The Open D/Meeting New People

It'd been a few days since Shoutarou put up the announcement about the Agency being open for business.

Granted, 'business' was a relative term on board Stacey, and given the general peaceful nature of the ship, Shoutarou didn't expect much - which was a good thing, as he hasn't gotten much. Or, well, anything so far.

He can only patrol so much, same with sitting in on brig folks - he can't hog all the shifts to stay busy. So for now, he's kicked back at his desk, feet propped up while he sips at a bit of coffee.

Someone should poke him before he starts to monologue to himself. He'll do it!

Looking at the thing, Shoutarou turns it over a few times - he didn't pretend to understand how the things worked. "More science than magic, but it may blur the line a bit between the two."

"Monsters..." Shoutarou nods. "Dealt with a few organizations like that. The things people will do for power can be horrifying."

"Yeah. An' it weren't ever human ta begin with, so it did some pretty nasty things, at least so m'mother said. What's science?"

She shook her head. "Can't disagree with ya there, 'bout what some folk'll do fer power. I mean, sure I got it, but I'm content with what I got, ya know? Even that--un'er control an' reined in--scares th' juice outta people sometimes. I ain't gotta go 'round makin' displays or lightin' m'self on fire ta get m'jollies." Ellyn grunted.

Then again, there was that one elf who wanted displays, but...he was kind of weird anyway, really.

Cue a deer-in-the-headlights look as Shoutarou tries to figure out how to explain science.

"Uh. It's what. Uhm. Scientists do. Stuff that's...not magic, I guess." He scratches his head a bit, looking awkward. "I'm not certain how to explain it well."

Shoutarou nods. "Yeah, I know the freak-outs all too well. Best thing we can do is show that we're responsible with our power."
