The Open D/Meeting New People

It'd been a few days since Shoutarou put up the announcement about the Agency being open for business.

Granted, 'business' was a relative term on board Stacey, and given the general peaceful nature of the ship, Shoutarou didn't expect much - which was a good thing, as he hasn't gotten much. Or, well, anything so far.

He can only patrol so much, same with sitting in on brig folks - he can't hog all the shifts to stay busy. So for now, he's kicked back at his desk, feet propped up while he sips at a bit of coffee.

Someone should poke him before he starts to monologue to himself. He'll do it!

"Not at all!" Hoshi replied enthusiastically. "The reaction you had was natural. I mean, learning that your world was destroyed right after you woke up in a strange place warranted such an outburst. Besides, you're a cool guy, Shoutarou."

Okay, so she was wondering what exactly came over her after the Rider training session. She knew better than to act like a child over something as silly as protecting the other. Shoutarou was just doing his job and that thing known as pride got in the way. She felt pretty dumb over the reaction she had, as well.

Shoutarou was going to protest that even in such a situation, he was totally out of line, but the compliment throws him off.

"Ah...uh..." He glances away, laying the keys down on his desk. "I'm just doing what I do," he answers, half-mumbling as he tugs his hat down a bit.

"Even so!"

Okay, since she was feeling sappy, Hoshi went to give Shoutarou a hug. "You're good at what you do, big brother."

... Nope. She wasn't aware of what she had said. Not at all.

Stammering and a bit of squirming followed - as well as a faint tint of red on his face. "Oi, oi, what's gotten into you, Hoshi?" Not that he didn't appreciate the gestures, but he had a delusion to keep up, after all.

Granted, there was something oddly nice about someone calling him 'big brother'.

Hoshi chuckled and let go of Shoutarou, a little playful grin on her face. "What, do I have to be annoying all the time with you?" she asked, giggling after it.

She still wasn't aware that she called him 'big brother'. Maybe you wanted to let her know that, Shoutarou?

He gives her a look of confusion, raising an eyebrow at her. "No, just..." He scratches his head again. "You called me 'big brother'."

Oh... She bowed her head a bit, biting down on her lip.

"... Sorry," she said after an awkward moment's pause. "I... guess I got caught up in the moment?"

"I'm not bothered, it was just rather unexpected." Shoutarou still looks a fair bit perplexed. How does one react to getting called that?

"I can stop calling you it if you'd like. I just... don't know where it came from, and-- oh geez, I'm sorry--" Right, she had to remember to still stay calm. How the hell did Sasami get over this when she adopted the ones she called sisters?

Shoutarou waves a hand at her, dismissing Hoshi's rambling. "Hey, I said I wasn't bothered." Because if he was, you'd know it. It is Shoutarou after all.

After a bit, Hoshi calmed herself down and took a nice, deep breath to calm herself down even further.

"All right, all right," she said, putting her hands up in a sign of defeat. "I won't get so distressed over something like that again. Anyway! Your lunch is getting cold. Want me to heat it up a bit?"

Shoutarou shook his head, digging in the bag for the contents, fishing out one of the lunches and opening it. "Thanks, but I'm good."

However, he gawks for a moment at the sheer amount of food. "...whoa, you went all-out on this!"

Hoshi's response was a warm chuckle as she clapped her hands in front of her face.

"I like to cook for people and make sure they're well fed!"

Shoutarou chuckled as well, taking a bite. "Well, if this is what having a little sister is like, I've been missing out for a long time." He's teasing, but just a little.

"What can I say? I'm pretty awesome to have around," Hoshi said, a grin on her face.

Because, really. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning, as well as other mundane tasks to take care of a place.

"Long as we're not butting heads at the time, anyway," he answered in a teasing tone.

"Well, now I might have to take offense to that for hurting my feelings," she retorted, teasing him also.

Shoutarou's only reply is an amused chuckle, then he goes about eating his lunch.

Hoshi grinned, watching Shoutarou eat what she made him. "Do you like it?"

Shou cannot verbally respond due to being caught up in eating, but he gives a hearty nod to the girl.

"Excellent!" Hoshi said, clapping her hands in front of her face. "I can definitely make this a daily thing."
