night sky toward a rock cliff overlooking the ocean, she silently told herself to rectify that as soon as possible.

We're friends, and...we're all each other has at this point. she thought, touching ground while staring as the tide started to come in. Matt's been repodded, and so has Irma - but at least we're still here.

Aqua had noticed Hay Lin heading to the sensoriums, and she'd debated for a moment whether she should follow her or respect her privacy. Though they were both part of Sasami's family, Aqua never really had talked to Hay Lin much, and they didn't have much of a relationship. Still, she couldn't just leave her there if something was wrong.

"Hay Lin?" she asked softly. "Are you okay?"

Hay Lin had barely touched ground on the simulated cliff when she heard Aqua's question; turning around, she reminded herself that Aqua was also part of Sasami's family. She hadn't made time to try and get to know her personally, but that could change...right?

"...Well, let's just say that with every good corner, you're bound to hit a few bad ones. I'm just paying my dues. Have any of your friends showed up yet, Aqua?"

Aqua shook her head. "I just have to trust that they're all okay. Is that why you're here?"

Hay Lin responded with a light nod. "...Matt was repodded a while ago, and so was Irma. Lately, we were more than just best friends."

Aqua sat on the cliff, silent for a moment.

"It's hard," she admitted. "Being separated from the people you care about. You want to have them all together, to keep them safe. But it's not possible."

Hay Lin sighed lightly, nodding once more while sitting down near Aqua.

"Besides me, Will's the only one left from home. We haven't talked about what we'll do next...but if they can't be safe here at least they're safe in those pods."

"It helps knowing that, at least," Aqua admitted. "It's one less thing you have to worry about, even if it feels like it'd be easier to have them right by you."

Hay Lin offered Aqua a light smile while nodding in agreement. "It does...how'd you get to know Sasami, Aqua?"

"She just found me," she admitted. "It's probably the same with everybody. She just draws people to her and looks for people who need someone to care about."

"Actually...the opposite kinda happened with me." Hay Lin replied after a moment. "We were drawn to each other, I helped her out as we developed a bond and now..."

"Sounds like the two of you had a lot in common to start with," Aqua noticed.

"We've got things in common with each other, and we've got our differences..." Hay Lin agreed, feeling better with each passing second.

"But what is boils down to is that it might not be by blood but she's my mei-mei, and while I know she can fend for herself I'll do whatever it takes to look out for her.

"You feel the same way, right?"
