Lightning cracked as Negi absorbed the magic that he was holding in his hand, and with a brief inhalation, he grinned as his frame was completely reinforced by two Thousand Thunderbolts. "Looks good. I think I'm back to full strength now."

"Hey Aniki, I just got a question for ya," said Chamo sitting off to the side with Barry the Platypus. "Why is it pink?"

Negi flushed hotly. "It's not pink! It's lightish red!"

"Cute design, kid!" a voice called out. From behind Negi was Sonic, arms crossed over his chest as he watched. "Didn't think people could pull off such a trick!"

"Hey!" exclaimed Negi, waving at Sonic as the lightning died down, his long sweep of pink hair flowing into a more natural state. "Yeah, I've been holding back this spell for a while, and I wanted to figure out if I was back to full strength."

"Full strength, huh? You always turn pink like that?" Sonic said, grinning. To be fair, he'd seen it with Knuckles and his Super and Hyper forms, so seeing Negi pink wasn't a surprise.

"Ffff it's lightish red!" exclaimed Negi, flailing a little. But there was really no mistaking that he was completely pink and purple from head to toe.

"You really have to get a better line, Aniki," grinned Chamo.

Sonic laughed at Negi's flailing. Good to see someone could react like that on this ship without causing an explosion!

"Aw, I'm messing with ya...!" he said, reaching over to ruffle the kid's hair.

Negi got his hair ruffled as he sighed just a little. "Well at least it's not so bad... I mean there could be other colors..."

"Like... gold, perhaps?" Sonic said, pulling out one of the Chaos Emeralds and tossing it up and down. "I hear that's a pretty common color!"

Negi laughed at that as he pulled a lock of hair over his shoulder to look at it. "I dunno how I'd look in gold..."

He thought for a moment, eyeing Sonic for a moment. "Say... I know you're fast... how fast are you in that gold you're talking about?"

"Is that a challenge?" Sonic said, hearing that. "What, you think you can beat me in speed?"

"I was always wondering just how fast I am. Matching up against a fast moving person would be interesting at least." said Negi with a grin. "If I can keep pace with you for say, ten minutes, you want to go get something to eat afterwards in the sensoriums?"

"Deal!" Sonic said, nodding. "Though, seeing as you're going all out, it wouldn't do me any good not to do the same!" A brief moment as six other Chaos Emeralds appeared, surrounded Sonic before disappearing as he took up his Super Sonic form.

"Where to where?" he said, grinning.

"Anywhere in the city, with the sensoriums as the last stop," said Negi, his frame bursting into electricity. "Chamo-kun go wait for us there with Barry."

"Gotcha," replied Chamo. "C'mon Platypus."

Negi grinned at Sonic. "Ready to do this?"

"Ready when you are!" Sonic said, taking off into the air. "C'mon, catch me if you can!"

With that, Sonic rushed off, a golden streak in the air.

Negi quickly followed, hot on his heels and gaining speed. A crackling pink trail of energy followed him as he took off flying after Sonic.

Sonic looked back, watching Negi flying behind him. He lets Negi catch up to him before rocketing ahead, challenging him to keep up.

Negi grinned at that, putting on a burst of speed. He was doing a pretty decent job keeping pace, but Sonic wasn't the fastest thing alive for nothing. Still, he managed to rocket up next to him, grinning widely, leaving a wave of pink electricity.

"Not bad, kid! You still got a long way to go, though!" Sonic shouted, leading Negi around the abandoned Jurai Royal Palace, rounding the massive tree and using it as a slingshot to head in the other direction.

Crackling snaps of electricity rebounded off the tree as Negi rebounded around it, leaving blasts of power as Negi kept up amidst the speed that Sonic produced. "I'll do my best to keep up then!" laughed Negi, pouring on the speed.

Admittedly, it was nice to cut loose just for once and seeing as he wasn't in anything fierce, he had plenty of time and power to keep this up.

His flight pattern took him over Religion Row and further down, towards areas that they hadn't seen yet.

Negi made certain not to rebound off buildings in his fast pace after him, and he pushed himself further and faster than before. Buildings blurred past him and he was grinning widely along the crackling pink path he left.

"Don't push yourself too hard, kid!" Sonic called out, weaving past the buildings with that same difficulty. "You burn yourself out too fast!"

With that, he shot upwards, towards the ceiling of the City.

"Got it!" replied Negi, shooting up after him and summoning his staff in order to get up further, accelerating as he went along.

Sonic looked back, noticing him using his staff to help keep up. No biggie on his end, he told him not to push it, so every bit helps.

Curving as he reached the top, he shot out in the other direction, heading for the tubes that would lead to the Sensoriums.

Changing direction, Negi shot off after him. It was a good endurance test and he zoomed towards the tubes, following close behind.

"Oh, man, this is gonna be close!" Sonic uttered as he got close to the tubes. They certainly weren't going to be like the ones within the Metropolis Zone or even the Death Egg. He forced himself to slow down before hitting the tubes, thankfully not damaging them as he did.

Negi knew that too, and he adjusted his motions so that he wouldn't hit, slowing just enough to match Sonic's slowdown as well. "Whoa, brakes!" he laughed.

Shooting up the tubes, Sonic reached the level with the Sensoriums and took off, having to get a good push of the ground before flying. With the smaller hallways in the way, he'd have to start circling around, trying not to hit anyone in the way.

Following after him, he shot off after Sonic, crackling into lightning and streaming down the hallway, winding around people in the way. They would probably feel a little buzz and ringing in their ears.

"Final stretch! How about that last little bit of speed?" Sonic called out. Since they were getting close, it wouldn't hurt to pour on a bit more speed, speeding quickly to the Sensoriums.

"Sounds great!" exclaimed Negi, and he shot off, zooming faster along the hallway to match Sonic neck and neck.
