Hoshi decided to take one of the treats she had made to the Atori Teahouse for it to be shared with her friends. It was a small cake, enough for people to have seconds and thirds, if they so chose to.

She arrived with a knock on the door, a beaming smile on her lips. "Philip! I've got something for you!"

Shoutarou, meanwhile was marveling at the sheer amount of books.

"I have to wonder if you bought out an entire library, Philip," he said, looking at the titles of a few. "Can you even read some of these?"

Oh hey, someone else showed up. "Hey, Hoshi."

"Watch where you walk," Ren called out automatically as he made his way past a white board set precariously on top of a stack of books on basketweaving across several cultures: Australian Aboriginal, Subarctic, Klingon, Cherokee.

Out of curiosity, Sasami had wanted to check in on Philip after his time at the Masaki home. She couldn't help but worry about him, especially after finding out what he was capable of doing with those books.

Noticing Hoshi enter, Sasami made her way over and peeked in. "Um... hello? Can I come in, too?"

"Hey, Shoutarou and Ren," Hoshi greeted, waving her hand. She was careful with how the books were strewn about in the teahouse, stepping over a few piles here and there with the cake above her head. Once she had made her way over to a table, she put the cake down.

"I made dessert for us," she said before turning around. "Sure, I don't see why not, Sasami!"

"Ah cake! I wasn't aware you were in a baking mood today," remarked Philip, surprisingly dropping his book to the side and grinning at the others.

"Sometimes I learn new languages for fun, Shoutarou," he added.

Shou nods in Ren's general direction. "I remember," he adds, then looks up. "Oh, it's the cafe girl! Hello!"

Shoutarou chuckles at Philip. "I'm not surprised."

"I like to bake no matter what! And, I thought it'd be nice to share with you guys," Hoshi replied, taking the top off of the cake while she searched around for dishes and forks.

Go ahead and read what was on the cake itself. She thought it was just a little harmless message.

Sasami smiled as she was invited in, though she couldn't help but blush at what Shou had called her.

"It's good to see all of you in good spirits, though!" she said. Curiosity got the better of her as she looked at the cake's message.

"There's a message on it?" inquired Philip, looking the cake over. "Happy 1st(?) Month Anniversary?"

Shoutarou looks up, and over at Philip as he reads the message out loud. "...anniversary?"

Hoshi sputtered, her face turning red. "W-Wha... N-No, no -- I thought it was 'Happy Friendship'!"

She's gonna sink down a bit now.

"Anniversary?" Sasami uttered. "Anniversary for what?"

Ren knew a trainwreck when he saw it, and he asked, "Did someone else do the writing? What did they think happened a month ago?"

He hadn't been on the Marriage Planet, and his sense of time was skewed between the ship and everything since the Melting Clock.

Hoshi sighed, muttering incoherencies under her breath before taking a huge sigh.

"...A month or two or so, there was this mission where Philip and I were sent on, and there were a few requirements, like the ritual of judgment that would deem us worthy of gaining entrance into the village, and then there was a ritual of joining, that well..."

She paused and ran her hand through her hair. "For that, we had to get married and kiss and, yeah. There you go."

She was going to reflect back on that memory now.

Shoutarou's just going to stare for a bit, as he's not really sure what to say. Granted, he'd teased Hoshi before about seeming like she liked Philip, but he wasn't expecting anything like this to pop out of the woodwork. He's rather speechless, to say the least, complete with awkward head-scratching.

"It just sort of happened," remarked Philip.

"Oh. Ohhh. Ohhhhh..." Sasami uttered, realizing what was going on. She had put that behind her, truth be told. Admittedly, it worried her to see Mindy act all clingy to her because, though.

There was a sound from Ren that might have been a snort. At any rate, he was barely holding back a smirk as he said, "Good reason for cake, then."

By now, Hoshi had sunk behind a nice pile of books, embarrassment clearly written on her face. She grumbled and hid her face in her hands. This couldn't get any worse than it was right now, right?

Shoutarou shakes his head a bit, sighing and then smiling. "Strange occurrences, but I never expected you to get married so soon, Philip."

Luckily, he's not making any cracks about the honeymoon. Yet.

"I wasn't expecting it for a while at least," admitted Philip. "I'm just glad they didn't require consummation during the wedding night."

"Consumm--" Sasami began to say before realizing what he meant. Her cheeks started to flare red as she realized what would of happened...

"P-PHILIP!" Hoshi said in embarrassment, feeling her cheeks now be positively red.

