In Which Teen Zetta Cruises For Chicks [Open. I am sorry.]

Sunglasses on.

Engine roaring.

Music blaring.

Accelerator depressed, gears engaged, and he was off.

The 2023 Ferrari Infinity streaked like a bullet through the City, down corridors, across the obs deck, anywhere it could reach, a black blur to those with slow vision, accented by a red streak where the flames of the Overlord's hair trailed far behind the convertible in wind-tossed delight. A smug grin on his face, left elbow propped firmly on the door, the Overlord did what any teen demon -- or, demon de-aged to about 1700 or so -- would do.

He was cruising for chicks.

Ladies, look out; Teen Zetta is looking for you.

"Hey, I haven't got much going on... whenever's convenient."

Never underestimate the Overlord's ability to stonewall, procrastinate, and be stubborn!

"Then we can go now!" Kaya insisted. "If you want, we can hop over to the Outsiders HQ and get some snacks too."

And the Overlord by now should realize that Kaya is the queen of nagging, like her teacher before her.

Zetta downshifted, half-spun the car around a turn, then put it on course for the hotel with a grin. "Sounds like a plan to me!"

"Cool," Kaya said, and gave him a smile. She was actually pretty excited: the last movies he saw had made its mark, so she hoped the next one would be pretty decent too. She ran to the lobby, getting some of the snacks, and ran back.

At least the Overlord had stopped taking abut sex.

Well, he's easily distractable. Some things NEVER change no matter what age the Overlord is!

He gunned the engine a couple of times as she ran back out, still grinning.

Kaya threw the foodstuffs in the backseat and got back in. By now, she was actually relaxed, and willing to be in the car again with no questions asked.

"Ok, let's go!" She said cheerfully.

Easy enough to handle the Overlord: distract him and wait until he forgets what he was doing. That certainly seemed to be the case here; he completely failed to hit on Kaya more as he tossed the car into gear and into motion again.

And Kaya, in an effort to loosen up, threw her hands in the air, smiling. "You know, this is fun!" She piped up. "You should definitely go faster!"

And she was glad of this: Kaya hardly knew what to do when people were thinking of her that way anyway.

Zetta would like to show you EXACTLY what you should do, Kaya!

Obligingly, he poured on more gas, pushing the purring engine to greater feats of engineering. If she'd wanted another dose of adrenaline, she certainly would have no complaints!

Oh she had an idea h would, but Kaya was definitely not up for that kind of encounter with anyone yet, not even Matt.

And strangely enough, she was very much not complaining about him going faster, and was in fact embracing it. She whooped, looking over at Zetta and grinning. Maybe there was a part of her that DID like that thrill of excitement.

"Ha! Didn't take YOU long to loosen up," Zetta said with a grin.

Of course, the fact that he wouldn't let her come to harm might have had something to do with that, but he'd never think of that in a million years. You know, being Zetta.

Kaya thought the same thing, but she didn't say that aloud. Instead, she just smiled and nodded. "That's saying something too: the past few years, I've been scared of cars ever since I saw one attack a friend of mine."

Right now she couldn't wait to see a movie: the whole process was still so exciting to her.

"...Back up a moment," Zetta said, even as the patchwork walls of the fortress came into view. "A car ATTACKED someone?"

Kaya nodded. "It happened earlier on th ship. I was looking at this girl's world, and the car was near indestructible. It even wound up running over her, but it couldn't really kill her since she prayed to some kind of nightmare girl. Her powers were pretty cool, now that I think about it."

"Cars don't normally do that," Zetta said. "I'm pretty sure this one isn't indestructible OR murderous, even with me behind the wheel."

"Well I know that now!" Kaya insisted, laughing, "but think about it: I had never seen a car before then! My first exposure to it is a death machine that could run you over! Technically, a car CAN still do that too, its just not able to do it all its own. I'm just starting to get used to that fact now!"

"Well, glad I could do my part!" The Overlord shot her a sidelong glance, smirking. "You shoulda come to a Netherworld. Out stuff looks like what it is. This is a sweet performance machine. A death machine would have spikes! Rocket launchers! Freakin' concrete tires for better smashing!"

"Glad to hear it!" Kaya laughed, still hanging onto the seat a little, but noticeably calmer. "At least in one place, things are exactly the way they seem!"

All in all, this was turning out to be a decent day.

Speaking of things that are exactly the way they seem, there's the walls of the Overlord's Fortress!

Zetta slams on the brakes, sending the car into a long sideways skid that deposits it perfectly a dozen feet from his couch and freaking sweet wide-screen TV.

And this Kaya was not expecting, so when the car went from just approaching the Overlord's fortress to actually landing them right where they needed to be, the girl was speechless.

Obviously, Kaya knew nothing about drive-in movies.

More like the Overlord knew nothing of garages -- or just hadn't built one yet. The car shut off as he vaulted over the door without bothering to open it, as the door next to Kaya popped open seemingly of its own accord.

Kaya got out of the car swiftly, eager to get a look at what sort of movies that the Overlord was stockpiling: she was still pretty new to this kind of technology, and she wanted to make sure that she knew what they'd see.

"Do you have a favorite movie, Overlord Zetta?"

"Fifteen Fights," he said, "but that's a Netherworld movie, I doubt they have it up here. I'm sure there wasn't anything I know in the pile of crap I got."

Kaya rummaged through the DVD collection, tossing a few left and right, and then came upon one that caught her eye.

"Hmm, how about V for Vendetta? Sounds interesting!"

"Vendetta, huh? Sounds suitably violent," Zetta said, holding his hand out for it. He's kind of assuming that Kaya doesn't quite know how to work electronics, after all.
