Sound and Fury Signifying Nada [closed]
Hellboy woke up in a cell, groggy and feeling like his mouth was full of cotton. After groaning to himself, disoriented, for a minute or two, he finally regained his senses and looked around. His weapons and relics were gone. (So were the grenades).
So was Liz.
Dammit.
"Liz?"
Struggling weakly to get on his feet, he took a few shaky steps and pounded against the door with his stone fist, to no avail. Though it appeared to be made of normal metal bars, a forcefield rippled in front of it when he tried to punch it.
Double dammit.
"Liz!"
He pounded against the wall next, then another wall. Then he launched into one hell of a temper tantrum, and starting pounding against the wall just to make himself feel better. It didn't really work out that well.
In the end, the noise he was making just gave him a head ache.
Huffing out each breath raggedly, he collapsed against the wall and slid down to the floor, where he sat still.
His twins were gone, and now who the hell knew what these tentacle-controlling freaks had done to Liz. He could only hope that she was imprisoned like he was--and at the very least, he knew his lady love could take care of herself.
"Hang in there, babe."
Somehow one of them would get free and they'd figure this place out together--and beat down whoever they had to, to find out what had happened to their babies.

How's that for a response?
Then he fell back again and glowered at Dean.
no subject
God this was weird being all official, but he was taking to it.

"They're probably still in the pods, dude. Now calm the fuck down."
no subject
It wasn't not as simple as all that.
"Now she's not."
Disquieting maybe, but there was something distinctly human about the expression on that inhuman face, because that was a look of despair, and it was all mixed in with love. Love for his children had him devastated by what had happened, love for his children had him full of rage for whoever had probably killed them. The look on his face was even more disquieting to see on a demon because it was the look of a devastated parent, terrified to find out what had happened to his unborn children while at the same time, needing to know.
"They weren't far enough along. If something...took them they weren't far enough along to--they weren't--"
Don't you understand, Dean?
"I just wanna know what happened to my kids."
That was why they woke up in a full on rage. As far as they could tell, their unborn children had been carved out of their mother's belly.
no subject
"Shit, look I'm not the guy to ask about that. I just know everybody here takes birth control shots because something about being the Bleed and how screwed up time is don't work so well for pregnancy." He paced back and forth.
"Could ask Stacy. The thing is? You've been sleeping in those pods for a while. I've been awake for several months, some people here been awake for longer. Could mean Stacy somehow arranged the birth and get the kids in other pods."
no subject
"So they might be alive? Just sleeping in those pod things like we were?"
There we go. Fight's gone.
"Stacy's...the whatever it is. The head-voice, right? We ask her? That's how we find that out? How do we know she's tellin' the truth?"
no subject
"Yeah, the one calling herself mom of the ship. She's the head AI on board, and I don't know. She's been on the ball for most of it like the Ohm, the Dalgig and other things."
no subject
He thought they were in some kinda troll underground or something.
"Damn."
That was a 'damn' of surprise. Seriously, a ship?
"Like a spaceship?"
no subject
Dean then stared at him another moment.
"Shit, don't tell me in your raging you missed the whole crap about the Ohm wiping our worlds out, did you?" He'd hate having to reveal that news again.
no subject
That'd be a yes.
no subject
Dean fought the urge to headdesk.
"Yeah, you missed her memo. The Ohm? Giant fucking death machine of aliens, got the ability to tear worlds part, including their timelines. We all got grabbed by her before we were taken out with them. But whereever you and Liz are from? It's gone. Only way to get it back if maybe if we take the bastards out."
no subject
His world was gone.
His world that he'd spend over forty years protecting from things that wanted to end it and bring about a new dark age, was gone.
And something else had done it.
Of all reactions to have to that, Hellboy started to laugh, low and slightly hysterical.
"So lemme get this straight. You're telling me that me and Liz's world is gone...because it got destroyed by giant space bugs," he said in between laughs.
no subject
"You got it, Red. Can even ask for your memories back of when Stacy grabbed you if you want. I did. Wouldn't believed it even then if I haven't had to fight the sons of bitches since then."
no subject
"Space bugs."
Excuse him, giant space bugs. Probably because half the BRPD's heavy hitters had walked out and weren't there to fight them.
The funniest thing of all, though, the grand irony he was laughing at?
He didn't do it.
All that talk of his destiny and its inevitability, all that worrying over his future, all those things he hadn't wanted to confront about his nature, and in the end, he hadn't even been presented with a choice. Nothing, nada, world ended, his memory of it was even gone, and here he was on an alien spaceship.
Giant space bugs.
"That's it," Hellboy laughed. "I'm done. I'm just...done. With everything. Check, please."
no subject
"Yeah you and me both. Supposed to save the world, and this shit goes down. Listen, I gotta keep you here for the night, but if you guys are good tomorrow, you're welcome to head out. There's homes in the city if you two want a place of your own." If he's jealous that this...whatever the hell he was still had his girl, and made it work, he ain't talking.
"I'm Dean, gimme me a heads up if you need anything, but I got a project here to put together." And more prisoners to keep an eye on. He was already figuring he'd have to crash here. If he even slept which wasn't likely with everything that happened recently.
no subject
"So I just ask this Stacy, right?" he asked. "About the twins? And she can hear me?"
no subject
no subject
||Yes I am, Hellboy.||
Huh.
"What happened to the twins? To me and Liz's twins?"
||They were removed from Liz Sherman's womb and gestated up to infancy. There are very few records intact of individuals being kept in the pods, but because of the gestation period, I do have records for them. Though I could not tell you where they are, as such information has been lost, I can confirm they are asleep in the Pod Caverns. They are alive and safe.||
Hellboy bowed his head and looked relieved. He wasn't sure if he should believe this...AI, was it? Some kind of talking computer. But he wanted to. Oh, he wanted to, and so he chose to. He needed to believe it.
"Okay," he croaked out.
no subject
no subject
"Soon as Liz wakes up and finds out, you won't be seein' anymore trouble from us--unless someone else starts some."
no subject
"What?..." Then she remembered what happened. "Red?" She called, standing. "Red!" If she didn't hear him then so help her God she was gonna...
no subject
Hellboy leaned against the wall closest to the direction of her voice.
"Easy, Liz, I'm right here."
Next thing out of his mouth was what he knew she'd want to hear first.
"The twins are alive. At least that's what the ship says--and that's what we're on, some kinda sentient spaceship. This guy here says pregnancies don't do well here. So the ship she says they took 'em out and aged 'em up enough to live on their own, and put 'em away in those pod things we came out of."
He wasn't sure if they should believe her, but if there was a chance, just the slightest chance...
no subject
Alive?
"...Say that again."
no subject
no subject
"We're on a sentient spaceship who took our twins out of me and they're supposed to still be alive in those things we just came out of?" If she sounded like she didn't believe it it was only because, well... she didn't believe it.

