Blast from the Past! [open]
There was nothing like good old walking to clear one's head and that was what Hoshi was doing. Her hands were stuffed in her vest's pockets, her head cast down. She wasn't sad -- far from it, actually! She just had a lot of thoughts racing through her head, a smile on her face. Right! Gotta keep on thinking on the positives!
She didn't feel as tired as she did! That was a plus!
... Oh, this was useless! No matter what she did, her mind was just too jumbled up by everything. This behavior definitely caught Seraphiel's eye and he nipped on her finger. It wasn't hard enough to break the skin, though; just enough to get her attention, that was all.
"Ow! Seraphiel, did you really have to do that?" she asked, frowning at her holy beast. The only response she was given was a deadpan glance and the beyblader sighed. "Okay, okay. Fine, I'll stop moping. Does that work for you?"
Satisfied, Seraphiel nodded his head and went to rest on her shoulder. This earned him a bit of a grovel before it stopped. Wait, what was that--? Hoshi took off running, Seraphiel following right behind her. It couldn't be...
She stopped, panting a little to catch her breath. It was an arena, and not just any old arena! It was one from home! It seemed different going to it now, though. There weren't any teams here, no fans, no little kids who were wide-eyed with hope of seeing their favorite beyblader come out strong and out on the top, none of that. Although, she could hear the distant cheers and shouts from the fans that were waiting for the match to begin, which comforted her some.
The beyblader walked inside and went to the locker rooms first, seeing the tables, chairs, couches, as well as televisions that the other teams could comfortably watch the match unfold in the rooms themselves. Then, she went to Holy Enoch's locker room just to check it out. Her plans for her team were still written on the white board with diagrams to follow, It felt so weird to be in here without Sei, Skye, Ami, and Petra, though. Sighing once more, she went to go check on the dish itself.
When she arrived, she noticed it was dark and she assumed it could have possibly been due to the electricity being down in this part of the building. She decided to take the photograph out of her teammates and sit down on the floor, gazing up at the ceiling itself to remember all the matches and experiences she shared with her team. It was like they really were here with her...
( OOC: Okay, so! There's various rooms in the arena itself. There's the locker rooms where there might be beyblade parts or other items scattered about, then there's the main area where the different platforms would be used for the matches [where Hoshi is in right now], then a "VIP Box" like area where Volkov would be standing to observe the matches for his own discretion, and lavatories, stuff like that.
If one of the engineering people would like to, there should be a database with information on every single beyblader, their holy beasts, as well as a randomizer that would pick out teams to compete against one another. The electricity in a few parts of the arena is either fried or working sporadically, as well. In other areas, it should be working!
Main Area/Stadium, hallway with a lavatory, television screen announcing which teams are up (currently turned off), the entrance, another hallway. Just ignore emo!Takao and entrance where the teams would come in.

Devices: +2 to win over any Son of Ether
This part of the city was unfamiliar, however, and the sight of a rather large arena-type building piqued his curiosity. He was impressed because it really was in excellent repair--it was almost a shame to consider cannibalizing its electronics for parts.
But that was precisely what was on his mind, until he thought he made out someone down on the arena floor.
He hurried on down, peering through his goggles before he slid them up on his head.
"Are you all right, miss?" Because it was kind of strange to be hanging out in an empty and darkened arena. He hadn't caught sight of Seraphiel, yet.
no subject
"Yeah, I am! I'm just walking down memory lane," she said, slipping the photo back into her wallet and pocketing her wallet again. Seraphiel had swooped down from the stands to rest on her shoulder once more.
"Sorry for worrying you, mister."
no subject
Stephen's eyebrows rose over his goggles as the eagle joined its master. He certainly hadn't seen anything like that, recently.
"Interesting companion. I'm Stephen Valkonan, but I prefer Stephen to mister, if you're going to call me something. And you are?"
He offered a hand and smiled.
no subject
"His name is Seraphiel and he's my friend, as well as my companion," she admitted. "And, all right! Stephen it is. My name is Hikari Hoshi, last name, first."
She took his hand and gave him a friendly shake, a bright grin on her face.
no subject
"Lit up, hm? Should I assume safely that there's a problem with that, which was why you were sitting down here in the dark to begin with?" He slid the goggles back down over his eyes, expression intent.
"There's probably something to be done about that," Stephen admitted. "Then again, it probably will take tools that I don't have on me."
no subject
"Yeah. I've checked a few places around here already and the electricity is down in here and in a few of the locker rooms around here. I'd imagine what helps the dishes come up is also busted," she pointed out, noticing him sliding his goggles back on.
"You mean you'd help fix it up? Oh, thank you! That would mean a lot to me, Stephen!" she said, bowing in respect.
no subject
"I'm from the States. Pittsburgh, to be precise." Stroking the stubble on his chin, he turned a full circle in place, looking thoughtful.
"It probably won't be done in one go, and I have some other projects I'm working on, but I'm pretty sure I can fix this. I'll have to fabricate some parts, maybe, and bring my welding equipment down here.."
Stephen pulled out his omnicomm and started jotting down notes. "And I'm certain you'd like to be involved as well, so I'll take that into mind as well. Am I correct in that assumption?"