"This is not happening, this is not happening--"

Don't mind Shoutarou, he'll just be over here in full-on immature-snickering mode as Philip's legendary lack of social graces rears its head. Now that was definitely something he missed having around.

"It was odd though. In preparation in case they insisted, I read up on how to do it. Though I've got no practice," remarked Philip, folding his arms.

"Practice what?" Sho asks as he enters the room. "And did I hear someone say consumation?"

Hoshi smacked her hand against her forehead and dragged her hand over her face. She sighed and stood back up again, deciding to just get it over with.

"Philip, can I speak with you privately?" she asked, biting down a bit on her lower lip.

Shoutarou has to stop and wipe his eyes a bit from all the laughing, then lets out a heavy sigh. "I feel better."

"Don't worry," Ren insisted to Sho, having a harder time fighting off a smile now. It was hard to hide your emotions when your roommate failed at social skills this spectacularly. "Philip was sharing his research with us. Next time, we'll have to make sure the kid is out of the room first."

"Ah right." He handed his book over to the closest person and joined Hoshi. "We'll just be a minute."

After the confession, Hoshi was feeling a lot calmer than she was beforehand. She went over to where she was previously and went to finally serve the cake to everyone here.

"Anyone want anything to drink?"

Shoutarou smirks, having taken up residence on a couch in the meantime with a piece of cake. "I'll have some of whatever's got you so happy, little lady."

Sasami noticed how calmer Hoshi was, a stark contrast to her nervous and flailing moments earlier.

"Hoshi-neesan, what happened? Did something...?" she began before she started piecing the parts together. She let out a gasp and grinned widely.

"...you told Philip-niisan you liked him, didn't you?!"

Ren wasn't going to doubt Sasami's guess. Either way, it was going to come out.

"If even she saw it, then you two were probably the only ones on the ship oblivious," he pointed out.

Hoshi audibly squeaked, grumbling and pulling a face at Sasami. Was it really that obvious? She wasn't sure.

"Ah... Maybe. I could be happy for various other reasons, though."

Shoutarou chuckled knowingly at Ren. "I just got here and I managed to pick up on it." He smirks, adjusting his hat. "But, no big strain for a master detective..."

Humility? What's that?

"Oh, fine! Yes, we admitted our feelings to one another."

And now Hoshi was going to go find something to cover her face with since it was positively red right now.

Shoutarou finally relents in his teasing, hopping up off the couch and moving to stand over by Hoshi, patting her on the shoulder. "Congrats, then - and we're only ribbing you because we like you, Hoshi."

"Yeah, well... I like you all too."

It was strange how things worked here on Stacy, but Hoshi found herself appreciating her little surrogate family she made here on it. She decided to give a smile up at everyone, feeling that things were going to work out from now on.

When Philip had joined her, Hoshi tried to remain calm and composed. There were so many thoughts racing through her mind and she was trying to think of a good way to start.

And, so, they were in one of the rooms in the teahouse with her rubbing her arm a bit.

"So, um, I have something to tell you." Easy enough to start off, right?

"Is it about us?" inquired Philip curiously. "I must admit I'm curious."

"Yeah," she replied, nodding.

"Hypothetically, what would you say if I liked you in a way that went farther than a friendship or even a partnership?"

Blink. "Well I'd be new to it. Or is this what they called infatuation? I've never really felt it before..."

Well he had, once. With Wakana. Boy that was awkward.

"I-I'm sure it's not infatuation and it's new for me, too!" she spoke with a little haste in her voice.

"Um... Please don't take it the wrong way, but I really do feel that way for you. You've been really nice to me and I feel really relaxed around you. So, I guess what I'm trying to get at is I really, really like you."

"I..." Philip grew silent, feeling a little tongue tied. What was he going to say? He was honestly confused about his feelings too but he nodded. "This... this is really new to me too..."

"I can understand if you don't want to, but I'd be happy to work at a relationship with you, Philip." She went to take his hands into hers, rubbing the backs of them with her fingertips.

Her heart was pounding against her chest, her face still red as she was saying this. She just hoped this would turn out with good results to it.

"..." He brushed his thumb against her hand when she held it, and he smiled lightly. "Sure. I'll work at it too. I can't promise I'll be perfect at it. But... I'll be glad to try."

Overcome with joy and relief, she wrapped her arms around him and laughed happily. "I'm so happy!"

Yep, she was fully aware that the others could probably hear her, too.