Fuck. His. Life.
Seriously.
"HEY! Zippo girl, can you put a lid on that?!"
no subject
no subject
Dean shook his head, "Weren't you listening? Stacy's got your kids stashed safe in the pods."
no subject
Here have a glower. Do not call her 'toots.'
"Look, I get the whole shtick with prison is you're cooped up against your will, yada yada, but any chance we can forgo this whole solitary confinement thing?"
He leaned against the forcefield, and yes, that was his best pleading face on, his pride be damned.
"She needs me right now. Can't we be in the same cell?"
no subject
"Christo. Look, we've already had one sort of good demon guy, and his little problem possessed several people on ship. How do I know you're not gonna pull something worse?"
no subject
"I ain't the possessing type," Hellboy said flatly. "I'm just strong, fireproof, heal fast, and got one hell of a right hook--" He held up his stone fist. "--but other'n that, no bells and whistles, alright? You had to get me in here somehow. Tentacles, sedatives, restraints of some kind. Do whatever you have to, to get me in there with her, and I won't fight it."
no subject
no subject
It was never okay, he just pretended it was okay, but he just didn't want her to get even more upset on account of him.
"Think about it. If our positions were reversed and we were on the job, we'd just on this side of paranoid, too."
no subject
Dean studied him squarely another moment before stepping forward to open the cell, and direct him to the 'fire woman' in the other. The hunter was pretty sure the Cult didn't have her exactly in the mind when they wrote the song. Plus he never liked listening to it, too many bad memories.
no subject
"Red..."
no subject
"C'mere."
His arms wrapped around her, snuffing out the flames between them with his body, and letting the rest ripple over him.
"We'll find 'em," he said, his voice low in her ear. It was a promise.
no subject
Liz was shaking but she held onto Hellboy.
"I'm gonna kill whoever did this." She muttered and she meant every word. But she was calming down, the fire slowly dying.
no subject
They couldn't be dead. They just couldn't.
He tilted her chin up to look at him.
"Hey. How often do I lie to you?"
Other than when he says he won't take in anymore cats.
