See How My Garden Grows [Very Open]

He hadn't done much laying around as a teenager. He'd always been too busy, one social event to another.

After the Yeerks...well, Temrash had less love for being lazy than Iniss did, but neither of them were really set on protracted periods of inactivity. And there was always something Sharing related, or feeding related, or just...something. Rank play had been a major time suck in his youth, and needing to be somewhere every three days made planning anything else a bit of a suck.

He'd flopped down on the hill next to the garden he had spent so much time losing time in, one hand gripping Bobby's leash to keep the dog from running off, but eyes closed and body relaxed.

Too much stuff was happening, lately. He wasn't used to keeping up with it anymore. Jake was back and Sam was dating Xander and Dean and Kaylee had broken up. He wasn't even sure how to handle half of that, much less all of it at once.

No wonder the garden looked so well tended, the neat rows gave him something to do, something to think about, something that made perfect sense because plants needed like...two things, water and weeding, and they weren't much on demanding an emotional investment beyond that.

Bobby shifted, licking his hand and resting his head on his shoulder, watching the chickens and their chicks poke around nearby.

Why couldn't life just be this simple?

"Be in the army all your life," she answered, shrugging. Lash didn't think herself strange for it.

Yes Tom! It certainly wasn't anything explosive hidden in there...no really there were no traps. Lash would have sorted them out but let's be honest, she had had a lot more important things happening to her on the planet then putting in everything in alphabetical order.

"I got them on Galilee," she explained, picking one of the packets that had started the entire reason why she was here. She held it up to him, the name Romanesco Broccoli plastered all over it. "You need to grow these! And the other stuff, I guess." She looked at the seed pile again. "About eighty percent of it is just dumb flowers seeds," Lash added, taking another packet and showing him the strangely colored Tagetes. "It's not very useful but eh, it was a hobby store." She pointed to another seed packet, this one purple tomatoes. "I hope you like odd fruit and vegetables, because they seemed more to be about aesthetics than anything else. I don't think anyone really farmed for food over there."

But hey, free seeds!

"Well uh..." Lash looked at the seeds again before continuing. "See, when everyone else was busy doing their things we were pretending to pick sides and fight with each other. Zetta and I took off still pretending to be fighting and then we prolonged borrowed a bunch of things." She shrugged. "That was before they threw the clones at us and fought us tooth and nail so I consider it fair payment."

"Well it is warn" she reminded him. "Can't get have a battle and have everyone leave it unscathed. Kon lost one of his hands. Ruffnut was out cold when we found her." Lash couldn't imagine what the other girl would have ended up if they hadn't. "Civilian deaths were kept at minimum. A lot of our clones fell too."

She said most of these like listing off a battle report. It wasn't too hard to guess that Lash was used to this type of thing. "But I guess some people will like the flowers to cheer them up or something."

Not that Lash cared! Honest!
