All Hail the Conquering Heroes! [OPEN]

((Takes place several hours after the conclusion of this))

They survived. More than that, it seemed as if they actually won; the Ohm had successfully been driven away from their location. The fight hadn't been easy, which one could easily tell just by looking at the Quarter as it docked in back in Stacy's Hangar.

It had a number of dents, dings, and scorch marks where the Ohm had made their presence felt. Thankfully, there was no obvious serious damage. Still, though every crew member who went out was coming back, one had to wonder about their condition, particularly since they sent ahead a request for medics to be on standby.

But now that the ship was fully docked, and the main hatch opened, it was time to find out.

The edge of her lip twitches just a little at the mention of torture, but she keeps smiling anyway. "Nothing like a little pressure to bring people together. My sister never got over me marrying an anglophone, but maybe if I'd dragged her into the war, run a few guerrilla raids with her, she'd have seen the light."

For the most part, Eva's already over it, with the glaring exception of the psychic wave. That'll take a few days to process. Until she has some time alone, she's just going to pretend it never happened.

"I think in the end I had more issues with the Captain than he had issues with us being married," Wash admitted. "He and Zoe fought in the war together, they go way back."

He paused for a second. "Sorry, here I am doing nothing but babbling about Zoe and I bet you're tired. Where do you live?"

"Over at Cassie's house in The City. I usually take the train to get there," she says. "And don't bother apologizing. You've had an interesting life and I don't mind hearing about it. Although if you'd rather save it for around the water cooler I'd understand."

"All the way in the city is a long way to walk," Wash said. "Especially after the day we've just had."

With all the injuries and the damage to the Quarter, there hadn't been time to rest after the battle. Wash felt dead on his feet and he was willing to bet Eva felt the same way. "You're welcome to bunk in Serenity for the night. Shepherd's room is open."

Well, most of the rooms were open, but Mal's bunk was Mal's and Wash didn't know what the Tams might have in their room.

"I'd like that. I've seen Serenity, she seems to be a sturdy little ship." And she is tired, mentally and physically. Besides, staying in the Hangar puts her closer to the tubes so she can pop on down to the Med Bay if she gets any updates on Marco.

"Great!" Wash said, brightening. "Come on, I'll show you where you can sleep. The Quarter's in Engineering's hands now anyway."

Serenity needed people to fill the rooms. She was too empty now, even with the four of them - and come to think of it, Wash hadn't seen Jayne around in weeks. Wash turned his steps toward Serenity, whistling a little. He wasn't very good at carrying a tune.
