"Listening to others, considering well what they say" (Part 3: Maingate Hotel)

The Maingate Hotel was pretty extravagant, and an entire section of it had been eked out for the crew's use during their stay. They had several suites, three communal areas, a conference room, their own kitchen with a chef on call if they required her.

They were all teleported from the main teleport pad of the hotel into the conference room, which was a large enough room to be able to hold a group their size and had plenty of chairs arranged in a circular pattern so they could mostly all face each other or whoever was in the middle of the room.

Everyone had to settle down so they were all able to talk, and the meeting itself would have to be carefully controlled so they wouldn't all talk over each other. But they were up for the task, right?

"You really think they are?"

A small pause.

"Actually, yeah. The way that guy was acting, they probably do still think that, huh."

It was funny, the way they went in expecting one thing ... and now Jr. had close to no desire of helping the side they were expected to help at all.

"Exactly. The way he seemed genuinely confused that we were resisting... ugh." She shook her head. "If this is the way government officials act, I can't imagine what the normal people think."

And honestly? Fate didn't want to.

"Mmmh, hopefully we won't have to see anything worse than that," he replied thoughtfully.

"Although, I'm sure that there are probably people helping them out and rebelling, too."

"There has to be. There's no way an entire planet can just... ignore something as horrible as this." At least, she hoped so. She refused to believe everyone on Galilee could support slavery of any kind, let alone in this twisted form.

"Yeah, but..." Jr. bit his lip, hesitating. He had already mentioned this to a couple of other people.

"You wanna help them, don't you?"

Fate nodded. "How can I not want to help them? I've seen some horrible things while on the job back home, but this is definitely the worst."

"I do, too," he replied. "But right now, we have to figure out what the hell these things," he gestured to the brand on his head. "are capable of doing. I don't wanna make things worse if they can follow us like this."
