"Why did I come in here?"

There were very few things Sasami regretted. One of those things? Walking into the art hall. She'd never thought it was needed to come visit here, but, after the whole thing with the Tapestry, curiosity came and bit her hard. The Tapestry wanted to show her things of the future. She'd just wanted to see things of the past. Out of curiosity, she looked at the first statue before her and gasped at what was being shown.

Herself at 3 years old, on a small platform, dead (at least in her mind). Over her was the form of Tsunami, ready to assimilate with her and revive her.

She stepped back, reeling in fear. Why did it show her that?! Of all the things she could have seen, it was that.

"Please, change it! I don't want to see this anymore!" Sasami pleaded, but it seemed like it was stuck at the moment.

Sasami's body trembled as Hikari held her close.

"Hikari-chan, that's... I..." Sasami stammered. "That's me... I'm..."

Hikari blinked, looking down at Sasami and trying to pull her even closer to her. Not that she actually could do that, but it was the thought that counted. "What do you mean?"

"The statue's of me, Hikari-chan!" Sasami finally blurted out. "I'm... I'm not the real Sasami!"

Hikari blinked, looking over at Sasami and frowning. "What... what do you mean?"

"The real Sasami died 700 years ago, Hikari, I'm... I'm just a creation..."

Hikari frowned, hugging Sasami tighter. "So? You're still you, right?"

"...h-huh?"

Excuse Sasami's confusion, Hikari. She's so used to hiding this little fact from everyone that she isn't used to someone that isn't her family not really minding.

Hikari smiled, looking down at the other girl. "I don't really get exactly what you're saying, but well, you're the only Sasami that I or well anyone on the ship actually know. And well, if that statue is right, then all the memories you have are yours, not anyone elses."

"I... ah..."

Hearing this has... well... really kind overwhelmed Sasami. Never once had it occurred to her that maybe, just maybe, this sort of thing was actually alright.

"...I never... thought of it like that..."

Hikari smiled again, still hugging Sasami. "It's alright Sasami-chan. I guess it's an odd situation to have to worry about, isn't it?"

Sasami nodded, starting to calm down and relax, but still holding on to Hikari. Maybe there was a reason that she never bothered to ask her to join the rest of her surrogate family.

"It is... I tried not to think of it, but... well..."

Hikari nodded, still hugging Sasami. "Come on, let's get out of here and go someplace else, okay?"

"Okay..." she uttered. Reluctantly, she started to pull away from Hikari so they could leave.

"So, where else do you want to go Sasami-chan?" Hikari asked, still smiling over at the girl as she pulled away. Finding out where Sasami wanted to go was probably going to be the best thing to figure out right now.
