Demonstration [Semi-Open]
Ildraniath might be arrogant, but she wasn't vain. She didn't enjoy showing off merely for the sake of showing off. A display to intimidate or awe an opponent, yes, but simply for the sake of satisfying her own vanity? Never. Still, she looked forward to being able to flex her muscles, as it were. She needed to use her skills from time-to-time, after all. Especially because her attempts at discerning anything outside of a few minutes in the future were ending in failure.
Now that was disconcerting.
She hadn't summoned up anything just yet - no battlefields or target ranges here. Not yet. For now it was just the blank, emptiness of an unused sensorium. Ildraniath stood near the doorway, one armored finger slowly brushing over the helmet she had tucked under one arm. This ought to be interesting. One way or another.
[[Semi-open! Mostly for Nanoha, but feel free to drop by and bug Ildy.]]

She turned and nodded at Zouichi, "Thank you for your assistance."
[[OOC: And Z's player has absconded to bed. I think it'll be alright if we move along.]]

And then she looked back at Ildraniath. "So what else did you have in mind?"

"But if you'd like to demonstrate those, please go ahead! The Barrier will ensure that Stacy and the others don't suffer any collateral damage, so please don't hold back."

She took a few steps away and summoned up another wave of faceless attackers. She allowed to get close - very close - and then a rippling shockwave of energy and pressure rolled out from her, sending them flying like nine-pins. As one picked itself up for a charge, she extended her hand. There was a smell of ozone, a crackling of energy and warp-lightning danced from her fingertips. The smell of charred flesh filled the air as the energy found its way through armor and skin.
Her target collapsed.
It was strange, to fight beings that did not truly have minds, but still did in a sense. An illusion of the mind and the warp. Very sophisticated. She allowed another wave to come at her and this time, a roiling, crackling storm of warp energy surrounded her, bolts of warp lighting jumping between her and the ground and her targets. This was much more destructive, leaving sections of the (simulated) ground charred and blackened. Her next attacker was a single target.
He simply dropped dead in his tracks, trickles of blood and ichor running from his ears. She finally paused, taking a deep breath. It did take something out of her, to do this nonstop - but she had trained for it.
"That... is the gist of it, I believe. I can fling heavier objects than people, of course, but that takes more effort."

Once Ildraniath was done, however, the wings on her heels lowered her down to only a few feet over the ground, so they could talk more easily. "It's very impressive," she said after a moment's consideration. "Your big lightning blast... is it targeted on an area, or on individuals? That doesn't seem like the sort of thing you'd want to cast on a melee group where you have allies, right?"
no subject
"It's an area-of-effect. Useful for groups of enemies. Not something I would like to catch my allies in, however."

She touched down with a light noise. "You've demonstrated your own magic, and I thank you. Do you have any questions about what I can do, too? It's only fair."
no subject
She didn't feel like one, anyway.

She reached up to the jewel around her neck once more. "Raising Heart, Set Up." Given that she was already in the blue-white Barrier Jacket, it wasn't much of a change - but the jewel spoke again in its synthetic voice. "Raising Heart Excelion: Stand By, Ready."
The jewel shone brightly for a moment before metamorphosing into her weapon's staff/spear form, the red core at the spearhead the only indication that it had been the same object. The wings at her feet once more glittered, lifting her up to about the Eldar's face height. "I specialize in medium-to-long-range bombardment magic," Nanoha explained. "But I have a few tricks I can rely on for close-range fights, too."

Because knowing that might come in handy if she ever had to take her down.

"But the spells that use that power are more like very complex computer programs and mathematical equations. It's possible to use magic on your own, but our Devices handle most of the execution for us. Think of it like a calculator; you could do the math on your own by hand, but this is much quicker."
She held Raising Heart out in front of her, pointing it at the sky. "Most mages will know a few spells they can quickly use on their own without Device assistance, but the most powerful ones will almost always be used through your Device."
