"Alright guys, come on out!" Ash said, having transferred the Pokemon back to the Poke Balls, realizing that trying to herd them all down to their present location would've been way too much of a hassle.

Ash had dragged the team to a clearing in the city for one thing, and one thing only: To find out if their time in the pods had affected their strength and power at all. It didn't look like it, but it'd be good to at least confirm that.

Besides, it'd been ages since he'd really trained with most've 'em, and Oshawott still needed more training regardless. And it might be good for the otter to see how some longer-trained Pokemon fought.

"Pikachu. You're up. I wanna see ya hit me with an Electro Ball!"

Pikachu saluted. "Pikaa-pikaCHOW!"

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you just asked that creature to hit you with electricity..."

He'd heard the unusual noises of the Pokeballs opening and adjusted his direction accordingly, but now that he saw this odd spectacle he wondered what precisely he'd gotten himself into.

"Oh, I did. It's fine. Pikachu's shocked me so much that I kinda built up a resistance."

Which was probably impossible. Still, Ash wasn't really affected, so maybe there was some truth to it.

"That's... kind of alarming, honestly," he said, though the boy seemed so unbothered by the whole situation he had to smile just a little. "Still, asking for it seems like you're, well, asking for it. What's going on?"

"We're training." He explained. "Was tryin' to see if bein' in the pod's had messed with Pikachu's electric attacks at all."

"I'm the last person to say you should give up something that works..." Though, looking at the small creature with what was clearly enormous electrical potential, this might be one instance in which he could be persuaded to reconsider. "But is there really no less painful way?"

"It's not that painful." Ash answered and with a shrug added, "and there probably is. But I'm more of a hands-on kinda trainer."

Hmm. Morgan took a seat on a nearby pile of masonry, forearms on his knees as he leaned forward. "Naive questions, I guess, but what are you training them FOR?"

"...uh, y'know, I dunno. Usually I'd be trainin' 'em for Pokemon battles, but if everything that we've been told is true, I'm not really gonna be able to do that." He said, looking over at his Pokemon pensively.

"I guess I'm really just tryin' to keep 'em in top form for whatever gets tossed at us."

Preparedness for anything? That philosophy he could get behind! "Sounds like a plan. Need any help with it?"

What help did he have in mind? Hell, even he didn't know. But if he could, he would!
