Space Invaders!

After everyone and all of their ships were properly loaded the Quarter had launched successfully. The journey from Stacy to the Trojan Asteroid field trailing NiSaris took several hours, but they managed to approach the field with the people of the nearby world being none the wiser.

The problem was that the NiSarians weren't the only ones watching the skies.

As the Quarter approached and entered the asteroid field, all was quiet. But it was only going to be a matter of moments before that would change.

Sam was used to ignoring voices in his head. More recent had been Schmuz, of course, but there had been Meg, too. Hauntings, too, where the ghosts had tried getting into his head or Dean's. It meant that the voices that were trying to get in, the ones that he honestly had no clue WHERE the hell they'd come from, were easy enough to ignore. Besides, with the renewed attack, it wasn't like he had time to really think about it.

So he ignored the jangling in his mind and added his guns and torpedoes to the attack, doing his best to keep the Shrikes away from the downed mecha, staying in behind the Quarter to add coverage and avoid the cannons.

"Monster braced and ready, Quarter. I'm staying put - we need every gun we've got."

Rough a ride as this was, he's used to quite literally navigating a hurricane through the spirit world - he can handle this.

Without an absolute lock on a lot of targets, he saves the big missile salvo, but the artillery ship still has the four railguns, which fire into the void again and again, now that he has a shot.

With the Quarter being put into full use, he's not especially trying to pick off targets - just being precise enough to rake the leviathans and shoot into shrike swarms to buy the fighters as much room as possible to maneuver or fall back.

'Vadum nods to himself at the decision of the Monster to stay on deck, a glint of satisfaction in his eyes as the fore third or so of the carrier slams into the wound the squadrons and they had created, unleashing the vast salvo of missiles stored within the flight deck. Nodding sharply to Wash at his signal.

"Time to finish this, Fire the main cannon!" He roared the final order, to Eva and Wash, trusting them to do what was needed to take the shot that would (Hopefully) Cripple the Leviathan.

"Consider it done," Eva says back, having forced herself back into detached calmness as she fires the cannon. She takes a quick little breath after it's fired, hoping that the Squadrons won't have to hold off the Leviathan any longer while the Quarter recharges again.

That was the killing blow.

After having sustained massive internal damage from the Macross Attack, the final shot from the Quarter's main cannon from such a close range tore through the Leviathan's body. It was an incredible feat, one few had ever accomplished, especially given such a small force.

The Quarter rocked violently as the beast exploded, a wave of psychic energy rushing through the battlefield. The force of the blast even knocked the remaining lesser Leviathans to crash into one another, sending them hurtling to their deaths against the nearby asteroids, and the remaining Shrikes were simply consumed by the force of the explosion.

It was over. They'd actually won.

Sam had a few seconds to be surprised. It had worked. It had actually worked!

Then the psychic wave of the Leviathans' deaths hit. Sam was already sensitive, partly because of the earlier voices and partly because of his own dormant powers. So when the wave hit, it hit him HARD. He screamed, comms thankfully off, then lost consciousness from the shock.

He was going to wake up with one HELL of a headache. And a bloody nose.

It was going to be a bit before he knew what else the wave had shaken loose in his head.

Trudy's fighter tumbled through space like a drunken bird, and only her wrenching on the controls kept her from crashing into the nearest asteroid. The field floated eerily silent in the wake of the battle, wreckage strewn all around.

"All squadrons form up around the Quarter," she ordered. "Those with towing capabilities, pick up the wounded and unresponsive. Let's get everyone home."

She needed to have words with some people, and she needed to find out from the Captain what the GIA considered a 'small force-' but that came later. Priority was getting all of her pilots back safely.

'Vadum rode out the psychic blast as the Quarter shook then stilled, a quick analysis of the battlefield showed it, they had won against the odds. Far from without damage though, "Damage reports," he requested calmly.

"Helmsman shift us back and ready a course back to Stacy. Send out recovery units and scan the field for any lost units, we won't be leaving anyone behind if we have the choice,"

Both units rattle violently as the psychic shockwave surges through them, and Tieria strains on the controls to keep Seraphim (and in return, the 00) steady. Much to his relief, while they had survived the surge, the remaining Shrikes on their tail were not so fortunate. The comfort is fleeting, however.

"Roger." Tieria answers Feldt grimly, and he banks, using the momentum to slingshot both Gundams back towards the Quarter. A heavily damaged Seravee, its armor seared with the remnants of psychic lances, follows.
