Video Games (Open)

It had been one of those little things Reimi was never really good at, but she had settled into a routine since she had gone to the Media Library so long ago. Having booted up a cute looking JRPG or something close to it, she listened to the opening theme as she began to play, selecting her character.

Right now, playing away, she is almost oblivious to anyone coming up to visit with her.

Wow, that looked significantly more polished than the strategy game Alex had set him up with once upon a time. Zouichi glanced at Reimi, then took a seat in a chair near her, watching her play.

"What is the purpose of this game?" he asked after a moment. "If you don't mind me asking."

Sasami was just finding all sorts of people today, wasn't she? She spotted Reimi in the Media Library just playing away. She couldn't help but smile at her surrogate sister just having fun. Something she should be doing...

With Reimi distracted, Sasami snuck behind her, a mischievous grin on her face. While she COULD have just utterly surprised her, instead, she reached over to take the ribbon from Reimi's hair.

"Looks like you get to solve dungeons and gather loot while progressing in a storyline," replied Reimi, turning to smile at Zouichi. "How've you been?"

Fwip! So distracted with her game, Reimi's hair tie came loose and her hair tumbled from its ponytail. "H-hey what the...?"

Hitting pause, she looked up at her little sister and laughed lightly. "You got me."

Sasami laughed as Reimi caught her. "Sorry, I couldn't help it!" she said, moving to hug her. "I'll put it back, if you want me to..."

It was there she noticed what she was playing. "What's this...?"

Zouichi blinked. "Well, when you say it like that, it doesn't sound quite as fascinating."

"Not bad. I was shot recently, but that seems to have all blown over by now. And I moved into the City. How have you been, Miss Saionji?"

"Heh, sorry I'm not the best person to describe an action RPG I guess," replied Reimi. "There's a lot of fun playing a game like this though."

She blinked at the last bit. "Well I'm glad you moved into the city but you got shot? When?"

"This? Random video game I got in the archives," replied Reimi as she grinned, hugging Sasami. "Seems like it's focused around a fun concept of dungeon diving as well as finding and meeting new people and having adventures."

She presented her long length of hair. "If you don't mind Sasami you can put my ribbon back in."

A very confused six year old stood behind her, looking at the opening theme, her mouth slightly opened.

"IS THAT A PRINNY?!"

"Oh, wow..." Sasami said, listening to what she described. "Though... sounds like what we're doing, huh?"

With a nod, she moved to fix back Reimi's ponytail. Part of her, though, wanted to be careful - she just might get pranked, too...!

"Hmm? A prinny?" Did she refer to the penguin thing? "I... guess so?"

"Yeah it really does," giggled Reimi. "But most games like to do a similar format at least."

She wasn't too worried that Sasami was going to prank her. She would get back later.

He smiled. "Don't worry about it. I've only played one or two video games anyway, so it's not like I'd know the difference. Do you come here to play often, or is this a more recent development?"

Zouichi... actually didn't seem very concerned about the whole bullet wound thing. "It was during that mission with the Oryans; I was part of the rescue team. It was sort of a break in the routine -- I haven't been shot for quite a while now. I was beginning to think I was home free."

"I see...!" Sasami said. It took her awhile to sort through her memories, but she remembered the other her preferring fighting games over this sort of thing. Despite that, she wouldn't mind trying it out.

Tying the ribbon up, she gave it a good pull to make sure it was on tight before her hands pulled away and moved to hug Reimi from behind. "Can I watch you?"

"But why is it in a video game," she protested, getting closer to the screen at a distance most mothers would have told her to back up before she lost her vision. "Prinnies are not supposed to be in video games!" So went the logic of Lash.

"They belong in Netherworlds and Cele--whatever those others are called!"

"Sure!" exclaimed Reimi, letting Sasami hug her as she giggled. "We can play it together, and you can make fun of me when I do something wrong. Deal?"

"Hmm... well there's other worlds out there right? Maybe this prinny was so famous, it got into a video game! And we're playing the story of how famous he is?" inquired Reimi, giggling at Lash.

"Aww, I can't do that...!" Sasami said. "...unless you do the same to me! It's only fair!"

She smiled as she added, "Don't worry, I won't get upset."

Reimi grinned, patting her little sister on the head before nodding. "Deal then."

She hit pause and started playing again through the beginning.

With a nod, Sasami moved to join her older sister, taking up a controller as Reimi restarted.

Leaning back a little, the tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpa2vGt9AgI&feature=related) began. "Good thing we can play this co-op," remarked Reimi. "Most games before my time were single player in this kind of environment."

"It's more recent," replied Reimi. "I wanted something less strenuous than playing the library's copy of the Eternal Sphere game."

She nodded at that with a sigh. "You shouldn't count missions on times being shot y'know..."

"I'm still not used to the graphics!" Sasami admitted. Ah, 1992. Back when the most impressive graphics out there was Mario and Sonic in 16-bit.

"That's soooo weird!" the wunderkind said, sitting down on the floor, still watching the screen. "Zetta told me most of them are the souls of murderers and sinners." He had also talked about video games, but Lash barely remembered that part. Pause. "I made a gun to shoot them out once. It was cool."

It took quite some time, and numerous washroom and food breaks but the pair had finally gotten through the bulk of the game, having saved and synthed and made so much stuff. "Finally!" cheered Reimi, stretching out as she yawned. "Been the entire day!"
