"Listening to others, considering well what they say" (Part 3: Maingate Hotel)

The Maingate Hotel was pretty extravagant, and an entire section of it had been eked out for the crew's use during their stay. They had several suites, three communal areas, a conference room, their own kitchen with a chef on call if they required her.

They were all teleported from the main teleport pad of the hotel into the conference room, which was a large enough room to be able to hold a group their size and had plenty of chairs arranged in a circular pattern so they could mostly all face each other or whoever was in the middle of the room.

Everyone had to settle down so they were all able to talk, and the meeting itself would have to be carefully controlled so they wouldn't all talk over each other. But they were up for the task, right?

[ooc: Guardian Setup, General Mingling, Clone Checkup, Newbie Briefing, General Briefing, More Mingling, Back to the Meeting, and The Idea Guy sections are open. Zouichi nodded. "Where I come from, it's possible for people to regenerate their limbs. I've seen it happen -- a young girl with a severed leg was able to reattach and reintegrate it with the rest of her body in seconds, with no ill effects."

"And I'm sure I can't be the only one with experience with that kind of rapid regeneration ability. I'm surprised no one bothered to ask any of us whether the biotechnology we were already familiar with could be used to help the people on the ship."

He glanced back at Hana. "Rory? He's one of the nurses in Medical, right? I'd be fine with taking whatever technology we need from these people -- they've been building nice, happy lives for themselves using other people to do their dirty work."

Hana nodded back. "Yeh, I know. I mean, we grow limbs and stuff too back home. It's pretty so-so compared to the whole 'bringing back to life' thing. But they way they did it here seems pretty cool so if it helps us fight we should take it." He quickly moved over the whole resurrection thing of his world as if it were no big deal. "After we beat them, of course."

Hana then shrugged. "Maybe they thought we weren't smart enough. Or too young to tell them about that sort of stuff. I dunno, I'm still not too used to the ship yet. Maybe it only asks Doctors and older people questions like that."

Afterall, Hana himself was young and although it was obvious Zouichi was older than him he didn't think the guy was that much older.

Zouichi raised an eyebrow. "Bringing someone back to life? Sounds complicated. Do you have a lot of problems with overcrowding? ...But yes, I'd agree that it seems useful." He smiled a little, tightly. "Though I'd admit that right now, I'm a little more interested in the part where I rearrange Kanner's face."

He frowned when Hana mentioned the possibility of them being too young. "That'd be a mistake. There are younger or younger-looking people on this crew that could have a lot to say, if they bothered listening more." Then he paused.

"Depending on how you figure it, I could be older than you think. My physical body is only one year old. But I spent the equivalent of fifty years in the simulator before I woke up."

The teen shook his head. "No, it's not like that. It takes alot for both sides of the parties. We can't just bring anyone back and not alot of people can bring people back. It's just people like me. It's very selective and not used often, barely anyone knows about it. Even if they're like me." He shrugged.

"Rearrange. Cave in. However you wanna put it, it's gonna happen."

Hana blinked at him in shock, pulling a confused face before shaking it off and sighing, smiling slightly. "My Uncles over 1000 years old and looks younger than me so I'm sure I'll get used to you being an old geezer." He chuckled.

Zouichi blinked. "People like you? But if that's the case, it's probably for the best. I can't imagine what the people on my Earth would have done if they suddenly got the ability to bring people back to life."

"Thanks. I'll try not to creak in your general direction. Maybe one day I'll make it to be as old as your uncle." He paused. "You're not secretly in your twenties, are you? That happened to me today once already."

"It's complicated. Don't worry about it."

Hana grinned. "No, just thirteen." Which was actually younger than he looked as Hana could easily pass for a 15 or possibly 16 year old.

Zouichi shrugged; if Hana didn't want to get into details, it was fine with him.

"Huh. You're kind of big for a thirteen-year-old. What are they feeding you, human growth hormone?"

For whatever reason, it was unusually easy to take his mind off the problems at hand while talking to Hana.

"No way, man." Hana flexed in a cartoonish fashion, pulling a playfully smug face. "Lotsa of training and big meals, that's all it takes."

