Well you can figure out the rest: he was voted in, and he's been captain ever since. So he sort of runs in the ways someone who was, say, chief officer would. Its why he reacts to dissension on the ship when there's a mission involved pretty quickly."
She didn't envy his job, and she was actually idealistic. She knew it would take a heck of a lot to get this crew together, to have them working alongside each other and making a stand against the Ohm without deciding they alone knew what was best.
"I didn't vote for him, mostly because I thought he made a better security chief. As a captain, well, we could do worse. He's at least keeping us together."
