A Quiet Moment of Meditation and Reflection [Open]

Kate had been in Medbay recently for her injuries, but now her leg was mostly recovered as she slowly made her way to Hydroponics. She hadn't checked her omnicomm in a bit, preferring to focus on healing so she missed some of the recent news about teammates. Especially the latest about Lash turning evil.

She had some music from the media library since she was still too sore to play her music, much less train. There was a patch of warm grass to sit down in.

Kate gave a sigh and winced as she stretched her legs out before her, and turned up the music. The surrounding area filled with a bright song as she listened to Annie Lennox singing about a little bird.

Kate lowered the volume a little before smiling over at him. Her hair was up in a ponytail at the moment, and enjoying the warm but pleasant place.

"Escaping the Med Bay anyway. You feeling better?"

"For a certain definition of 'better'," Billy replied honestly, sympathizing with her about the Med Bay woes. "Physically, I'm finally feeling better. As far as our team's status, though, I'm somewhat worried."

He studied Kate, a questioning expression overtaking his features. As the team girls, she and Lash had been good together. How was this affecting her? She seemed fine on the surface, he thought. Meditation was good for their focus.

Kate gave him a puzzled expression in turn, "Ok, we were just injured, why would that affect our team status?" She then leaned over to shut off the music for the time being.

"Billy, is everything ok?"

"It's not just that," he picked up a blade of grass, twisting it between his fingers. "Being down a team member has been an unforeseen complication. I've recovered the morpher, but I'm not sure what to do with it."

What did Kate think? Surely she'd been thinking about it too.

"Oh god. Wait, we can't be down, none of us were injured that badly." God, what did she miss? She went to look briefly at her Omnicomm, and then checked over old messages.

Several minutes later, she quietly said, "Billy? ....What's going on with Lash? Was it something from the Ohm attack? Or was it Zedd? I know you don't trust him and I don't blame you there..."

Billy scooted closer to her as she read the messages. The dawning fear...then that was it. Kate hadn't known.

"We think it has something to do with the time losses going around. Zedd hasn't been up to much, and similar transformations are happening to other crew members. I suspect memory alteration, specifically loss."

The implications of that bothered him, but it was the closest hypothesis he had right then.

"But why would that affect her morpher? Billy, she's still our teammate and needs our help."

"I completely agree, but it's going to be slightly difficult to deliver that help. She doesn't want it, especially not from us."

Billy looked over at Kate, wondering if it was really sinking in yet.

"She's turned to evil and, by all appearances, is completely happy that way. She's attacked most of us, but I suspect it's not over yet. Her anger's especially focused on me because she believes I somehow 'forced' or 'tricked' her into fighting for good. The morpher may be reacting to her change of heart, unwilling to serve someone with her new intentions."

He pulled his knees up to his chest and sighed. "Talking isn't doing any good. We'll have to stop whatever it is that's affecting her mind."

Kate frowned at that, and moved to shift her legs with a wince.

"Then we convince her. We'll get her back," she stubbornly said. She was big believer in being able to talk people in or out of anything. Mostly because she's done it a number of times successfully.
