The Open D/Meeting New People

It'd been a few days since Shoutarou put up the announcement about the Agency being open for business.

Granted, 'business' was a relative term on board Stacey, and given the general peaceful nature of the ship, Shoutarou didn't expect much - which was a good thing, as he hasn't gotten much. Or, well, anything so far.

He can only patrol so much, same with sitting in on brig folks - he can't hog all the shifts to stay busy. So for now, he's kicked back at his desk, feet propped up while he sips at a bit of coffee.

Someone should poke him before he starts to monologue to himself. He'll do it!

Soren frowned disapprovingly. "That moment in which you want to lose control is precisely the moment in which you must not. Rash actions lead to unnecessary deaths. Fighting and killing should be done in cold blood, not in the heat of the moment."

Soren tried not to laugh. He'd thought Shoutarou was an idealist, which was bad enough, but now he was convinced the man was a buffoon. 'Protect people's smiles'? What jest.

Rulers protected their countries by maintaining their borders. Peasants protected their villages by repelling bandits and pirates.

All required killing. Or waiting until your enemies had amassed enough allies and experience to ruin everything you'd worked to create.

"I see. Well, now that I've satisfied my curiosity, I think I should stop taking up your time. I wish you luck with your... ambitious endeavors."
