All Hail the Conquering Heroes! [OPEN]

((Takes place several hours after the conclusion of this))

They survived. More than that, it seemed as if they actually won; the Ohm had successfully been driven away from their location. The fight hadn't been easy, which one could easily tell just by looking at the Quarter as it docked in back in Stacy's Hangar.

It had a number of dents, dings, and scorch marks where the Ohm had made their presence felt. Thankfully, there was no obvious serious damage. Still, though every crew member who went out was coming back, one had to wonder about their condition, particularly since they sent ahead a request for medics to be on standby.

But now that the ship was fully docked, and the main hatch opened, it was time to find out.

Kira, meanwhile, was more exhausted than anything else, though he had a rather nasty-looking bruise forming over his right eye from where he'd banged his head against his helmet. Still, he was a Coordinator, he'd heal quickly.

And one of his pilots had been hurt. So as soon as he'd spotted her, he'd made a beeline across the hangar. "...are you all right?"

Allenby straightened up when Kira approached, less because he was Blade Squadron's leader than that big old mark on his forehead there. (Being part of a command structure had only changed Allenby's attitude from "solo fighter" to "look out for your teammates.")

"Yeah, I'm just--what happened to you? You look like you took one heck of a hit out there!"

The Coordinator looked at her in confusion, fingers reaching up to his face following her line of vision. Oh, right, that. He shook his head. "It's nothing," he insisted. "Just a bruise from hitting my head. It'll heal in a day or two."

"If you say so." It looked kinda nasty, but a bruise was a bruise and not that much to worry about. "I'm glad to see ya made it out in one piece," she added with a bit of a smile. Certainly looked like he'd done better than some of the folks out there.

"Thanks," he gave a thin, tired-looking smile that was more 'drained' than 'exhausted.' "I'm glad to see you made it out all right too. How's your foot?"

He glanced over at their mobile suit complement. "We all made it today. ...I wonder if we're just getting lucky."

"It'll be fine in a while." She kicked her heel against the wall and winced slightly, reminded again of her plans to tune down the feedback.

But it was replaced by a look of determination at Kira's comment. "I don't. That is... luck had somethin' to do with it, but it was more than just that. We defeated them because we all fought together to save that planet and protect each other."

"You should get it looked at," he suggested gently.

"And that's true," Kira responded to her words. "We did, and everyone should be proud of it. If we try to keep each other safe, it'll be better for all of us." Still, he trailed off - he had no doubts that they were doing well in protecting their comrades, but to make it through two overwhelmed engagements without a single casualty? How long could that last?

Sheesh... Allenby might've been stubbornly insistent on the point, but the exceedingly nice way Kira said it made it difficult to take that attitude. It wasn't like he was giving her an order or something. "Yeah, all right." But she'd still wait until the medics were done with all the people that really needed help.

She found her certainty a little shaky when he still seemed unsure and found herself thinking back to the Devil Gundam again. Despite how hard they'd fought, they had still lost some pilots there, too... and Kira'd fought in way more mass battles than she had.

Well she wouldn't let it happen. As long as she and Nobel Gundam were in space, nobody she could reach would die. "C'mon, you're startin' to make me think you got hit harder than ya thought," she said, giving him a light shove to the shoulder. "If we keep doin' what we did today--we got good equipment and good pilots, and what's more we got way better heart than them!"
jesushasagundam: (Quiet smile)

It was because Kira had fought in more large-scale battles that he was a bit sober. Every time there was a major fight, people died. Just because this time the only ones that had died had been the Ohm, was it all right?

But he could tell that he was having an affect on the other pilot, and so he managed a quiet smile. "That's true," he said. "We just need to keep thinking like that."
