The Open D/Meeting New People

It'd been a few days since Shoutarou put up the announcement about the Agency being open for business.

Granted, 'business' was a relative term on board Stacey, and given the general peaceful nature of the ship, Shoutarou didn't expect much - which was a good thing, as he hasn't gotten much. Or, well, anything so far.

He can only patrol so much, same with sitting in on brig folks - he can't hog all the shifts to stay busy. So for now, he's kicked back at his desk, feet propped up while he sips at a bit of coffee.

Someone should poke him before he starts to monologue to himself. He'll do it!

"Looks like a cracked dome-piece, not gonna lie. No offense, dawg." He takes a look around, tapping at things with the little boxing gloves on his hand puppet. "You that kinda guy? Who rights wrongs and wipes tears?"

"Says the man with the cowl and the goggles," Shoutarou answers, a good nature to his tone, as well as a bit of ribbing.

"Myself and my partner, who isn't in at the moment, we work together to do that, yes. We protected the city we lived in back home."

"Hey, these threads is bombin'. Don't be frontin' on me," Punchy says, though he doesn't sound too offended. "That sounds pretty tight. Protected from what?"

Shoutarou gave Punch a strange look. His choice of words is rather strange to the detective, but he overlooks it, focusing on the question for now.

"Nasty organization that was selling devices to people in the city that turned them into psychotic superhumans, as well as their customers."

That gets Punchy's interest. "So did you get in the down and dirty with them, or just crack a case? You do like...intel shit or more of the up and messy?"

"Both. Did the intel bit to get info about who they were, get their patterns, find their motivation, then go and stop them personally. We let the actual cops take care of the legal part, though."

"That sounds totally boss, dawg. That what you gonna do on this ship?" Punchy is very clearly enthused and impressed, even if he's not such a fan of leaving the legal stuff to the 'po-po'.

"If needed - I'd hope that I don't need to, given the purpose of this ship." He sips at the coffee he was drinking earlier. "While I like being busy, it's better for everyone if I have nothing to do, y'know?"

"I dunno about that, dawg. If we get some small-time crazy up in this bitch, we're gonna be more prepared for the Big Leagues, you get my drift?" He extends his free hand. "I'm Punchy, by the way/"

Shoutarou blinked - then put his hand out to shake. "I'm not sure I follow - but I'm Shoutarou Hidari."

"You know, so we ain't used to just kicking back when the OG's swing on in." He shakes.

Shoutarou pulls his hand back once the shake finished. "I would say that's what the Sensoriums are for, as well as one-on-one sparring."

He pauses, then looks over at the boy. "I do understand what you're getting at - that it's more useful for preparation if it's a real situation, but..."

"Probably'd be some dope trips to relate, too, you know?" He shrugs. The Sensoriums aren't that much more impressive than the Seminary hologram rooms were back home. "Seems like we arrived after all the cool shit went down. So, uh, no mysteries so far?"

"Seems that way, but given the arrival, I'm rather thankful for that. Bit of an awkward transition for me, and I'm sure I wasn't alone." He shakes his head at the question. "Nothing yet, no, but I'm not too surprised."

"Yeah, well, waking up in a bucket of space-spunk and bein' all without your threads and kicks usually is pretty awkward." And yet Punchy wasn't all that bothered about it at the time. Probably because spaceships and snot pods are at least more interesting than his stupid hometown.
