Deadlines [Open---see note]
Miraculously, happily, Billy had finally set foot on Transmigration Nine once more. It wasn't the cleanest or happiest of reunions on-board the ship, but what mattered most to him was that he had survived. His task now was to return to the routine as much as possible and assist with the Melting Clock situation.
Unaware of how much the situation had deteriorated during his capture, he first set out for sanctuary from the wider world. Home, the house of the Sun and Moon twins, where he could retreat to safety and recover before returning to work. Ronnae would be there, wouldn't she? Some of the lingering guilt and pain would heal after speaking with her, right?
He'd make a beeline for the bathroom, of course. There was no doubt in his mind that the clothes he'd worn on the mission would have to be burned, and there was something he was required to apply to his back to aid the healing there. After that, his odor would be safe enough to expose the rest of the crew to.
---
By the time he 'recovered' and returned to work in the Engineering department, Billy was in a notably sour mood. His best friends and his girlfriend, he'd been informed and seen, were children. Children who didn't have much longer to live if a solution couldn't be found quickly.
His priorities were simple: the Clock and any work that had been left behind. With the Engineering team noticeably smaller than it had been before, and several members of it having taken an involuntary leave of absence at the same time he did, there was undoubtedly much to catch up on.
The race against the clock continued. Billy took his seat at his desk, ready to plow through paperwork and status updates more quickly than ever before.
((ooc: This takes place between the Oryan and Time Dragon missions. It's split into two sections so I don't spam the comm even more than I already have---the subthread at his home is open to people who would reasonably be there, like Ronnae, Nokosi, and maybe Kaya. The section in Engineering is open for anyone who wants to catch up with him//update on the situation//beg him for treats and toys. A separate post for Romeo and Juliet will go up tomorrow or Tuesday.))

Power demonstrations were against the code of conduct somehow, weren't they? Billy shook his head. "I'm not as strong as the Hulk, and it takes extra effort to smash walls. It largely works to make me a faster and more efficient fighter. I just don't think I'm allowed to use it to show off."

Billy had to think about this some more. It was...an interesting prospect, and he wasn't sure he should, but having someone so eagerly admire him was different. It was so different from the older Marco, in fact, that he wondered if this could be used as leverage later.
"It's all seen more easily that way. I can let you come with me into the cockpit, maybe show you how a battle works."
It wouldn't take too long, he thought. Famous last thoughts.

"Come on, let's go!" he said, grabbing one of Billy's hands and moving to try and drag him over to the door. Marco, it seemed, was interested in going right now.
1/2
Before he knew it, they were there. A quick thought changed the neutral grey Sensorium into the desert landscape Billy was so accustomed to fighting in.
"Don't worry, none of the monsters here are going to come near you. I've programmed them to not be able to see you."
With that thought in mind, Billy called forth his opponent: a rather tall octopus-like being. For some reason or another, it had human legs, as if the whole costume was operated by a humanoid in a suit. That couldn't be true, though, right?
"Looks like you need a leg up and out of here," Billy quipped terribly, rolling forward to deliver a few demonstration attacks. He leapt into the air, landing a hit or two before the powerful legs tangled him up. Then began the struggling.
This, he couldn't do alone. It was morphin' time.
With some effort, Billy seized the buckle on his wrist and thrust it forward. "Triceratops!"
As if they'd been burned, the octopus legs retreated from Billy's body. To be more precise, what was probably Billy's body. He'd disappeared in a flash of white light.
2/2
Billy flicked his gloved wrist, calling his favored weapon into existence. His Power Lance shone in the desert light as he brandished it, but not for long---as it was about to tangle with the slime of octopus legs. Not particularly pleasant.
He used his knot-tying skills to duck and weave, snagging legs and twisting them wherever he could. There were still struggles, but Billy was noticeably faster and stronger in this form. Attacks that had held him before were now broken easily, and his jumps caught more airtime than before.
Just as he was about to skewer the octopus, though, the usual turn for the worse struck---the growth magic. Billy was thrown back into the dirt, tumbling to a spot beside Marco as the creature grew fifty feet tall.
"This always happens."
Re: 2/2
Marco didn't seem at all bothered by the monsters, either - the sensoriums was obviously just like a really cool video game, so as far as he was concerned, the monsters couldn't hurt him.
Instead, he settled for cheering as Billy defeated the monster. "That's so cool!" he said as Billy tumbled near Marco. "Is that like your superhero suit? Are you going to defeat him with like, a mega kick or something?"

"Try this on for size. Triceratops Unicorn Thunderzord Power!"
Yes, that was honestly his call to arms. Possibly even more embarrassing than the story about the invisibility device, but he hoped the power of the named Thunderzord would offset that. Within seconds, the ground started to rumble, indicating the fast approach of the large blue mecha.
"This might feel a little strange," Billy advised Marco quietly, seconds before they both rocketed into the air. They were pulled by the force, suspended in the air just long enough to land on the back of the unicorn's neck. After that, it was just a quick ducking through the open door to the cockpit, now featuring two seats.
"Thunderzord battle mode initiated. We're going to fight." With that, he hit the accelerator, horn out as the vehicle charged forward. They weren't in range of the tentacles' attacks, fortunately, but they were quite a sight from the window.

Once inside the Thunderzord, Marco just grinned, looking around wildly, as if he was trying to take everything in. He also seemed more interested in trying to stand as close as possible to the window so he could see as much of the action as possible, as opposed to actually sitting down in the chair.

"Marco, you'll really be safer if you sit," Billy called, hurriedly punching in the code for a visor wiping. Even so, the octopus was fast approaching for an attack. How could he force it back---oh! The lasers Lash installed. His attacks wouldn't be the most accurate, but it would have to do.
As he pushed the button, firing a number of bright white lasers at their opponent, the ink finally started to clear. Unfortunately, the octopus managed to get an attack in before it recoiled in pain. The resulting tentacle slam rocked the Zord, leaving Billy checking Marco and the power supply.
"Come on! We're going to switch tactics."
no subject
"You have lasers?" Marco said, his eyes widening. "That's so cool!"

Once they were weighed down, there was a final laser blast to do. His copilot could handle that. "Push the big red button in front of you, Marco. We're finishing him off."
no subject
And if there was one thing Marco loved to do, it was press buttons. He didn't need to be told told - he smashed his hand down on the button, looking quickly out the window again to see what would happen.
no subject
"And that's that. It's a good thing we're done, because that last blast took most of the power for a while." He offered a high-five before they were to head out. Did kids still do that?
no subject
And he was going to regret that so much when he was older.
"Your robot is like, totally awesome, Billy!" he enthused. "How'd you get it? Did you build it? Can you make another one?"
no subject
"It was a gift from my old mentor. I've studied exactly how it works and done extensive repairs and modifications, but I don't know if I could build one. The energy core it requires is massive."
It'd be wonderful if he could. Dangerous, too, if Marco got ahold of it. "So that's how it works. Is your curiosity satisfied?"
no subject
To Billy's question, Marco just shrugged. "I guess?"
no subject
"That's really all I do. So...you have to get back to your place, right?"

It wouldn't hurt Billy to keep him entertained a little while longer. "How about a different one? There are others that can fly."
Maybe that would be a little more appealing. Marco could fly the afternoon away.

And Billy stepped back, allowing Marco to enjoy himself for the rest of the afternoon. This was the best thing for a kid ever--if Billy had been allowed a simulation like this at six years old? He'd figure it out, play with it, and never want to leave unless he could build it in the real world.
It was worth it to give a happy childhood moment.
