Space Invaders!

After everyone and all of their ships were properly loaded the Quarter had launched successfully. The journey from Stacy to the Trojan Asteroid field trailing NiSaris took several hours, but they managed to approach the field with the people of the nearby world being none the wiser.

The problem was that the NiSarians weren't the only ones watching the skies.

As the Quarter approached and entered the asteroid field, all was quiet. But it was only going to be a matter of moments before that would change.

Trudy was still close on his six, but the Firebugs packed a hell of a punch. She was dodging more fire than she was letting loose, mostly because she didn't want to hit Cowabunga. "Rogue Two here - we need some help, Cowabunga's pinned down."

She let loose one of her torpedoes on one of the Firebugs creating crossfire, and then zoomed toward the other, trying to draw its fire away from Cowabunga's craft. "Come on your ugly son of a bitch, shoot me!"

"Rogue Two, this is Rogue Five incoming." Sam banked the X-Wing hard, firing at another of the Firebugs as he came in to back Trudy up. "You know, as a general rule, I'm really starting to prefer fighting demons. At least a little holy water can get their attention."

He followed it up with a sweep of laser fire, only being careful enough not to hit Cowabunga or the other X-Wing.

"Rogue Two and Five, Blade Leader." The answer came over the comm unit. "I'll try to clear some space for you.

Kira's targeting computer blinked to life, painting targets all along his monitor and HUD as the DRAGOON drones activated, sliding off their mounts and surrounding the Freedom in parallel.

"Activating Full Burst Mode!" The railguns on his mobile suit's hips unfolded, swinging forward, and his two beam rifles came up. The positron cannon in the suit's chest sparked to life as he squeezed the trigger, firing a full salvo of thirteen shots at once - and then another, quickly retargeting, and then another.

Of course, given that it was impossible to miss, Kira quickly docked the DRAGOONs once more before he could see how much damaged he'd done, switching his focus now to evasion.

With space cleared, the Tauren launched out from behind his cover, a little the worse for wear but no serious damage.

"Thanks for running interference guys," He said, blasting at some of the firebugs that remained.
