Talk About Bad Timing! [Open]

Many people across the Earth could tell you where they were when they found out the news. That a terrible creature had torn through the the United States, razing the country in a horrific storm of death and destruction. That the Justice League, some of Earth's mightiest heroes, fell before this beast's might. That only one man stood in its way - Superman. And when the dust settled in Metropolis, the beast was stopped... and so was Superman.

But, not everyone knows about that horrific day on Stacy. Perhaps Superboy does. Perhaps one of the Legion. But, as it stands, not even the Clock knew of this moment.

For today, at least, in the middle of the City...

...was the day a Superman died.

(OoC: And after all that talk from the Council about trusting people. Obviously, Superman isn't going to say anything in this entry. Gonna need someone to find him, though. It's gonna look stupid with a dead Superman in the middle of the street for this portion and no one the wiser of it. Beyond that, have fun!)

And guess who has the misfortune to find him first?

Lex stood over his body, clearly pleased with stumbling upon this discovery. He knelt down to take a closer look.

"Clark?" Oh, he knew he wouldn't get a response, but he had to talk anyway. "Clark... looks like you had a very bad day.

"What happened?" He started turning Superman's head from side to side, looking at all the cuts and bruises. "Someone decided they didn't want to see you float around and play god?

"No... not with this kind of a beating. I only wish I was there to witness it. Probably one of your secrets caught up to you, and someone lashed out at you, seeing you for the self-righteous hypocrite I know you to be."

He leaned down closer, to speak into Clark's ear.

"You deserved this. To just be left out in the city like the piece of alien trash you are. My only regret is that I didn't have a hand in causing this. But don't worry, Kon will pay for your sins, and mine. As will the new Superboy, and Supergirl, and anyone else who wakes up with an 'S' on their chest."

He finally stood up, and straightened out his clothes, making it a point to smooth out his shirt collar and suit jacket. Once he was proper again, he looked down at Clark. "I'll see you in hell," was the last thing he said before walking away and leaving Superman's body there.

The Chancellor spotted the figure lying in the street and hurried over. He checked for a pulse and respiration in all the ways one checks these things with humans. He looked for signs of a struggle and found little of it on the street, but obviously plenty on the body.

He contacted Medical on the communication system.