He couldn't hide his grin.
no subject
"The States! Well, I've been there before on my own world. My team and I went to New York to begin the Beyblade World Tournament," she announced, her grin not falling any time yet.
"Oh, of course! I know that Rome wasn't built in a day, but it really does mean a lot to me that you'd help me get this place in proper working order."
At his question, she nodded, and if it was possible, her grin got even bigger. "You bet I would be!"
no subject
"So do you know what this place is used for? It looks like a sporting event arena, sort of. Not that I've ever been too big on sports," Stephen admitted.
no subject
"It's used for beyblade matches in between teams. The stands are so that the fans can view their favorite teams competing against one another. The area in the middle is where both teams would compete to come out on top! And, it's okay. I know enough about beyblading to help you out, so it's like a trade off," Hoshi explained.
no subject
He listened quietly to her explanation. "A trade-off. Sounds good. But I could swear beyblading sounds familiar for some reason." A shake of his head, and he continued. "It's not coming forward, though."
no subject
Then, she stopped and thought about what he had said. She didn't recall a Stephen Valkonan on any team that she remembered, be it regional or international... So, then perhaps he was a fan? Ooh, if that was the case, then which team? The BBA, Neoborg, Bai Hu Zu, PPB, Team Euro, F-Sangre, Holy Enoch, or hopefully not BEGA or Barthez Battalion... Oh, the possibilities were endless!
"Are you a fan or something? If so, which team was, or is, your favorite?"
no subject
"I don't know?" he said, shrugging. "I don't remember that much about it, I'm afraid. Just the term is familiar. Either way, I'm pretty sure that it'll be a fair trade if I'm teaching you about electrical junctions and amperes and volts and so on, and you're teaching me about beyblading."
Stephen couldn't repress a chuckle at that.
no subject
"It's all right," she said next, still keeping her grin up. "All right, that works for me! I'd love to teach you about beyblading with a proper area now." Because, really, the floors on Stacy didn't provide the ultimate spins one needed to go hard and fast when it came to beyblading.
She did make a note to herself to make a list of just who she was going to teach how to beyblade, however. It had to be a good size now, didn't it?
no subject
Stephen wasn't going to elucidate.
"The lights here should all still work, it's just the current running to them is throwing a fault somewhere, looks like. I might have to do some work tracking through the electrical systems to see--and I wonder if this place still has a fusebox?" He caught himself before he could go on a longer spiel, looking embarrassed.
"Sorry, I do that sometimes."
no subject
Hoshi watched him work, trying her best to keep up with what he was saying and showing that she was listening with a nod here and there. "I think that the fusebox would be down in the basement, since I assume that's where the dishes would be kept so that they'd be ready for when a match went underway," she answered the best she could, not really knowing too much about the construction of the stadium other than what one could take from a first glance.
"Oh, no, don't be sorry! I like it, actually."
no subject
"You're probably right about the fusebox; they're a little behind the times for me. Still, we probably ought to go trying to find it. Do you mean like satellite dishes, or something else?" he asked.
no subject
The 'behind the times' comment had her take a bit of a pause, but she quickly shook her head. "Not exactly. It's like how plays have sets already designed for a show, only in my case, the dishes are pretty much a bigger form of a diorama one would build."
no subject
"I probably would have to check with Dr. Sera, I think it was, in regards to teaching a class. I know he has in the past, but I also know he's busy." Stephen mused about that out loud for a few moments, then shrugged.
"I could always ask him, it probably wouldn't hurt."
no subject
"That makes sense. Either way, I'm excited no matter what."
Then, a thought occurred to her. He was right about the satellite dishes. How else did they broadcast the matches for the world to see what was going on during the tournament?
"Oh, and you're right about the satellite dishes. It somehow slipped my mind, but how else were those in charge of the tournament going to broadcast what was going on without satellite dishes and the like?" Then again, she didn't know broadcasting equipment that well.
no subject
He chuckled. "It's kind of nice to see some enthusiasm. There are times where there's a distinct lack of it, around this place."
He paused again, eyebrows going up and mouth opening, before he shut it and chuckled. "Well, it was only speculation. I could probably fix a satellite link if I had to, but knowing much about it? Not really. I probably could find out, but right off the cuff?" Stephen shook his head.
no subject
Then, she returned his chuckle with a warm one of her own. "It's just a thought, but that's understandable. That's something that can come down the road of fixing this place up, if it's needed, anyway."
no subject
He shrugged, then.
"Depends. I don't know if anyone else would be out to do anything with this place--and I admit that I was only coming here to see if I could gut it. I'd just stake a claim to it, so people with my original thought will leave it alone, you know?"
no subject
Well, cannibalizing the place didn't sound too good to her due to how it was like having something from home right on Stacy and it still held in a lot of memories for her.
"I can ask and see if there's enough interest to help in fixing this place up." Idly, the same thought crossed her mind about the Sonozaki mansion. Maybe if it was fixed up, it might help Phillip in some way...
no subject
He gave a weak chuckle at that, then quirked a brow again.
"What are you thinking of? Besides people to help you clean up here? I know that look," he said.
Stephen had probably had that idea stricken look himself, often enough.
