All Hail the Conquering Heroes! [OPEN]

((Takes place several hours after the conclusion of this))

They survived. More than that, it seemed as if they actually won; the Ohm had successfully been driven away from their location. The fight hadn't been easy, which one could easily tell just by looking at the Quarter as it docked in back in Stacy's Hangar.

It had a number of dents, dings, and scorch marks where the Ohm had made their presence felt. Thankfully, there was no obvious serious damage. Still, though every crew member who went out was coming back, one had to wonder about their condition, particularly since they sent ahead a request for medics to be on standby.

But now that the ship was fully docked, and the main hatch opened, it was time to find out.

"The Zerg? If they're similar to a species you're already familiar with, I'd say the more everyone else knows about them, the better." He frowned. "So you fought against these Zerg regularly? Are their attack patterns and armaments similar to the Ohm?"

"Pretty similar from what I've seen and heard. Massive psychic swarm that consumes everything in its path. Check. Large frigate-like monstrosities capable of sending smaller frigate battlecruisers. Check. Relentless swarms of enemies. Check. Shit, if I didn't know better I'd say they're a damn branch of the Zerg." He added a bit bitterly before sighing.

"But no point in fretting yeah? When you start doubtin' yerself they start winning."

"Hmm, I suppose so. On the other hand, with the amount of free time we have on the ship, planning some level of tactics in advance wouldn't hurt. I'm sure the battles will only become more difficult from here on in."

"...but the one difference is that the Ohm travel between worlds. Or are the Zerg also accustomed to interdimensional travel?"

"Now that's a good idea. Getting people informed and up to date on the Ohm is something we should be doing from day one." he replied with a half smile.

"I heard they can. At least when the Overmind was alive. I'm sure the new boss men, or lady are fairly capable of the same. Specially if the Hybrids win."

"...that's unfortunate indeed. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Overminds, though. Or Hybrids. Some sort of upper-echelon Zerg unit?"

"The Overmind was the top zerg baddie... Until he was killed. Tho there's more to him than everyone originally thought... but that's a longer story I'll leave to some other time. Hybrids where the perfected Zerg. Those that were merged with the Protoss. If you thought the Zerg were bad, the hybrids where immensely superior."