He gave a chuckle before letting his hands drop to his side. "Besides, my dad's family is pretty tall. Unless you count my great grandad... I think he shrunk." Hana pulled a look of horror. "I hope I don't end up like him. But grandma never did so I think I'll be okay."

"Ah." He wrinkled his nose a little. "And I'm sure there's plenty of meals available on the ship. Someone had me taste the slop once; I can only imagine it was what wet cat food would taste like. I think I'll just continue to refrain from eating anything, if it's all the same to everyone else."

"How tall is your dad?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] moms-temperment.livejournal.com 2011-06-26 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"You don't have to eat?" Hana thought about this. "Man, even if I didn't have to eat I still think I'd die if I didn't." Hana really liked his food.

"Pretty tall actually. He doesn't always look it coz of the way he dresses and his hair's kinda stupid and he slouches a bit when mom's not looking but he is tall. Everyone thinks Ren-sama is taller because he dresses smart in suits and stands up straight and his hair sticks up but I actually think dad is taller. Ren-sama is way cooler looking though." It felt nice, telling Zouichi the snippets of his life.

"Well, not very often, anyway. People keep trying to get me to, though, so I think I'm set for the next hundred years or so. Anyway, that's good, right? If I ever win a ticket to an alien buffet, I'll just give it to you."

"Ren-sama... that's your dad's friend?" Zouichi thought this over for a minute. "I had a mother, sort of. But we weren't technically related or anything. She just took us in."

"Sounds awesome to me!"

"Oh, yeh, they've know each other since dad was my age. His kid's living with us right now, he's a bit of a pain." Hana nodded as he listened to Zouichi. "I get it. I have one of them too. 'Surrogate mom' is the word, right? I have dad, mom and Tamao, who's my surrogate mom coz she looked after me while mom was helping dad abroad all those years."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-06-26 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
He smiled, though the expression looked a little sad, somehow. Distant. "Maybe 'surrogate mother' would be the right term... but I think all of us considered her our real mother."

Then Zouichi glanced back at Hana. "Sounds like your family has a lot of friends. So, who do you take after? Your mom or your dad?"

[identity profile] moms-temperment.livejournal.com 2011-06-26 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"My mom!" Hana immediately said, proudly and a little too loud but obviously Hana didn't care.

"I mean, I look like 'em both but I look like her a whole lot more than I look like dad. I've got her hair and eyes, that kinda stuff." He ran his hand through his wildfire blonde mane.

"Plus, everyone says I act alot more like her too. Ryu even says you can tell I'm her son just by the way I kick." This was an odd comment to say the least, but it seemed to make Hana happy.

It seemed like most males (especially teens even if they try to hide it), he was a mothers boy at heart. Hana didn't seem too bothered about hiding it though.

Hahaha XD

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-06-26 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Zouichi's smile this time looked significantly more convincing. "She sounds like a great person." He didn't think to hard about the comment about kicking; maybe she was some kind of... uh...

"So what does she do? Teach martial arts?"

[identity profile] moms-temperment.livejournal.com 2011-06-26 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Hana looked confused for a moment before shaking his head. "No. I mean, she trains me and dad but that's like, laps and pushups and stuff."

"What I mean is, my mom's alot stronger than she looks. She's kinda thin and petite but she can totally put a guy down with just a blow. Her slaps are the scariest." Hana suddenly looked a little fearful himself, hand idly moving up to touch his cheek in some kind of learned response.

"It's taken dad hours to get up from one of her left handed slaps before... And she's taught Tamao mom how to do it..." Obviously, when Hana misbehaved, it was never his father who dished out the punishment.

He shook himself from his stupor and smiled. "So people say I get my powerful blows from her. I put the same amount of force behind my kicks as she does her slaps."

[identity profile] zouichi.livejournal.com 2011-06-26 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Er, well. If I ever meet her, I'll try to avoid doing anything she disapproves of." Zouichi has superstrength, but even he doesn't mess with people with Mom Powers -- just ask Eva.

"If your kicks really are that strong, do you want to try sparring sometime? ...the last time I tried, it got a little out of hand, but I'll try not to let that happen again."

[identity profile] moms-temperment.livejournal.com 2011-06-26 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hana practically beamed up at the older boy, nodding vigorously. "That sounds awesome! I can't wait!"
